  • This was one of the best things I’ve been a part of. The 5 of us started in Girwood and hiked 27miles (according to our gps watches), and finished at the Eagle River Nature Center. We split the hike up over a long weekend so we could slow our pace and enjoy the beauty of the trail. We did 3.5 up hill miles the first evening and camped on top the mountain at Crow Pass. (This was the steepest up hill terrain of the trail). Day 2 we hiked 10.7 miles including a river crossing before camping for the night. Be prepared for mostly tall brush and a small trail with a lot of rocks. Day 3 we did another 10 miles including one more river crossing and several creek crossing and plenty of mud to walk through. We found a spot by the river to camp, just be prepared for tons of mosquitos. Day 4 we hiked 3 miles to the nature center and finished our trip. During the video you will see that I had a fishing rod. I was unable to fish during our trip do to the waters being closed to fishing during our trip (June 20-23). Keep the regs in mind as they are different depending on time of the year.
