So much of what I hate about Veilgaurd can basically be summed up by "They didn't have the chops to write it well"
Tash being non-binary, characters being queer isn't the issue.
The issue was they didn't have the chops to write it well so it comes off bad regardless.
Even aside from Tash's identity, I just hate their writing. They are insufferable. It was them trying to write a "bad ass" strong character. Again, they didn't have the chops, so they just made Tash an asshole.

@kailianglf2 Bianca at least had the "show don't tell " part down before hand. Tash immediately comes out of nowhere and assets how awesome they are. There is also some false bravado and sarcastic interplay with Bianca. Tash has zero subtext or depth.
Just just self appointed bad ass because they didn't have he chops to write an acrual bad ass.

After watching my brother play veilguard I realise inquisition was actually such a good game. Everything was just really good.

Before Veilguard, every Dragin Age game was good, each one just felt different in their own way. Origins was the OG with how free you were to customize your characters for battle, DA2 was more streamlined and the combat felt more action focused, but it still needed a tactical mind like in Origins, and DA:I was more explorative and unique with its story and combat, being a semi open world game.
All the games are unique in their own way, so you don’t even feel weird going back to an older title and think “God, I’m glad they fixed this in later games!”

So i asume the game has the same problem that with Andromeda? the gameplay and graphics went forward but the writing and RPG elements didn't. Like playing Hogwarts Legacy.

Tbh. I don't even like the new art style it has. Everything is watered down and way too bright that ain't even a dark fantasy no more. Why does the darkspawn look like me when i had no coffee after waking up for work at 2 am

Yup. Gameplay is fun (the first few hours at least) and responsive and the graphic-fidelity went up.
But there is basically 0 rpg elements left, the writing is pulling a bharv in the corner while being looked at funny by Taash. And the art style and ost are screaming "Avengers: Dragon War".

Bruh people called this same thing “forced” back then. Hell, Inquisition got so much flack back then for a lot of dumb reasons, from people being mad about Krem’s existence to people hating the fact Vivienne was black that they made multiple mods to change her skin color and race. So many people forget these things because “current thing bad” therefore past thing must be better.

Not optional, it's everywhere in these kind of games.
We all know same sex romance, homosexuality and others types of gender/sexualities have been around forever. It's not a problem.
The difference is that it's well written, lore accurate and it's not that character's whole personality trait.

Combat & exploration was a step up, but companion designs for females was horrific & the start of the GRETAS/BRUNHILDES. Don't get me started on Sera & Dorian being homosexuals, the only difference between then & now is subtlety & forcefulness.

This video was made in extremely bad faith. You ought to compare Dorian's companion quest cutscene with Veilguard as opposed to this random minor NPC dialogue. Theres plenty of subtle examples in inclusion during Veilguards gameplay just like this one.

@@johnnyboygriffin5764 Trying to argue a point by starting with a rampart exaggeration, isn't going to get you anywhere.
Veilguard over explains the main story threat your facing during the prologue in the early hours of the game yes. That's it. Once you get to the Blighted Village near the end of prologue, the games writing drastically improves. Even a character like Bellara who does come across a bit clunky/cringe in the writing during that prologue section, has a convo with your character a short time later about the feeling of loss and losing a loved one, and it's one of the most real, heartfelt and relatable bits of dialogue you can find in videogames.
If you're not aware of the improved writing quaility after the opening part of the game, its because you've only watched clips of youtubers and streamers who only played it for a couple hours and then dismissed it as being shit. Even the biggest haters who played long enough admitt they noticed it gets better past the starting hours.

    • @xTaStYNuTzx
      @xTaStYNuTzx  14 днів тому +17

There is no comparison, Dorian approaches you in a way that you know his intentions instead of it being thrown in your face.
For example, you can tell the difference when the writers create a character you can tell is a killer by how they act and what they say VS a character telling you they are a killer every chance they get.
Also, in Origins and Inquisition you can actually disagree and reject ideas or scenarios with the choices given VS how in Veilguard the choices compared to previous games feels like no matter the choice your character feels like it's pushed around and has to deal with how things are. Most of the dialogue options often feel like long versions of "Well...", "Meh..." And "I guess...".
