What a fascinating tour - such a beautiful Norman Abbey. It brought back a similar example of pedagogical ignorance: I once wrote about going to Warslow, and the teacher corrected it to Wilmslow as she had never heard of Warslow but Wilmslow was about ten miles away. The injustice rankled! When I was a teacher I was careful not to be so arrogant, and apologised if I made mistakes. It's important to admit when we don't know something or make mistakes; often our pupils can teach us. Buildwas deserves to be more widely known - thank you for sharing this.
Beautiful ruins that I haven't seen before - looks glorious by daylight and would bealso perfect for a midsummer evening gathering with candles and music. Thanks for the tour and commentary.
Henry, another great exploration/tour video. Nice to see they do have a map/picture of the Abby. Thanks for sharing a funny episode of your life with us.
Thanks for the video of the Abbey Henry, such a beautiful place in the sunlight, it would have been so impressive all those year ago. This there any historic find there from years gone by!!😎🚂🚃🚃🚃🇬🇧
Thank you! I've found not all teachers are cleaver as they make out to be. Often when I'm on the railways I've heard them telling children incorrect info.
Stunning place, thank you for sharing. What a shame your teacher didn't have the good grace to apologise to you for her error! It would be interesting to see someone dowse the site. I wonder if you have a past life connection in some way.....
That was brilliant. I assumed at the start that you were a Shropshire Lad - but perhaps not if you school teach had no idea of Buildwas. If you were local and she was teaching there - I certainly would hope that she did know of it. So I guess you are not a Shropshire Lad - thank you A.E. Houseman for that title.
Thank you for joining me! I'm from Buckinghamshire and was at school in Bucks at the time. More recently I was a student a Harper Adams University so I've got to know the area quite well.

Still standing. Built to last.
Thank you for joining me! They certainly build them to last in those days.
It's not often I find a fellow countryman who knows British history began long before the reformation
Thank you for joining me! I've always found that period of history very interesting!
I sense the clear injustice you felt as a small child! I’m glad it didn’t put you off a love of such places.
Thank you for watching! I feel I've finally said what I felt about that.
Nice to Jackie and Lucy on duty as you came in..
Thank you for watching! It chatted to them after making this video. Very pleasant ladies.
