A family member was a staunch believer in the lyrics of this song. His neurologist asked him if he understood that he had the health problems if a man between 75-85yo at his then 44 1/2 yo age. He told him clearly the path he walked to loosing the use of his right side and his speech. He now has 50% use of his rt leg and 50-90% speech revovery. 0 use of his right arm. He started smoking again in year one. Then drinking again. Not nearly at the same rate but still. I was a functioning alcaholic and a smoker for 20 years. I'm not unaware of the fear of the thought of living without those daily crutches. I asked for deliverance and quit smoking in95, drinking heavily in 98. I would be lucky to be alive today at 70 if l had not chosen to stop pouring poisons into my body every day of my life. Everything goes fine without - fill in the blank.

Grew up with this guy a block down the street. Amarillo Texas Proud I even remember his dog Peanut. What a great guy, making some great music.
