All of them, but I esp want to go check out the color stuff you mentioned! Finding out that I was cool was helpful, I would love to know even more about those color palettes because I’m not naturally stylish (surprising, I know 🙃😝).
I'm in the process of dressing my self for me and noone else, its hard and I thought it was just me being lazy or not loving myself enough, but I'm learning that I am enough and I don't need to impress the people around me, just my daughter as you said it 😊, thank you for that 😁😁😁😁😁. Have a great 😀 day.
When I read 60 I was expecting a lot that I wouldn’t relate to but... pretty much everything. 😅 Especially 28 though, especially in quarantine - I have taken so much comfort in dressing properly every day even when I’m staying in and not seeing anyone.
I got teared up when you talked about your daughter and how she watches you get dressed in the morning. Our words are so powerful, for either good or bad. Your words are making a difference in your own life, for your daughter, and, truly, for all of us. Thank you so much Erica. I love seeing your transformation. It gives me hope!
Waiting 30 hours is such a great idea. I adopted a "wait a day" motto when my kids were young and really really really wanted something at the store. I never bought my kids anything when shopping but if they had their own money they could buy whatever they wanted however, we always said "wait a day and then if you still really want it, I'll bring you back". I also adopted this philosophy for my own expenditures. Most of the time we never went back. This also applies to writing an email when upset about something "wait a day before sending it and then read it again before sending it". Saves so much money, kids begging, anguish, clutter. And yes, we did go back to the store once in awhile. This is absolutely the best course of action with online ordering as well.
Erica, Change your hangers to the velveteen ones. It holds your clothes better and doesn't leave the pokey look on your clothes. Now you don't have to waste the ones you have, give them to the kids. But for you and your husband, get the hangers that give you more room because they are thinner and more uniform. Just a suggestion, I know you'll need to budget them in, but they aren't to expensive. Also for outer coats, get the wooden hangers. Sweaters can be folded and put in a basket in the closet or on a shelf. You'll be surprised how nice your closet will look. Love your channel and your sparkling personality. Thanks for sharing.
I love everything about this video. Wow! You've learned a lot this year. When we were first in lockdown I stopped wearing earrings for several months because who cares, no one sees me. Then I realized that I see me and I care! Self love and lack of judgement in your closet is huge. Thanks for taking the time to share all of these great lessons with us. You have grown so much this past year, good for you for taking the time to acknowledge your progress and share with us, you are truly an amazing teacher. ❤️
Erica oh my goodness, you slayed this video.... I had a bad day, then I decided to get comfy, and watch your video, I watch all your videos, but this one was SPECIAL.... you really spoke from your heart to help your subscribers, and I can’t help but think how many women you helped today. I think we all learned something in 2020... as for me, I learned to accept the fact that I have curly hair, and to stop trying to blow it out, flat iron it etc etc ... when covid struck, I decided to wear my hair naturally curly, it has been a game changer for me, I finally feel FREE and LIBERATED... every single word you said was amazing, and so true... During covid I also went plant based and lost 20 lbs which brought me to goal, I took all my clothes and donated them, and little by little rebuilt my wardrobe, kind of hard not being able to go into dressing room and try on, but with many trips back and forth to curbside pick up, I have about a 35 piece wardrobe now, I love everything I have, and even though I am home a lot, I try to dress up, and not just wear yoga pants, I put make up on, and always some jewelry, so watching this video really hit home for me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just discovered your videos. The most amazing thing is how much you have changed since the beginning. Physically and mentally you are lighter and brighter! Everything about you seems so much healthier! Thank you for sharing your journey.
"Wear what makes you happy" - Love this one!!! I live in "small town" USA and people tend to be very judgmental. I let that keep me from wearing certain things I loved because they were a "little extra" :) - no longer!!!! I wear it. If they want to talk about me...let them! :) I have been a flylady fan for a LONG time. I think I started following her system in 1998 ish and I hate wearing shoes. I finally found a pair of slippers with a rubber bottom and those are my "shoes" in the house.
I love my rainbow-coloured Crocs! They are my house shoes. I don't care if other people think they are ugly - they are comfortable and the rainbow colours make me happy when I look at them. :D
Wow you have great tips. I liked " No means saying Yes to something better." And self care, it's an example I've tried to love myself. This was great, thank you 🌷🌿
Love how much you have learnt, embrace yourself is invaluable. I grew up around women who wouldn’t leave the house without makeup, I choose not to give my daughters that message! I use makeup on my terms when I feel like it, I’m proud to say so do my daughters. Best lesson of all ‘stop judging myself.’ Great message. 👏❤️
#61 It's OK to "dress up" leggings and yoga pants, especially in 2020. Sometimes, I pair a pretty top, makeup, and accessories with my leggings. It still feels good. :) Thanks a bunch for a great video. Love your channel...we're the same age! But I'm still in the researching and planning (procrastination?) stage of my "minimalish" journey.
I sit here watching this, at my absolutely heaviest, and can hear you saying embrace the curve, the body changes, and I am worth it. THANK YOU PS: My colors are navy, white, and blush pink! I add mustard yellow and hunter green in the fall/winter
#38 I use to wear old t shirts as PJ’s but now I buy matching PJ tops and bottoms and have a new set for every day of the week and they’re seasonal. It’s now a treat to get ready for bed.
I think that green dress could be a great base for a coral/orange coloured sweater/cardigan/blazer/long sleeved shirt/scarf, and I think that would be a good color combo for you!
Great advice to get proper undergarments. I used to think, who cares what is hidden under clothing, but it certainly makes a huge difference in how your outfit looks on your body.
Glad to hear your buying nice nite wear. You deserve to feel good all the time. Maybe let hubby know your preferred styles and colors for next time he shops.
So enjoy your channel! I am a 66 year old semi retired mother of 4 grown sons. I have always had body issues and a dysfunctional relationship with food. I never felt worthy of nice cloths or really anything nice. I don't have any daughters but sadly I have passed that poor body image to my son's! They think they are"fat" when they clearly aren't! You are modeling the opposite to your dear children. Bless you and yours
I discovered years ago that I like wearing only tee shirts for every day wear; short sleeve for warm weather, 3/4 sleeve length for spring and Fall, and petite large long sleeve ones for winter, (so the sleeves don't go below my wrists which bug me.). I used to have lots of colors before I minimized, now have a palate of mostly blues, gray, and a little black. So much easier! I only have a few tops I wear that are either a little more patterned, or use a cardigan or are a dressier sweater for going out with a friend or to dinner, because these items need to be dried flat or hung to dry, and I don't want to bother on a daily basis! I own NO dresses or skirts or blouses any more!
Hate sleeves that go past my wrists, too! I love that I've also narrowed down sleeve lengths! It makes me so happy, I have very few items in my wardrobe and I wear them in various combinations on repeat and love every one of them.
My favourite part is seeing the open spaces I've created. I used to be that person who took pride in re-organising and creating little pockets of space, by condensing stuff, putting it into different storage solutions. Not now. Now it's about being honest as to whether things are actually being used or not and not feeling guilty when it is honestly no. I decluttered my kitchen quarantined area this week (the back of one of the cupboards) I hadn't reached into the space for 6 months, it was time. Now when you open that cupboard you can see what is there on glance, nothing is hidden in the back.
One of the things I like best about watching your journey is the development of mindfulness - which to me is living consciously. I think above all, your journey into yourself and how decluttering and organising allowed you to meet yourself and start to decide consciously who you wanted to be - that's where I also want to be and I'm on my own journey to achieve that - and it's lovely to have company and inspiration 😊
Thank you Erica... I love Flylady but every day is not dress to shoes! With me most days aren't but I still get stuff done. Thank you for making me feel better. I have fibro and I have to do things at my pace.
I keep thinking you must be a Dave Ramsey fan! I relate to a lot of your discoveries! I have learned a lot in 2020 as well, many of the same things! I hope that your green polka dot shirt will stay in your wardrobe even though it is not in your color wheel along with the green dress! That top looks amazing on you!
2020 has taught me that leggings and joggers are my go-to choices since I've retired from teaching in-person and now only tutor virtually. I also do not wear shoes at home but have bought slipper socks that I can wear at home in the winter. I've also lost weight but I'd been hesitant to get rid of my old pants, thinking I might slip up and need them again. But if and when I do, I could buy new pants! Thank you for helping me to see that I should get rid of these clothes that no longer fit. I loved this video!
I struggle with the dressing to shoes. I like to have "cleaning" clothes on when I'm deep cleaning so I usually stay in old clothes (or pjs) for the day unless I'm going out. However, I'm realizing that I don't deep clean every day...🤔 When I actually do get dressed for the day, I feel like I can accomplish so much. Why don't I do it more often?!! Oh yeah, laziness.
This was great! Random thoughts. I'm not a curvy girl but I've many fashionista friends (like, in the biz) who are: 1) Yoga pants are better than leggings which emphasize the larger midsection; 2) Season colors - so big in the 80s - shld only be a guide. Everyone can rock black and some greys (i.e. darker, warmer ones for spring/autumns); 3) Jewelry shld be proportional to one's size. Erica, you could rock a statement necklace when going out! On a petite, skinny woman (me), it would overwhelm her.
I like polyester! Your not alone in that. My favorite points that you made were that you could go to your closet and pick anything and you know it will fit and look good. One thing I need to work on is dressing for myself. I used to think that whenever I go out of the house (before 2020 hit) that I need to dress up a bit. My absolute favorite clothes are a t-shirt and jeans. It fits my lifestyle as a stay at home mom. I think I'm going to wear those more 😄. Thank you for your encouragement and motivation! You rock!
You’ve inspired me!!! I’m staying in PJ’s way too much! It’s kind of depressing. Also clothes shopping is an overwhelming task for me, I need to figure out my color and style. THANK YOU ERICA 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I learned that wearing loose fitting dresses with maternity leggings underneath is the style that works for my body right now. I have diastasis recti and if I wear anything even slightly fitted I look 4 months pregnant. I also have nerve damage and inflammation that make it so that I need the support of maternity pants to not be in pain all the time but I've always struggled to find pants that fit right. I figured out leggings are super comfortable but I don't wear them as outerwear so I ended buying several dresses in varying lengths and fabrics, I love all of them. I feel feminine even though they are all very loose fitting and I'm more comfortable in my clothes than I have been in a very long time, like since before having kids. I still hate my body but at least I'm finally to a point where I feel comfortable in clothes again.
Please don’t hate your body. Love it for the children it has given you. Love it because you can get around in it and do the things that you need to do each day. Love it because you can do some things that make you happy with it. Love it because you are alive and the world really is amazing and beautiful despite the troubles we are all in now. I too have chronic pain and I’ve NEVER felt I had a traditionally attractive body but I have made a decision to accept myself as I am and appreciate what I CAN do. There is great freedom in that. Please be kind to yourself.
My mum has always loved that I wear my dress up clothes on an ordinary day. I feel special so act more confident. Love the 90/90 rule, will give it a try! Thanks Erica x
I love flylady advocate Diane in Denmark's advice to select your clothes the day/night before...for me, this eliminates that morning fog. She also has a lot of fun ideas about accessories and hygge in your home as well! Love that you filmed inside your closet today. You are looking so much happier one year into your minimalish journey. Yay for you!
The pajama thing was monumental for me...I have used old shirts as pj shirts for so long.....i always felt that it would be wasteful to buy real pjs....but wow....every year or 2, it should be allowed. 🙂
I realized the same thing about getting dressed and getting a confidence boost about a week ago. Except with doing my hair. I had gone since the beginning of March since my last hair cut, and eyebrow wax and tint. I never realized how much I didn’t feel like myself or anything like that until I was finally able to get back in the chair!!! It’s amazing what taking the time to do something so basic can do for you mood.
i cant even express to you how you have blessed me with this video. thank you for being real and speaking truth. i was in tears about being a great role model to your daughter. giving yourself self care and loving yourself!!! as a mamma of six ages 2-12 my body has DEFINITELY changed but since i was 10 i never liked myself anyway so wow what powerful words you spoke to my heart about loving who you are. THANK YOU BLESSINGS 😊
Don't forget to include your son's along in sharing your feelings of empowerment. Boys can learn from you as well. Fashion, grooming, and feeling self confident is not just for girls.
#55 made me 😂 seeing a steamer and asking, "what is happening right now?!" 18:53 The first time I learned of a steamer I decluttered my iron and bought a steamer off Amazon on the same day. 🙌🏻
Erica, loved this video!!!! Great observations. And I'm older than you and getting back to basics. Trying to sell my stuff and sticking to palette I had liked in my younger days. And also dress for myself.😊You have evolved and are happier. Bet Andy can see it! Stay safe!
Thank you SO MUCH for this!! I am on a big healing journey, and honestly a lot of what you said resonates with my current stage in life. I love the part about "elevate your purse game". I used to think harshly about people who spent their money on name brand bags...until I bought a used Kate Spade off FB Marketplace a few months ago. I. Feel. FANCY. when I carry that...and then I saw my self in the mirror and was like whoa! Kate Spade belongs with jeans and a nicer shirt, not the sweats used to train the dogs! Then I noticed I was wearing jeans more and more, not just bumming all the time. Big confidence booster, all stemming from a used purse lol. This video was exactly what my life needed right now as my family prepares to start our next chapter in the new year. Thank you so much for this!!! Your channel has been a blessing for me ❤️
Great video! Following your personal growth this year has been amazing. You are so authentic and relatable. I also started wearing dresses this year and I love them. I’m so much more comfortable without waistbands. I feel a bit self conscious about wearing dresses because I feel so many people link women wearing dresses every day to women being controlled and fundamentalism. That’s so so far from my life. I know I shouldn’t worry what people think but I do. I have also been spending more time on self care this year. I’m on a weight loss journey and I’ve recently lost 30+lbs (many more to go) and I feel a little more comfortable in my skin. One thing I struggle with is make up. Firstly I’m not very good with make up, I only use a few items. I look much better with some make up on. My second struggle is with the message it sends my daughter. I want her to be happy with her body and how she is naturally. I wonder what message I send her when she sees me applying/wearing make up. Wondering what others think about this?
@@EricaLucasLoves drastically cutting back on carbs. I’m not doing keto or anything strict but having tried things like weight watchers with my only success being initial water weight loss, I have realized that my body just can’t process many carbs. Quitting bread has made a huge difference. I used to eat toast for breakfast and then a sandwich at lunch most days. Eliminating bread has forced me to be more creative with breakfast and lunch, especially as I haven’t replaced with other high carb foods. I’ve also drastically decreased my refined sugar consumption. It hasn’t been anywhere near as hard as I thought. I lost most of the weight in the first 3-4 months (since June) but have been bouncing around a bit since the weather cooled and I’m wanting warming foods and wanting to snack more. I’ve recently dusted off my treadmill and have been walking briskly, on an incline, for 30 minutes each morning. It hasn’t changed the number in the scale but I’m definitely less blobby and deep down I can feel things firming up a bit. I still have about 50lbs to go but I’m enjoying being the lightest I’ve been since before my 15 year old was born
I really really to what you said about getting dressed and "ready" being a form of self-care! Putting on "real clothes" and a bit of makeup makes me feel more like myself. And that in turn makes me feel more prepared to take on the day!
You look beautiful, confident and happy, Erica! Your new frames really bring out your eyes...how pretty! Don’t hides those. I am so proud of you for finally focusing on you and learning more about yourself and your own needs. You inspire me. 🤗. Joy spreads, girl. God Bless you, much love🙏🏻💕
Remember you can wear shades and tones of colors. Hard bright red would be too stark but a deep coral or persimmon would be stunning. Same with blue. Navy might be too hard but a cornflower or cadet blue....lovely!
Absolutely loved #30! You're setting a great example - and not just for your daughter. I have enjoyed watching your journey (partly because your age and lifestyle reflect mine) and it is lovely to actually see your confidence visibly in your videos now. Well done you!
Thank you Erica. I'm about to retire and I got an awful lot out of this video. Retirement means (hopefully) less clothes. It means being able to wear what makes me happy. I'm so looking forward to it
I really like your new glasses on you! They are not thick framed as your other glasses and you really look good wearing them. And, they dress up and slim your face and look great with all of your clothes and jewelry. You are too pretty Erica to be hiding your face behind those other big glasses!
I'm headed vaguely in the right-ish direction, but I think in 2021 I'll start working on an intentional wardrobe. And style. These closet videos are so helpful.
Hi Erica!!Thanks for all sll the tips loved them 🥰 !!I am glad to know I am not the only one who wears holey shirts to bed lol!!I ruin clothe thou!!Everything I have I either bleach or tear lol!! I need to find tough Clothing lol!!!
Erica, you're beautiful! I have loved watching you make these changes to take care of yourself and become more confident! These are really valuable lessons.
I find things are also mich easier to combine when you have you colours figured out. Mine are blue, white and coral so everything just goes together. And while I’m typing this, you’re just saying it. 😂 I sweat horribly in Polyester so I try to stick to cotton but polyester is often so much easier when it comes to washing and ironing.
Haha the number 24. There is a blouse in a certain style and color i'm looking for almost 6 years. The color was in mode last years, but not the style. I think I will sew it.
Your messy coffee drinker statement made me laugh. Tip: Wear a full apron covering the chest area for your coffee at home. I too am a messy eater (with a chest). I have since added it to my meal time and it has saved a lot of shirts from permanent stains.
I loved this video I to have been becoming more minimalist this year like you learning to accept me and my body you have thought me so much this year thank you . You are a beautiful woman you should be proud of yourself .💗
This year I’ve gone the longest period in my life without buying new clothes. I stopped opening/unsubscribed from the countless sale emails from my favorite stores and shopped from my closet. I can honestly say there is nothing I need clothing wise as my “good” clothes have hardly been worn and I have more than enough everyday wear. It’s a great feeling. My last purchase was a dress for my son’s 21st birthday party just before we had covid lockdown here in Mid March (South Australia) and my goal is to get through a full 12 months without buying any clothing.
Love it!!! You deserve a robe (or 2 or 3) and some more pjs/lounge wear. You absolutely deserve it 👍. The Daily Connoisseur and Inspired by Nikki. Those two are UA-cam royalty 👑. They taught me a lot about myself, and the way I dress, and it really helps with my self esteem. 😊
I don’t like sweaters either I’m so uncomfortable every time I try to wear one and now you finally figured it out for me😀 I just don’t like sweaters. Who knew?
Which numbers did you connect with?
All of them, but I esp want to go check out the color stuff you mentioned! Finding out that I was cool was helpful, I would love to know even more about those color palettes because I’m not naturally stylish (surprising, I know 🙃😝).

Same!
I have indoor shoes. I take them with me when invited out to family homes . Haven't the courage to change shoes in friends homes
I love hearing about how your daughter is learning from your example! Thank you for all of your videos and sharing your journey! 💕
You rock!
A great video Erica. Now off to sort out my wardrobe for spring. 🙏🙏🏡🏡💚💚
Women have ploughed fields in dresses....mopping the floor in a dress is just fine
I wear a long dress every single day. I even run in dresses. Totally ok.
It's lack of trying to think one can't.
@@melissahoneybee8493 thank you for your kind words ♥️
Yes to getting a bra fitting! I thought I wore a 38B and found out I was a 38D. I went home and threw out my old bras and bought new ones.
I watched your video all the time, you are awesome,,, nothing else to say,,,, thank you for being you.
A big style takeaway for you in 2020 is your hairstyle change: no more pony tail. You've got great hair that looks fabulous down.
I imagine fringe and a high pony tail would fit her well, just like Alicia Sierra.
Oh yeah!
I approve this message! Great video Erica! Can't wait to see where your style journey takes you next, because you deserve to feel beautiful!
I just recently found you on UA-cam and love to follow your journey. I'm almost 59 and started my own a while ago.
Don't forget to include your son's along in sharing your feelings of empowerment. Boys can learn from you as well. Fashion, grooming, and feeling self confident is not just for girls.
Very true!
I watch Matt too! And like him I have a uniform wardrobe; mine is just all black and white mixed in sometimes, but mostly black.
#55 made me 😂 seeing a steamer and asking, "what is happening right now?!" 18:53
The first time I learned of a steamer I decluttered my iron and bought a steamer off Amazon on the same day. 🙌🏻
I like non iron items lol. That’s my first check when I look at something I am thinking about buying 😁😁
This may be your very best video ever!
Thank you for this video ❤ I dress for myself too!!!🎉
Erica, loved this video!!!!
Awesome Ann! What measures have you taken to lose the weight?
I love this, everything in your closet is an ACTUAL option.
FYI.... Rayon is a derived from a natural fabric (woodpulp), but processed in a very synthetic way- sort of half and half
Erica, this is so great!! ❤ You've given me inspiration! Love your channel, friend! 😁
Remember you can wear shades and tones of colors. Hard bright red would be too stark but a deep coral or persimmon would be stunning. Same with blue. Navy might be too hard but a cornflower or cadet blue....lovely!
Best video about clothing on the web.
A great blog. Made me rethink several points for MY closet!
Absolutely loved #30! You're setting a great example - and not just for your daughter. I have enjoyed watching your journey (partly because your age and lifestyle reflect mine) and it is lovely to actually see your confidence visibly in your videos now. Well done you!
Yayyy for body acceptance and not judging yourself 💛 You're awesome!!! 🌞 Maybe you can teach me how to learn that!
I love the sweater from your Andy... Sweater Box will help it keep it shape ...Hangers ruin at the shoulders
Yessss!! So many great tips!! I’m doing the 90/90 rule right now!!
Also, I just LOVE you!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
I seriously can't believe you've made all of this change in two years. I wonder, if I had tracked my progress, how long it took me!
Killing it with this video, girl!💃🏽
This is my absolute favorite "minimalist closet" video I've ever watched (and I can't count how many I've seen!). So useful and inspiring 🌞
Can’t wait to watch your video!! 🤩 your videos are so helpful 🥰
Great video! The lessons we teach our girls are so important ❤ x x x
Love this! I'm a messy tea drinker. My clothing is all washable too.
Thank you Erica. I'm about to retire and I got an awful lot out of this video. Retirement means (hopefully) less clothes. It means being able to wear what makes me happy. I'm so looking forward to it
The coat hanger trip! I have never heard of that. Great idea!!!
I really like your new glasses on you! They are not thick framed as your other glasses and you really look good wearing them. And, they dress up and slim your face and look great with all of your clothes and jewelry. You are too pretty Erica to be hiding your face behind those other big glasses!
Love your journey, friend! You always seem so happy now!
This is an excellent video. Thank you for sharing with us.
Oh my, the YOGURT! My windows also somehow have yogurt handprints. Even when I think I’ve cleaned it up, once it’s dry, it’s still there!
I like the way you take care of yourself and that your daughter is looking up to you and following with your wardrobe! Very cool!!!
Love the message you are teaching your daughter. ❤
I'm headed vaguely in the right-ish direction, but I think in 2021 I'll start working on an intentional wardrobe. And style. These closet videos are so helpful.
I am the same in enjoying polyester. It so easy to wash and wear. No ironing or colors fading.
I will never get over how gorg your hair is!!
That lovely cream cable sweater needs a big thick fluffy coat hanger to keep the shoulders in good shape. Just saying.
Loving your hair and new glasses, you're beautiful!
Who knew?
Such a great list! I love your honesty and supportive tone. You are doing God’s work!
