THIS is how country music is meant to sound! And the video is excellent! It seriously dips into the actual history of the west. There were a LOT of cowboys who were black. And Bass Reeves, one of the most honest and honorable men to stand on American soil, was black. He was also one of our greatest lawmen, if not THE greatest. So, yeah, the video is brilliant, but the rough, gritty voice of the singer...he sounds like a man sitting by the fire after a hard day chasing cows and eating their dust.
Of course I've subscribed. Now ima gonna look these guys up.
This isn't Country. This is Rock Music with some Country seasoning. If you listen to enough rock you'd know the difference. 1960s-80's is Country music. Then Garth Brooks introduced rock music to the mix and it has been a fusion ever since.
You're probably right, I haven't listened to enough rock music. I mean, I've only been listening to it since the 50s. Beatles, Beach Boys, CCR, The Who, Sly and the Family Stone, Fifth Dimension, Motown, I love them all. Loved the 70s and 80s too. I listen to classic rock stations. But you're right, I SHOULD listen to more.
And let's not forget Charlie Pride and Darius Rucker.
None of those autotuned metrosexuals whining about trucks and girls and booze in tedious song after tedious song.
@@GenXAccordCountry came from irish and scottish folk music originally, so true country sounds a LOT different then even 60s-80s country. Country rock is what this is however, and damn good country rock.
I love it when the UA-cam algorithm shows me a band that I instantly fall in love with and need to buy all their music/see them live. This is giving me serious Allman Brothers vibes. Dude is sangin' his ass off, and seeing him in old west gear is icing on the cake. Played this for my dad and he's jamming too.

I get the country reference! There’s something about this music that wants me to think this is older rock. An older sound that makes ppl think country. Blues, Rock more than Country to my ears.

I love that we are getting more black artists in genres that you don't typically hear them singing in. This song is incredible and gives me Chris Stapleton/Steel Drivers vibes.
Black artists have ALWAYS crossed genres in some form or fashion. It's the record industry that has boxed Black musicians into the kinds of music they can do. That's why it's great that independent music sites like Bandcamp and SoundCloud exist and artists like this aren't going through the "normal" channels. Thankfully, UA-cam is helping more people discover this fantastic group.
