How is the weather in Montego Bay during the end of September/ early October? I heard it’s rainy season… will we get rained out?

Caribbean weather is always unpredictable, but I can say that I spend a lot of time on the island during this season and enjoy lots of sun. Jamaicans use the phrase "liquid sunshine", which refers to the rainfall. When the rain falls, it is typically hard and quick and even in the most rainy season, the island averages around 8 hours of sunshine on day historically. Hi Angie! Great question! I think this really comes down to you. 90%+ of folks find it super cool for the first day and then just tune it out thereafter. The resort waves to the aircraft and the overhead lasts but seconds. :) But for someone who is absolutely adamant this isn't for them, you'll need to choose a different location. You mentioned tipping the butler. What is an recommended amount to tip? We will be at Montego Bay for 7 nights in April/May.

Yes indeed! There is actually a video all about tipping on my channel worth checking out. However, I'd suggest the low end is around $20-$25usd/day and mid-range around $40usd/day. I typically recommend scaling the tip in accordance with where the butler room sits on the pricing spectrum.

@@MrTraveLux Thank you for the information. Should we expect to have multiple butlers since it is 24 hours? Will they pool the tips from our room? I usually like to tip a nice amount up front and then tip at the end of my trip based on the service, but have never used butler service so I'm not sure the best approach.

My pleasure! I highly encourage you not to tip up front, but do mention you will be tipping. Tips at Sandals should always be at the end in my opinion. I verbalize at the beginning that I will tip them well for great service and follow through at the conclusion of the stay. Depending on the length of your stay, you will likely have 2-3 butlers. You can tip a few ways. The most common would be to just roughly think what % of the time you've seen each and split the grand tip across those ways. If you leave it in cash when you check out, the lounge can provide envelopes for each butler you can put it in. With card, you just let them know the amount per butler you wish to leave.

Aww, very kind comment - thanks! It has been a labor of love over the past couple of years and learning all of it the hard way! If I look at some of the original videos versus now I can definitely see the progression...and still a lot more to go! I use Adobe Premiere Pro for editing which is amazing, but you definitely have to plan a large amount of time to master the software! :)

Hey Brenda! It depends on your preferences, really. You get access to the Sandals lounge at the MBJ airport, so don't really need Club MoBay's arrival lounge, but might benefit from their fast-track customs service.

Hi Brittney, I'm not sure I'm entirely understanding your question? Are you referring to a free hold? If so, that is about holding a room for a few days to give clients an opportunity to make payment. Or, perhaps, you are referring to a free night? Certain room categories (usually butler) will sometimes offer a free night promotion if you stay 7 nights (so, you pay for 6) - this is a random sale that can't be predicted, however.

Conversely, the respectability required for certain dining establishments is all public information prior to anyone spending a penny. It is no different than if I rocked up to a top steakhouse in Manhattan in a swimsuit and $1,000 in hand - I’d still expect to be turned away because I hadn’t done my due diligence or prepared for the experience.
