    I see the line on your belly! I would recommend buying bra pads if you haven't already, breast milk may stain your bras and/or eventually leak through which is embarrassing. Ask me how I know. LOL Fair warning, don't wait to empty your bladder if you feel like you need to go. One strategically placed baby kick and you may be leaking pee as well. The joys of pregnancy. I love your updates, so exciting.

    I have an iliostomy bag and could only have one child. And my sister has a colostomy bag and could only have one child also but I can't say it's like that for everyone. We both had early pregnancies too. Mine was 7 months and hers was 8 months and they grew up to be very healthy kids. Thank God 🥰

    I can't believe I'm sharing this, but with my 4th baby, constipation became a serious issue. I let it go too long, too embarrassed to tell the doctor. I got so backed up and impacted, not only was I screaming, crying in horrific pain, but between the baby and that, my bladder got blocked off the last day. I couldn't urinate, then the baby would move, and my bladder would let loose uncontrollably. I ended up rushed to the hospital, needing a disimpaction procedure with an epidural. I was just shy of 33 weeks along. They didn't want to deliver then, but they had everyone, including NICU, in the room in case they had to immediately deliver during the procedure. The pain was excruciating, and I have never been so embarrassed in all of my life. I'm still traumatized lol. 😰😭

    I was unable to have children but watching your progression reminds me of my best friend's first pregnancy. I knew the test results before his daddy did. She allowed me to feel his butterfly kicks before anyone else did. She told me not to cry when I held him for the first time, but she just cried with me.
    All I know about breastfeeding is that it hurts. My sister-in-law's beasts looked like they'd been mangled. Other people have easier times but they've all admitted it was uncomfortable.
    I have lupus and a long list of other autoimmune issues and I stumbled across your channel. While I hope I never have your problem (I am 60, after all), it's interesting to hear all the different stories and struggles we've been through!

    Be very glad you are seeing different docs in the practice during pregnancy. When I had my first baby almost 52 years ago, I saw only one doc because he was an old family friend. Well, guess what? The day of delivery, MY doc was out of town taking his daughter to college for the first time. A total stranger delivered my baby. Pretty disconcerting for a 23-year-old having her first child!! Must have been to remember all these years later! Love your videos. Ostomate for two years….

    I don't know what kind of hospital bag packer you are but I find myself to be extremely minimalist. I use everything in the hospital has to offer honestly lol. For a vaginal birth, all the hospitals I've been to have a peri bottle for you to use.
    I don't think with either of my c-section scars they sent me home with gauze and tape over it but definitely use the Frida strips if you want.
    You might also feel different about a belt if you end up having a section. I know a lot of moms love them but I never did and never wore one but for a short period of time just to make sure I didn't like it still😂

    I packed my hospital bag at 23 weeks, you cant be too prepared, its one less job to do later on where everything gets harder and lethargy really kicks in! You can always add to it! Id definitely recommend writing a list of everything youve packed, firstly so you know when its delivery day what you have and secondly, to avoid unpacking everything to check you’ve remembered to pack everything!

    Hi Maggie, you may already know this from your other surgeries but maybe not…if you end up with a c-section ask them to use the glue and not the staples. It’s a little less pain with the glue which will stay on for weeks, rather than having big old staples on the outside. Someone told me this and I was so glad I did it. Just so you know you have an option! You’re doing amazing, I’m loving all the updates. Oh and my baby was breech and he flipped at 37 weeks, and he was 9.4 at birth, you never know!

    Hi Maggie! So fun to see these updates and I'm very excited for you and Zach. ❤ I've commented a few times but I haven't heard if you've considered a labor doula and/or a lactation doula. Highly recommend both, it's awesome to have the extra advocacy and support.❤ Also, when will you get a tour of the maternity ward at the hospital? They'll usually have a variety of labor aids like exercise balls to sit on, maybe even a birth tub option. I didn't use one or use a shower to help, but I know they are options a lot of laboring moms use. The birth classes youll be taking will go over so much great info to help with the process and you'll be taking them in no time with the way time is zipping by. 😊❤

    If you’d like to breastfeed the best advice I can give you is to talk with an IBCLC. Not just a lactation consultant but an IBCLC. Breastfeeding should not hurt. It likely will at first but there are reasons for it and they can be fixed. Mothers shouldn’t need supplements and whatnot to have a good supply. There are reasons for low supply and it’s rarely a hormonal reason.
    Wishing you the best and have loved seeing your journey❤

    One thing you might want to look into is some more of the Frida Mom products. They have a whole kit that you can buy that has the peri bottle, ice pads, cooling spray, breast pads for leaks, under garments and some other stuff I can’t remember off hand. Target and Walmart both sell it. It’s usually around $100 where I live. But it saves a lot of money and time in getting those things instead of getting them individually.

    I love my spectra. And optional version to go off the wire is great. Make sure to get flanges that are a bit larger and smaller, that is especially important the first time around. And pure lanolin to slather on liberally, even if your nipples feel ok. Dont skimp on that and they will thank you. Good luck!

    Hi Maggie, I was tiny when I got pregnant; not quite as tiny as you, :) 118 lbs, and I wore a 32A bra! About half way through my pregnancy, I had gone into C cups, and started breast leaking! For me, it was a good sign, that I would make a lot of milk, and it was! I seriously, grew to a 34D, and if I didn't wear a bra after my son was born, the milk came out in streams! I made quite a bit of milk, and never had to worry about it! And for years after stopping, I still produced drops of milk! Some women do that, which I wish I would of known at the time! Anyway, I also wanted to tell you to get some lanolin, and use it on your nipples every day, and tug and squeeze on them, to toughen them up! Make sure the lanolin option is safe for baby as well, because you will probably want to use it after the baby is born! It saves a LOT of soreness!

    Maggie, leaking is totally normal. You can actually start expressing as early as 36 weeks pregnant but be sure to clear it with your doctor first because it can cause your body to start producing oxytocin and induce labor. If your doctor clears it you can express and store the colostrum in a sterile container in the freezer, just date it so you use the oldest date first. The more colostrum the baby can ingest in the beginning the better!

    One thing I wish I had done better with (hearing about your "leakage"), is to "rough up the girls" before baby arrives. They told us to rub a towel on the "brown part" (Don't know what words you tube will allow), so that when you start breastfeeding they will be ready and they won't be so sensitive. I feed my son for almost 2 years, best choice I ever made. The first 8 weeks or so are the hardest, but just get Zach to support and encourage and ask for help from a LC whenever you need it. Then it becomes super easy. You'll enjoy being able to go out the door whenever you want and not have to worry about packing food to come with you.

    Hi from Australia, Maggie there is one bit of advice for breast feeding. As soon as you give birth my daughter latched he baby on to her breast. She has 6 children oldest 20, youngest 4 months. She feeds her baby's for 18 months to 24 months. She has never had issues. She believes in demand feeding, every hour at time, sometimes 2 hours there is no rules, if baby is acting fussy and not settling after they have had a healthy burp. She just puts them on the breast. Her children are so chubby and healthy, gives them a good start to life. After they are weaned. They shoot up and loose all the baby fat from mommy's breast milk. Pls pls never give up or think you haven't got enough milk, you must drink plenty of water. Make sure you have a water bottle beside you, every time you feed have a big drink. Take care xxx

    I would definitely suggest getting a portable fan you can clip to ur bed and nipple cream for ur hospital bag. Put things in individual bags that are label so it's easy for other people to find stuff in ur bag.

    A suggestion for breastfeeding is to cut a pantyliner in half and place each half inside your bra cup to catch any leaks. The adhesive sticks great to the cup and no embarrassing leaks. Congratulations 🎉

      I was going to mention the same thing. I was so poor when I had my first baby. Couldn't afford the ones they make for the bras. The panty liners work just fine and so much cheaper.

    Have doctors ever suggested you get surgery (now would be after the pregnancy) to 'push together', or revise, your stomach scar?

    • @LetsTalkIBD
      @LetsTalkIBD  11 днів тому +1

      When I first had the ostomy surgery and we thought I'd have it reversed, we planned on fixing the scar. It looks this way because it split open and had to heal from the inside out. Reversal never happened and I've actually had the scar evaluated by a pelvic floor therapist who was surprised at the abdominal muscle's strength. Right now I have no plans unless pregnancy impacts it. I'm more worried it wouldn't heal right again and make it worse!

    Hi 💛 fellow Crohnie & proctocolectomy gal here! May I ask if you had struggles with fertility in your pregnancy journey? I was told it may be harder for us to conceive, I’ve dreamed of being able to get pregnant for years! Sorry if this is too invasive, thank you for sharing this with us!

    • @LetsTalkIBD
      @LetsTalkIBD  12 днів тому

      Hi there! Ive actually shared quite a bit on my channel about this! We tried for 3 and a half years with no luck, finally went to a fertility doctor and last February I had an IUI. This resulted in an ectopic pregnancy and I lost my fallopian tube. Then in August right before starting IVF we found out I was pregnant naturally! It's been a Rollercoaster ride! Proctectomy surgery has been known to make it more difficult to get pregnant - some people are fine, others not. There isn't a ton of research on it unfortunately!

    The hospital gave me a jar of ticks after my last vaginal delivery they were so soothing. After cleaning the stitches Ithe nurse showed me how to lay the tucks along my sanity pad and the helped with pain down there. So along with my peri bottle the warm water and then the cool soothing of ticks it felt so nice and to me they smell nice so I felt like I smelled clean lol. I don't know if they still give these out after birth or not but that's what soothed my pain without taking pain meds all the time. I did take pain meds for a couple days after because of sever cramps and pain down there. It will be ok really. The nurses on that floor know what they are doing and have great suggestions, if it's like my hospital was set up. Good luck with that little bundle, you'll be a great mommy. Just remember babies crys will tell you what they want
    Mine had a different cry for a clean diaper or needed a little food or she was just bored. Yes they really cry because they are bored. A change of rooms, putting her in her swing or just holding her talking to her makes a world of difference. You will love looking into her eyes talking to her. I still think they understand us lol. Anyway good luck.

    It’s not too early to pack a hospital bag or at least start packing it. You can go ahead and pack the baby’s bag. The 3rd day is always the worst after baby and that’s around time for the ride home. Waffle pillow sounds like a great idea.

    One bit of advice…be flexible. Breast feeding may or may not work, some of the purchases may or may not work, rest is important, your comfort is important, do what you want. I can tell you want everything perfect, it might be it it probably will be wonderful but not perfect.

    Buy a pumping bra, I forgot and had to wait for two days to get them delivered! It was a long two days of holding the pumps.
    You can also buy a pumping/nursing bra they are just more expensive for a good one.
