  • The awning room is working out really well, I'm pleased with this as a springtime hot tent shelter. More snow forecasted mid week, I'll have the cameras ready. ~ Brian (& Sierra - woof!)

Married mother of 5, there’s nothing and I do mean NOTHING I dream to do more then to have my family out camping and seeing the world in a tent/tiny house/topper. Whichever!! I looooong to wake up early when everyone’s asleep to start coffee and breakfast the way you do. The peace I can feel radiating off of you, is truly what I want most. I’m still trying to figure out how we can make it work. God do I want to make it work. The simple life with my family. That’s all I really want in life.

Doggies are good to have during a snow storm. Three years ago I lost power in my trailer for four days during an ice storm and I wound up making a fort in the living room. Outside high was 12° inside the trailer was 33° and inside the fort with the dog was 56°. She did a good job keeping my feet warm

I love how you love your sweet baby girl. I lost my best friend a couple of years ago, I had him for over 15 years. It absolutely killed me when he finally passed on. 15 years between a man and his dog is a long time. We had some of the best times of my life together that I will never forget. I STILL cry over him... I can't bring myself to get another dog. Anyway, I'm sorry I rambled on about my dog, just the way you are with her reminded me of Brutus and me. I'm new to your channel, and I absolutely LOVE it. I wish I could do the same kind of thing. I'm very interested in living a lifestyle like this. Awesome job brother!! Stay safe and keep up the good work!!

Agree on the dog sentiments. We know we are going to go through pain when we have to say goodbye, but we keep getting them....true love for these best of friends! I cry for 4-5 days each time.

Justin Hall Sorry about your best friend :(
Regarding getting another dog, absolutely do it, your past friend would totally approve and your new friend will help you heal, times I felt no way I could get another and he/she becomes your new best friend and you can cherish past times and smile about them while sharing and cherishing new times, they heal you every time :) Don’t feel like you’re “cheating” on your past friend If that’s how your feeling. Awesome venture Rick! I’m seriously considering the ARB enclosed set up for the awning. I was thinking it wasn’t as durable enough like the roof top tents but I don’t like how big and heavy they are and taking up the whole rack whole the awning and enclosure takes up hardly any space. After seeing what yours is going through, I think I’m feeling pretty confident about it!

Hey Justin, I'm so sorry to hear about Brutus. 15 years, man that's a long time together! I bet you have some great memories from your time together. I hate to think about the day when Sierra will no longer be with me, that's going to be extremely tough. She's pulled me through some dark times and I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for her. It's amazing how much an animal can influence your life when there's a special connection. Thanks for telling me about your dog, I love hearing stories from other dog owners. Hope you are having a great start to the weekend! ~ Brian

      We Hear you-
He had a great, long life -no doubt about it-
And was loved and clearly missed
      My boy was also 15
And I carried him up a hill to a grave site with a view of a farm field while the last - post- death air left his body - brutal.
15: That’s many, many thousands of hours by our side
      Buddies
Every day with your pet close by is a gift
      Loss is never easy
And yes, some videos have great dogs included which does stir memories of days past with our dogs which isn’t always a bad thing ...kinda depends

I have the same ARB 2500 awning and tent setup on my Vanagon Westfalia. The first time I used it was on the Olympic peninsula and it rained about 2 inches that night. I didn't put enough angle for runoff and the awning got destroyed, no tears but the support arms broke and everything was tweaked. Lucky for me ARB's USA HQ is near where I live. Took it to them to see if it could be fixed, and they just exchanged me for a new one. Best customer service ever, great people.

Well... I need to get ready... because at 68 years young... I"m having to start over and live in my Vintage 1972 Travel Trailer... Not the first time I have lived in a Travel Trailer I have "Flipped" 17 of them... thought this one was my last one... and now I'm find myself having to live in it... I don't know if I'm bragging or complaining...
Moving back to Albuquerque, New Mexico (US)... and RE-Opening my Acting Studio... Social Security isn't enough money to live on... besides I want to Teach Acting again... but this time... I want to incorporate "Mystery Dinner Theatre" ...
... this is why I am looking at the video... because I need another 'room' on the side of my Tiny Travel Trailer ...
... if I'm smart... I'll turn this Travel Trailer into a Food Trailer and put it with my Dinner Theatre...

It was pretty awesome. I’m former law enforcement and a veteran so I was not intimidated in the least about not having utilities or amenities additionally as a child I grew up under austere conditions in a migrant labor camp. I’m third gen child of legal legal immigrants. Grandparents worked Texas cotton fields.
I must say it was pretty cold even in the spring taking a solar shower in our makeshift pallet shower. 🥶 and I did not realize how “feral” I’d become till I rejoined civilization.
The only thing that scared the absolute crapola outta me was: We left our campsite with overlooks to Pike Peak to get supplies. When we returned I walked into our tent and noticed that the blowup mattress we used was moved away from the tent wall it was originally leaning against was kinda askew in the middle of the tent. As I walked into the tent and closer to the bed I saw mud prints on the sheets...big one’s, for the most part the contents inside the tent were undisturbed, it was eerie. I realized we had been invaded by a bear. I started frantically looking all over for where it could have come from!!! Well I found its access point cause the front of the tent was zipped up tight. We had a “surgical precision” cut/sliced along one of the windows. This bear cut along the window seam and crawled on top of the bed in front of the window. The bed slid on the slightly sloping floor and was jammed on the opposite wall of the tent. I also found what the bear was looking for “my BIG NO NO” fragrant shampoo. The bag it was in was shredded!!! But did not take the shampoo or try to eat it. Bottles were intact.
We spent the early Spring and Summer building a very basic cabin and kept our cooking area separated from our sleeping quarters. On a second occasion the bear returned to our site and peeled back the door to a metal travel trailer with no windows. We had stored our food in closed containers, inside a cooler, inside the padlocked trailer. This bear peeled back the lower corner of the door (extremely strong) and reached in with one paw and removed things from inside the cooler. We found the empty jars scattered all over the front of the trailer. This bear ATE EVERYTHING and LICKED EVERYTHING SPARKLING CLEAN.
Once a bear has you in its hunting/foraging area it will continue to come back. We took countermeasures (weapons) and kept our alarm dog close. Regardless I still plan on leaving the big city and taking my nursing, farming, homesteading skills back to the mountain as soon as I can. Takes money to set up safely. Good luck to you out there!! Stay safe and warm.

It was pretty awesome. I’m former law enforcement and a veteran so I was not intimidated in the least about not having utilities or amenities additionally as a child I grew up under austere conditions in a migrant labor camp. I’m third gen child of legal immigrants. Grandparents worked Texas cotton fields.

I have the newer version room and I've already been through some bad wind storms in the high desert of Nevada and right now I'm going through a snow storm. It's holding up like a champ. I'm getting ready to do a review. Great video man.
