Bells of Saint John is such a mixed episode. It's fine overall, but as a companion introduction, especially coming straight after the _awesome_ introduction in The Snowmen, it just doesn't really reach the same height. It's understandable how much people wanted the past-Clara back over present-Clara, because even the Doctor doesn't really allow present-Clara to really have a proper moment like he did with the past version.
4:10 Yes, we did! And, yes it is. 15:06 Notice that in spite of being on a crashing plane, Clara is still holding her tea cup! British to the core! 20:14 Riding a motorcycle up the side of the Shard is so 3rd Doctor!
Little easter egg at 11:53, in the book Clara writes in her age every year except at age 16 - since this episode takes place in 2013 when Clara is 24, she would have been 16 in 2005. In a later episode we see that her mother died in 2005.
I have always considered this at the 2012ish version of "The Idiot's Lantern". Also, FYI... when this episode aired, people posted the "symbols" of the wifi on chat sites, and some of us copied and pasted them as the names of our wifis....

Mainly the fact at how long she ended up staying I think, and how much importance the writer seemed to think she had. Also, that many companions during their run are given the Important treatment. I mean, Rose “Swallowed the Time Vortex” Tyler, Donna “Most Important Woman In All Of Creation” Noble, River “Literally Part Time Lord/Married To The Doctor” Song.... my point is that everyone loves those characters despite how ridiculously hyped up they were in their runs, but people don’t seem to extend that treatment to Clara.

That book and the one featured in "The Angels Take Manhattan" are actual novels. But.... its the LAST PAGE that is worth a read.....Also, have you ever seen the obituary for Amelia Williams?
The name on the book says AMELIA WILLIAMS.. She had to take Rorys last name cause they werre stuck in new york , at those times i guess, it was normal that the wife takes the husbands last name.. FUN FACT she wanted to keep her last name she said in an episode. But now Rory had the last laugh there at least !! lol
did someone explained to him who is GI? the great intelligence is a classic who villain but i don't know that much about him, i won't try to explain, all i know is the current who episode where it appears (the snowmen, this episode, ...)
Dunno if it's been said before, but the directing feels weird in this episode (and for a lot of Series 7) because the idea was for each episode to be like a standalone blockbuster. I'm not a huge fan of 7 but it definitely feels unique and grand.
A bit sooner than that. Although I believe he's on season 10 or something in real time, he's just uploading these afterwards. So he already knows about her.
Rings of Akhaten might be my all time least favourite episode of Dr. Who ever, it's maximum levels of cringe and kinda relies too heavily on nostalgia for series 1 (specifically episode 2 of that series, they're practically the same episode even). The Long Song is decent, but sadly is also cringe albeit cringe by proxy or by association. Also the speech? Don't get me started on the speech, it is the epicentre of all that is cringey and bad about Series 7 as a whole. It's the worst speech the Doctor has ever given. Ever. It tries way too hard, it doesn't tell us anything we don't already know about the Doctor not even the 11th Doctor specifically, and for what? Because the writers were like, "S**t we haven't done anything even close to interesting or new this episode, what do we do?" "I know! Throw in a speech that sounds like it was ripped straight from a moody teenager's diary and make it all about how tormented the Doctor is about the bad things that have happened to him or that he's done to others! Because we've never done that before!!!" "MY GOD, YOU'RE A GENIUS!" Boom! Done! Horrificly bad episode of Dr. Who P.S - Sorry I probably got a bit carried away there, but it needs said or I felt compelled or something, I dunno too late now I guess :P
Also! Continuing the unoriginality of this episode, this is now the 2nd time we see an "evil" sentient/living star. The 1st time being in series 3 episode 7 "42", the only difference this time is that the star in Rings of Akhaten has a "scary" face and has some different abilities... Whoop dee doo!

Americans don’t understand what they’re missing with jammy dodgers
Love this reaction!
I configured my router to show a pair of guest networks using special UTF-8 symbols just for fun. Same with my phone's hotspot host settings :D
Remember this phrase “woman in the shop”. You’ll get payoff in about 2 seasons.
A bit sooner than that.
Although I believe he's on season 10 or something in real time, he's just uploading these afterwards. So he already knows about her.
Her name is Clara not Oswin!
Oh that was chilling! 6:01
the author is amelia williams aka amy pond :OOOOO
Watching this right now!
can't wait till u see the day of the doctor, so good best season seven-episode/ special in my opinion
Holy crap @ 3:58, of all the times I've seen this episode over the years I've never caught the name of the author, Good eye Failwhale :|
She pressed 4 instead of 3 and 23 was missing in the book there's something significant about 3
I love is new coat. It so much longer and piratey. ❤😁
We won’t hear about the helpline/woman in the shop ever again.
I can't wait for the next episode..Not my favorite episode really except for his speech and the long song, it's a bop.
Who
P.S - Sorry I probably got a bit carried away there, but it needs said or I felt compelled or something, I dunno too late now I guess :P
Rings of Akhaten is beautiful. This is the weirdest take I've ever seen.
Oh come on, Rings of Akhaten is lovely. I hate Moffat, but even I can say that episode is gorgeous.
