Never a word about still recovering from his injuries and losing so much training. No excuses. Just a class act. Two of the best riders in history going at it every day and two class acts. It’s hard to pick one over the other .
They both broke Pantani's longstanding record by quite a bit. Just, as they say in so many sports, "It's just Todej's time." Next year, injury free, let's see. ha!
Jonas is the easy pick Tadej doesn’t have all the qualities this man has.
Despite all injuries, he keeps the excitement alive. He is such a great rider and person. Respect to him.

Jonas is actually stronger than previous year during tdf. He did 2nd best climbing performance in history today after Pogacar xD
@@Zawisza499 just because he did 1 stage at a higher level than usual doesn't mean his form is at it's best. No matter how much of a superhuman he is, no one can heal and get peak performance after suffering several broken bones. It's just not possible.
Jonas has absolutely nothing to be disappointed about. Both he and Tadej are way better than anyone else in the world, almost superhuman level. Their rivalry is the best I have ever seen, I feel lucky we get to watch it.

Tadej's performances in the last 2 stages have been...outerworldly. He set an unofficial all time w/kg record in the prior stage
Jonas needed to recover from major injuries and has not had time to train as much as he should have. I don't think Tadej would have had such an easy time if Jonas was 100%. I'm also not sure what's going on with his team. Their support has been inconsistent.

Tadej is probably my favorite sportsman in the world at the moment but Jonas’ gracious perspective is remarkable, particularly in a cultural era seemingly marked by the celebration of ego and greed,

Jonas is showing so much more class than any of the interviewers.. How many times did they try to make Jonas say he didn't like the team or the plan, and how many times did Jonas have to say this was better than what he hoped for? There was no need for the rest of the inverview after the first minute.
I watch the Tour De France every year…I have the greatest amount of admiration for Vingegaard. Despite with his injuries, he showed what a true champion is all about. Supporting you from South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦

I love watching Jonas and Tadej. So great to have such amazing competitors, different personalities but seem to have total respect for each other. So fun to watch as a fan.
JV you are my champion 💙. Could anyone imagine after broken bones, punctured lung and riding a bike non stop for 5 hours at mountains is a remarkable recovery and no one can achieve this level. No matter whoever wins this year JV is a true warrior of this year ❤❤❤

BOTH Visma LAB and Jonas can be proud of their aggressive strategy and plan today. It did not work out as they hoped for but they planned for a stagewin not for second place. That´s what winners do!

I am a diehard Tadej fan....however.....I have to say that Jonas is a CLASS ACT. He is one of the few honest, real cyclists out there.....He and Bini are the class of the Tour.

You can say many things about Jonas, but one thing is certain, this man has so much class and personal culture that even his opponents cannot deny it. I was his opponent, but during the 111th edition of TdF I became his fan.
Putting 6.8 w/kg for over 40 minutes and still being dropped is ridiculous. Pogacar just made the best climbing performance ever today.

Genuinely curious what you mean by this. What does it mean to Crack and what does it mean to choke? Who chokes in cycling?
@@N-MIYA08 To crack in cycling is a sudden loss of energy, the rider slows down noticeably. To choke is a more general term for athletes used when the mind fails, the focus is gone.

I'm a Pogi fan but JV is such a class act, always praises for other riders and clean rides every time , and to be able to compete at the highest level after such a horrible crash, nothing but respects for him
Jonas could've really used Sepp today. Matteo rode great, but having another 5k pull could've made a big difference in outcome.
and yesterday. kuss would have closed yates attack and pogi would not have been able to drop jonas.

I didn't like his style at first, but man, what a warrior, a true champ.
No risk, no glory. He is losing but trying. Jonas doesn't use any excuses but give credit to the other rider. You gotta love this guy for his sportsmanship. The media people are trying hard to get him say something sensational, but he sticks to the sportsmanship spirit. Kudos to Vinge
How privileged are we to see two such incredible cycling talents in our lifetime. Love their rivalry, sportsmanship and talent.

What a great race of Jonas! As he said, maybe one of the best Performances in his life. Feels like a big loss, but hey one guy was even better, all the rest of the peloton has no chance against Jonas. He can surely win the Vuelta this year, as he would easily have without team order last year…
@@fatihsezgen77 i think pogacar if he wins tour will try go for the triple. Jonas told earlier in the week to danish media he wasnt sure about vuelta perhaps needing some family time after all that has happened but beside that i do agree with you.

Rooting for Pogi this Tour, but I like Jonas too. IMO, Pogi winning this year is best for the rivalry and continued discussion re: TP being the “GOAT”. Had Jonas won this year, the rivalry stagnates and a shadow begins to be cast over Tadej vs. Merckx. Tadej winning this year is completely understandable/to be expected given Jonas’s preparation (lack thereof). Assuming they both come to Le Tour healthy next year, we’re in for a real battle. Jonas may very well get the better of Pogi again in 2025… We’ll see. Love both these guys!
Sepp is missing but woet is kind of not the same rider as last year.

By the interview from both riders, you can see they are respecting each other so well. One of the most respectful cycling rivalry in this era.
It's just the media/journalist who writing all those inflammatory articles about them and provoking both riders as well as their fans to hate each other.

I am a big JV and Visma fan and they did their best today. Tadej has been the best cyclist but inexplicable crashes in performance are why he lost the last 2 years. He seems to have figured something out and historically great. Jonas was very gracious in acknowledging greatness.
A classy pair of riders - we are blessed to be watching this wonderful rivalry - long may it continue - great stuff - congrats to both and their teams.

I don't think Jonas would beat him this year without the crash, he simply doesn't have the team this year. The whole Visma team had a major role in beating tadej 22 and 23

@stevegold7307: Yep, if Jonas woud had not hat crash, its clear he would be much better. I personaly think he would beat Tadej, cause for me its impossible, that with that kind of stress to his body and head, with that muscle loss and with only arround 1 month of propper training and not realy training for two month, it should be clear thaqt he is not even close to his peak. And I think its unheard of, that a rider, or any other sportsperson, with that kind of injury is coming back that fast and was on 100%. I doubt they are even at 95%. I think they are well below this. But never the less, there is also the posibility that Tadej also would be better without the Giro. Bu it seems, he was able to realy use the Giro for training. His numbers have improved and so we can assume, that this could be the case. Anyway....both are high level and for me it does not matter who wins...it only matters that both riding aginst each other...thats joy!
I have gained even more respect for him. We have now, two great champions and two great people.

Last year Pogi crashed before TDF and this year Jonas. Last year Visma was a stacked team. This year UAE is on point. This year’s TDF would not be as exciting to watch without this rivalry. Both are champs and we’ll have many more years to enjoy their rivalry.

I'm surprised Jorgensen said he wasn't using a power meter. Anyone know why? Is that his normal practice? Is it just to save weight or some psychological reason?

A full form Jonas can. But he's nowhere near full form. He's had to recover from multiple injuries, missed leadup races, missed tour prep, missed, missed altitude camp. Hopefully next year he'll be closer to his best form.

@@silverarrowslk the best he can do. Jonas is a humble, positive guy. Don't put too much stock into what he says. He's not in form this year and still in second place. He can win it next year for sure but he also needs stronger team support.
No way he will crack. Apart from misfortune such as crash or some mismanaged mechanical he'll be unstoppable.
@@silverarrowslk he’s a humble guy. Of course he’s not at his normal level. His whole tour run up was massively disrupted because of his injuries. He missed altitude camps, lead up races, a bunch of tour prep. His true ceiling is way beyond what it is right now. He was getting dropped by Remco today lol. He’s nowhere near his best form for a 3 week tour even if he’s had some bright moments here and there. Even his body looks like he’s lost muscle mass or something.
Explain to me why Visma was pulling on the flats at all. Why? That’s not hurting anyone in UAE and it robs them of options on the final climb. Let the break go, sit on the wheels and apply pressure only when it counts (second last and last climb).
Jonas also broke all previous records for that climb by about 2 minutes. Unfortunately for him, Todaj broke the record by about 3 minutes.
I like JV as a person, i hate his tactics
