"I was never told there's any risks. Ever!"
Oh, please! Even if they didn't say anything- you know you are about to undergo a major surgery, so surely common sense should have said something, innit?
Exactly ! All surgeries have risks, and you chose to leave your country to do this …
I understand what you mean, but no one deserves this.
Common sense is not common.
No common sense here.
Just Mental illness
And then she didn’t seek medical attention for SIX MONTHS!! So dumb!!!
The 2nd woman has done her face and lips too. She chose a shortcut instead of going to the gym to work out. It's great that ITV is doing this series.
Yes, I noticed that. The First Lady has had face work done too. It seems they are being flippant about surgery risks.
These people always show a lack of self responsibility
I agree. It’s utterly mind boggling.
The real epidemic here is people not taking responsibility for their own poor decisions, and pointing the finger at everyone else.
If your doctor, who you trust, says youre not big enough to get the surgery, shouldn't that encourage you to simply lose weight the natural way? Shouldn't him saying that boost you to believe you can lose the weight naturally, if your trysted medical practitioner believes so?
These people don’t want to do it naturally though do they? At least that is the impression that I get.
@user-ed3wq6rh6mI am losing weight from diet and exercise and let me say, I get it. I have lost twenty pounds over eleven months and have managed to keep it off while also building muscle. The thing is, this took eleven months. That included weeks where it felt like I wasn't losing any weight. That included months of my body being weird and not entirely healthy because I was working myself too hard. I can see why for a lot of people, weight loss through normal methods just feels impossible
@user-ed3wq6rh6m Unfortunately they didn't realize that these surgeries require lifestyle changes and have some serious side effects.
The natural way is too hard for them! God forbid they cut down on fattening foods and get up, walk, swim, or cycle. Too lazy I guess.
@@adhc8560it’s not always the case. Many people are desperate to lose weight because they have a life long condition which impacts on their mobility and ability to exercise, even to walk or do simple things and end up with depression, hence they pile on weight, you can’t judge every overweight person by the same yardstick!
if you cannot exercise then eating less helps also to lose weight. this seems to be lost on these people.
They’re lazy fks that’s why
People are far to quick to use the "I can´t exercise because of a medical condition". Maybe she can´t do any high impact or cardio or maybe she is taking medication that makes her gain weight, but what is stopping her doing some walking, Pilates, chair exercises, exercise band work? You are right about the eating, perhaps better portion control, looking at what she drinks (high sugar). She could be one of those "I only eat salad" but drowns it with high calorie dressing. She could be one of those "I am good all week, but "treat" myself at the weekend. Neither of them look to be obese, after a certain age it is not so easy to keep the weight off so lifestyle changes are needed to maintain a healthy weight, there is no easy fix, it takes work, but it is possible for most.
Diet is more important than exercise for losing weight anyway. You have to walk for an hour to burn 200-300 calories.
The surgery won't be effective in the long term without the lifestyle change. A lot of patients continue to eat unhealthy food in larger quantities and bloat the stomach again, resulting in weight gain.
I was 16 stone at my biggest and would never ever have risked surgery, not even done in the UK. Plus I didn't want a chunk of my stomach taken away. I lost 6 stone of that myself, just by eating less, not even any exercise other than my usual day to day activity. No extra care like whatever the extras are that were mentioned. Didn't want any medical people involved at all. Anyone can do it, if they want it badly enough, and being smaller becomes more important than food.
“I was never told there where any risks , ever.” 🤔
Yes. Shocking.
DUH!!!!
There is no surgery without risk in any country.
It’s heartbreaking what people will do just to avoid exercising and a proper human diet.
As a 27 year old aspiring bodybuilder that’s been training for 8 years, I never understood it either.
Health is #1.
I feel for Louise. Something tells me she's very unhappy with herself in terms of body dysmorphia. Her face shows signs of fillers, botox, etc. This new world driven by social media perfectionism is incredibly frightening. Hope her situation improves 🫶🏾
"Signs of fillers, botox, etc" More like a face full of them.
I use social media, i have no desire for fillers, lets just take responsibility for what we do to our bodies yeah?

@TheynotLikeus-m7s 🤦🏾♀️
How can they not know the risks? There are SO many stories about people going to Turkey for cosmetic surgery and either dying or coming back butchered.
With just a LITTLE bit of research these women's pain and suffering could have been prevented...
💯
I know someone who had the surgery on NHS, stretched the stomach again, so that was waste of our tax money.
😅😅😅😅
That's the case for a lot of patiens if they do not change they eating habits.
She just said i was never told there were any risks ever.
Seriously, what happened to common sense, do we even need to be told there's risks!
the patient's common sense is not enough and a good surgeon, not just a plastic surgeon!, must always warn of the risks that go beyond the anesthesia.
Most people would lose a significant amount of weight if they cut out alcohol, sugary/sweet drinks, junk food and fast foods. Add further loss of weight on top of that if they eat more kimchi, cruciferous vegetables and fiber. Then add further loss of weight if they take up weight training and cardio 3 to 4 times a week and they are well on their way to achieving normal healthy body weight. Did these people even try any of these things before going under the knife? I wonder.
Some people want to take shortcuts in life.
I wonder if GPs are even telling them this? When I went to the Drs a number of years ago for this issue all they did was tell me to eat x amount of calories a day, and they did refer me to a dietitian who gave me a few diet sheets saying that I should eat five portions of veg a day and a great deal of old fashioned diet stuff on the proportions of my meals being carb, protein, etc. I asked about gym membership and group membership of clubs like Slimming World or Weight Watchers being prescribed on NHS and they said no! Nothing about gut health, psychology, weight training, etc.
Agree. . .try the natural way 1st. . .dont rush or elese you will be rushed to heaven..
@@jujutrini8412 Honestly, in this day and age with all the information available how can people not know that if you eat more calories than you burn you are more than likely going to gain weight. Not being funny but why should taxpayers pay for your slimming club membership? There is so much information on the internet, You Tube is full of videos for exercising in your own home, better ways to eat, recopies, meal planning etc. People need to start taking some personal responsibility and where possible make some lifestyle changes.
@@samdasilva1914 Ok, we’ll carry on paying huge amounts for all the health complications of obesity then. I think it’s cheaper to reduce obesity, from what I have read, but you might be right, perhaps if we keep doing the exact same things we’ve been doing people might change all of their own accord without any help whatsoever. 🤞Hopefully if we ever have a situation where we need to defend ourselves the young will have turned the trend around and will have stopped becoming increasingly obese as time has gone on.
So Donna knew she had internal bleeding prior to returning home but decided against immediate medical intervention once she arrived in Scotland…she’s not a victim. When getting elective surgery in foreign countries instead of their home countries where rules and laws are more stringent for safety, they’re not victims.
you pay cheap and u get cheap, why is this on the news...
It's cheaper but not cheap
To inform and hopefully deter others
That's a misconception. Cheap doesn't always = cheap quality. 😅
@@BaDazaitotally agree.👍🏻
@@ayoadebowale3291you’re absolutely right.
tbh i feel like these ppl are partly to blame, everyone KNOWS not to go to turkey for surgery. everyone knows. its just stupidity atp
Well I'm in Turkey and we get plenty of people to here because they want surgery. We are pretty successfull. Apparently little stipids' mistakes were enough to decide that it's very bad to go to a surgery in this country.
Exactly! We have been hearing about how dangerous it is to go down there to do surgeries. The problem is they come back and end up on the NHS after their botched operations.
I agree. But they don’t want to pay for it at home. They’re not willing to, they want a cheaper or free option instead.
Partly! You are being too kind.
All surgeries carry risk , how did that woman not research what she was doing ,, crazy
the patient's common sense is not enough and a good surgeon, not just a plastic surgeon!, must always warn of the risks that go beyond the anesthesia.
Our bodies weren't made to have forgien objects in them or be cut open and poked and prodded
Preachhhhh, I’m so tired of these stories 😒💯
Well yeah but we often died really early before modern medicine. A lot of medical interventions are actually because we are living so long that our bodies break down. But obviously any major medical intervention should be taken with care, the risk of not having it should outweigh the risk of having it.
Never said anything after the lips and cheeks, brev.
Don’t worry friends, the nhs will help you 🙄
Stay in your country for medical treatment don’t blame Turkey . Lots of operations in Turkey are successful.
And lots of operations in Turkey are NOT
@@km4336 got some statistics there or just hearsay? How about show some numbers about the % of complications on Gastric Sleeve surgery in the UK vs Turkey?
@@DeanB84exactly.
I’m here in Spain, I’ve known several people go for surgery in the UK.. it can go wrong anywhere.
Best stick close to home where u have some coneback/aftercare
There is no such thing as a risk-free surgery. She wasn't nearly fat enough to qualify for gastric surgery but just wouldn't cut back on her eating or get a little exercise "because of her medical condition", which didn't stop her from flying to Turkey and getting surgery. A life-altering major operation is much easier. She could have easily lost those 20 or 30 or so pounds on her own. I did, just by cutting out desserts, soft drinks, and junk food and walking more. It's not that HARD!
Who would go to Turkey to have surgery unless you have other issues as well in addition to poor judgement?
It's better. Usually.
While the surgeries have a high success rate the way they seem to handle the ones that go wrong just isn't worth the risk.. I would rather work hard and get myself healthy than try to cut corners and do it the lazy way, lets be honest these people are fat through laziness.. i know type 1 diabetics and people with other health issues who are a healthy weight so don't come at me with your cope excuses people responding to this.
They had major surgery. which means an extremely high rate of things going wrong.
A friend of mine had the operation here in the States. She gets diarrhea if she eats certain foods - but she eats those foods anyway! 🥴
Told no risks ha ha ha every major surgery has risks !!! I went to Turkey for my sleeve and I would go back in a heartbeat my surgeon was fantastic the hospital was absolutely spotless and the care was second to none. The company I went with was great from start to finish stayed in touch with me for a whole year after …it’s all about doing your homework
Why didn’t they lose the weight the right way? I was quite fat and I decided to do some lifestyle changes and I did. I lost 20 kilograms. Now I’m maintaining my weight which is so much harder but I did think of surgery one day and now, 👎
So sad 😢😢 I also got botched facial surgery in my 20s but I'm single, if I had children, I wouldn't have done it. Nothing would be worth being disabled or not able to take care of my kids. Also, weigh loss is different, you just need to fix it with a nutritionist and a personal trainer. It's definitely something you can fix yourself and be proud of your hard work.
I don't get her 😮 thoughts to be honest?? Donna you exactly knewwhat risks were young Lady!! But ur Brain did, shame on you!
Don’t be so condescending
It would’ve been cheaper to do Wegovy or Ozempic as it’s approved in the UK now and Germany. 😢
Also with significant long-term risks for many people.
Both surgery and medication have huge side effects and do not work in the long term in most cases. The only healthy, safe, and long-term weight loss can be done by the change of lifestyle and eating habits.
Everyone wants an easy fix. Not willing to do the work.
Will people never learn
Some definitely won’t!
These so called Turkish surgeons are laughing (literally), not even basics of humanity...They are demonstrating exactly what they think of the British.
Don't take it personally. They don't care if you're British or German. They're only in it for the money.
It’s not worth it ladies! Don’t go abroad for MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY. If you need it, save up and get it at home!
Before any surgery, you should do your own research!! To say you were not aware of any risks or told by the Turkish medical staff (who you would have selected off of your own back to carry out this procedure for you) is just trying to pass the blame. From experience, you are provided a whole booklet of information and forms to READ and sign as an agreement that you understand…. prior to any medical tests etc being carried out in prep for your surgery. The reason people feel the need to look abroad is due to the substantial cost in the UK for this type of ‘selective’ surgery. Over 10k in the UK compared to 2.1k in Turkey. Personally I had the best experience possible and could not fault the company I used for the operation.
Where did you go in Turkey? I'm planning surgery there.
Some think talking to folk they don't even know on FB is enough research.
@@gingernightmare9152after watching those poor women? 😳
@@gingernightmare9152
You do you, but know there are hundreds of Personal Trainers like me that can help any woman take life long control of her body with no extreme exercises or big changes. Save your money for a beach holiday
Do surgeries in Turkey have a higher rate of complications or death as the UK or is it the same? Thats the question we should be asking.
Believe you me Turkey has one of the best top surgeons in the world in many different cases u can research on google
People shouldn't play with their health like this
This is a dangerous surgery regardless even in America. We have a huge prep before they make the decision. There’s a reason insurance won’t cover it unless you’re extremely obese.
What medical condition would stop you from doing any exercise?
There are a bunch that limits exercise, some to a severe degree. Pain, some autoimmune, lung and heart conditions to name a few.
But these surgeries require lifestyle changes, forever and have a lot of complications. Patients are carefully screened and often must lose significant weight before they get approved, at least in places like th US and the UK.
I have osteoarthritis in all of my joints at age 48. There is a lot I can’t do. There’s also cutting back and watch what I eat and exercising like swimming and a few others. People just want an excuse to get things the easy way.
@@HaveCommonSense76
Absolutely. Those who can wheel a suitcase off a plane in Turkey can do some kind of exercise
Please provide the names of the clinics and "doctors"
They should’ve known what they getting themselves into, their are so many horror stories about surgery going wrong at Turkey 🇹🇷.
Man I've been living in there for 19 years as a son of a doctor. I've heard very little of bad surgeries.
Why didn't she do some of her own research and educate herself? Everyone knows there is a major risk in major surgery.
Laziness and denial
You have to do your own research. To say that she was never told there were no risks is ignorance. Any surgery has risks!!
"Vanity. It's my favourite sin."
This was so difficult and disturbing to watch
I’m an RN who used to work with these patients. There are so many of these patients who returning to eating so much that they bust the sutures.
Don't do it. Don't do it. There was another segment where a girl got necrotizing fasciitis which can kill you. Don't do it
I did it.. i lost 10 stone.. watching this realise how lucky i was to come home
Same. It’s the best thing I ever did but I’d never go back to turkey for major surgery again.
This is a major surgery. So many long term issues. I’m glad there are new oral meds
Blame the NHS, not turkey , dental treatments are gone for the poorest Britons too. Who is responsible for such a distorted new system ,
Exactly they never question ,why dental or cosmetic treatment so expensive in Uk
What rock has she been hiding under?! There are side effects - she just wasn’t listening!

I don't feel sorry for Donna. Her doctor told her she didn't need the surgery and she went overseas to get the surgery.
Then she didn't seek medical attention after she returned home.
She brought everything that happened on herself.
she also botched up her face!
Don t have overweight, I you will avoid all theses problems
I recommend just eating less instead of having surgery. Yes, I know, it's boring to diet. But taking responsibility is part of being an adult.
The problem is our overworked NHS has to pick up the bill.
There are hundreds of Personal Trainers who are qualified, they learn about nutrition in a realistic way AND they care. If you are fit enough to be put to sleep and be sliced open, you are fit enough to walk or swim and make small changes to diet.
iduno, hard to have sympathy. You don't care about yourself beforehand and then after the consequences, you're going around blaming the "surgeons". You already know it is risky. hahaha, how does REMOVING most of someone's stomach sound like it could be harmless or casual? It never could be. You need your entire stomach. You need all of your body parts.
there is a very low instance of this kind of thing happening and its surgeons in the uk who are trying to scare monger because of their extreme prices compared to abroad.....if you go and study the medical regime in turkey you will find that it is top class
She just got unlucky , wrong surgeon ! It’s way too expensive in this rip off country!! That’s why people have no choice but to travel abroad for dental work and surgeries.
Shouldn't be relying on luck. No choice? Plenty of choice of what you put in your body - don't want poor teeth or a fat body then don't drink sugary drinks.
Her Dr. told her that she is not a candidate for the surgery.
People refuse to believe that healthy weight loss entails consuming fewer calories, period. ("You can't outrun a bad diet.") It takes DISCIPLINE and PATIENCE.
Dont go to a country full of poverty for any medical procedures . Only do t in the western countries . It’s not worth the risk .
People are always looking for a quick fix. It's too much effort to cook and eat healthier foods & exercise regularly. It's easier to eat fast foods & sit in front of a computer or television.
Choosing a shortcut because you cba to put the commitment in 🙄🙄🙄
They were excited for your money! I wasn’t told about any risks . Lady there is always a risk with surgery! They need mental help not surgery . There is one on a plane now to Turkey
You didn’t even feel tempted to google any risks of the surgery? You just booked it, flew there and took it on face value that it would be ok?
All that pain and life long suffering instead of cutting your portion sizes and walking a little bit

Why can’t people use the money for a personal trainer.
Because that requires effort and being honest about your lifestyle choices.
I wasnt told abt risks.
Are 5 years old didnt reserched anything.
Of course now nhs has to sort it out.
Should be billed for what NHS has to correct
People want what they want, despite red flags, and go ahead with procedures. A bargain surgery in a foreign country. THEY DO NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU.
Do your homework!!
Once these kinds of procedures are in these women head they wont agree to and listen anything, I told this Canadian lady as she booked her procedure in Turkey for Sept, I told her get it done in Canada if you really need to, but price was so cheap in Turkey with hotel stay paid by Hospital, she blocked my number.
It's almost like there is a drug called Ozempic out there.
Ozempic is fairly recent though - a lot of these people who had gastric sleeves probably did it before ozempic and similar drugs were being prescribed
It has serious side effects too.
If 1 wants a op that bad , get a job
Get a loan and use professionals qualified in your own country
You trust and research..
From what I've learned recently - DO NOT HAVE SURGERY IN TURKEY!!! 🥴 Can't afford it at home? Try, if possible, saving or doing a Go Fund Me - or perhaps go to another country with a better track record than Turkey!
Doing a Go Fund Me is straight up fraud. It’s being just as bad as these cosmetic surgeries but money wise. GO FUND ME should not be legal.
Excuses excuse excuses
You get what you pay for. Dicing with death just to save money and get a quick fix. A complete lifestyle change is required, but it takes time and effort.
What is wrong with our society? If a man wants you to LOOK a certain way then he DOES NOT LOVE YOU. Dump Him! If you cannot attract a person THEN FOCUS ON YOU AND GET A DOG AND CAT!
The same thing can happen in the USA. I had mine in 2005, the sugeon closed the entrance to my stomach to the size of an eraser on a pencil. I cant eat most meat it gets stuck and my esophagus now has strictures PLUS now i have a B-12 deficiency that cant be corrected and auto immune problems. But they are just finding out that about 90% of people having gastric by pass surgery will develop these problems. Most can not be fixed and im not even thin! I got to a certain weight and my body will not shed anymore weight.
Nobody is saying there isn’t problems in other countries, it’s just telling the story of these two peoples bad decisions.
Some doctors in the UK stage these types of news, as they have been losing their patients to doctors abroad who provide better treatment at a lower cost.

If the NHS was serious about this issue they would do a lot more to help people BEFORE they get to the stage of needing surgery to reduce obesity! There needs to be local hubs in communities to deal with health and nutrition to tackle obesity. NHS could set up local slimming clubs along the lines of Slimming World/Weight Watchers but with dietitians, psychologists, (sports)personal trainers/physical therapists, cooks who can teach about budgeting, food clubs that can buy nutritious food in bulk from farmers and suppliers so that people who are poor can eat the way they are supposed to, even collaborating with local restaurants who need to offload food at the end of a shift so it doesn’t go to waste. There is so much the NHS can do but doesn’t do. There is a conversation about prevention being better than cure that this country needs to have.
They do, I am overweight. My bmi is 32 and was given free gym membership one day a week and nutritional advice. Needless to say, I didn't make use of them. So really, should I blame the NHS? There are resources out there but people don't want to put the effort
