@@nimaakhtarkhavari8766 hahaha, stop calling him that much, I can't talk to him, the line is always occupied, now I know that is because he's on the phone with you. Hahaha
I love Dave's early tones. Lots of definition and midrange. Makes sense though that when they started to get more technical and fast that he started to only use neck pickup and scoop the shit out of his midrange.
That's what's great about this album - thrash and jazz! Not just speed but groove - it makes it so much more fun than for example Reign in Blood, where it's just monotonously fast
God damn it, I wish I heard these bass tracks before, instead of looking at tabs and trying to find them out by ear when the bass is buried between the drums and guitars.
i cnt belive i used to think ellefsonw as "average at best" after hearing the bass tracks were i can hear the bass clearly i have come top the conclusion that he is fucking savage!
I think so, it's so funny cuz I'm always overly conscious about my little bass slip ups on record (a missed note, or a little buzz striking too hard, etc), but none of the other band members (or engineer) will notice them in the mix. Hearing this definitely makes me feel a little less bad about those slip ups that only I notice.
haha what you just said was awesome yeah you cant even tell in the mix it all sounds great also at the end of black friday when the guitars are goin real fast he only plays every 2nd 3rd or 4th note i forget but in the mix it sounds like hes going that same speed as the guitars it also proves hes human at the end of every show he could know that his right forearm would be a little less sore then if he followed the guitars :)
@jekbotol: Well, even Dave Mustaine has now admitted that Junior is ''THE Megadeth bassist'', so the man himself now is humbling himself to admit to that fact! Im so glad Junior is back in Megadeth, he was an integral part of their classic sound, and I'm really look forward to seeing him live with them, and hearing new albums with him back where he belongs: On the bass for Megadeth! :D
@AngelicStorm1 What's your excuse for thinking you can't play bass with a pick? That's like saying "she's pretty good for a girl" You are either good or you're not, your technique has nothing to do with that
i ment plucking actually offcourse he's picking them but you can't hear the artificial sound of the pick hitting the strings so he picking pretty slighly to get that thick sound.
@KirkKABOOM Indeed. I would know. I'm the owner of that bass and am the reason it's in the HoF. Feast your eyes: megadeth.com(forward slash)popups(forward slash)bcrich.html Those of you who have seen it will know that this is the bass that appeared in the "Peace Sells" music video and, for those less metally-inclined friends of yours, was used to record the theme music to MTV News. You're welcome. :D
@AngelicStorm1 um, for one he did, and sence he is back now soo... haha. and well how would you feel if you got sued by your best friend? granted i understand why he sued but still getting sued sucks
by the way, the end of black friday is fast but it isnt THAT fast. i dont know a whole lot about ellefson but i know he plays with a pick and considering that, i think he could have played along with the guitars at that point. he is pretty fast. sometimes it just sounds better to play it the way he did.
i think cliff and ellefson are the best bassists of the 80s and may cliff RIP fuck that bus driver, and thanks to that metallica sold out with the black album
@lavoizen obviously he's not a better guitarist.....he's not a guitarist. I'd like to see mustaine try playing the same things he plays on guitar, but on bass, takes more skill.
Darius Ptrk sadly after listening to Cliffs isolated tracks ...... I agree that David destroys him and badly . Cliffs time is let early and his dynamics are everywhere . His attack is not precise and his tone is go awful. Ellefson on countdown is so solid that it really just raised the bar
@@33cattt49 Yes. I really agree with you. I prefer David but I think better Cliff than him anyway. How he show is performance and technical. But Cliff tone are awful too.
I’m no bass player, but I think Cliff is just a tad better, at least in doing bass leads, cuz Ellefson is a beastly rhythmic player. He is fast, tight and extremely precise (perhaps due to the fact that he uses a pick) while Cliff is kinda sloppy (although this is by no means bad).
its interesting that cliff burton plays along with the guitars in other songs that are just as fast or faster (disposable heroes comes to mind) meaning that it wouldnt be impossible. i can play right along with the guitars in battery, and cliff was far better than me.
Jr studied Jazz, Cliff’s theoretical abilities came from classical music. Also, Dave plays with a pick while Cliff did it with his fingers. So yeah, completely different styles
I'm a guitarist, but I usually write the entire arrangements of my songs. When I'm writing bass lines, I think "what would Ellefson do here?".
Gabriel Martins Interesting
Imma bass player, but I do the same
I usually call him to ask...
@@nimaakhtarkhavari8766 hahaha, stop calling him that much, I can't talk to him, the line is always occupied, now I know that is because he's on the phone with you. Hahaha
the pentatonic scale on bass fits so well in metal
That riff for the verses....is insane!
Ellefson is the best pick bassist in the world!!!
YEEES
tacatatutummm tacatatutummm
Ellefson is just amazing. My god.
But not mentioned as much as he deserves, when comparing metal bassists or things like that.
Truly one of Ellefson's best bass tracks
Something AI would never ever replace. I love the tiny imperfections and details on the bass lines
my left hand cramps up just thinking about the verse.
it cramps really well when playing as well and to play that clean... the ascending lick at the end of the intro is another cramper.
And my right starts to sweat.
Dave Ellefson on speed
He already was during the recording
He is better know.
I love Dave's early tones. Lots of definition and midrange. Makes sense though that when they started to get more technical and fast that he started to only use neck pickup and scoop the shit out of his midrange.
1:23 Groove!
That's what's great about this album - thrash and jazz! Not just speed but groove - it makes it so much more fun than for example Reign in Blood, where it's just monotonously fast
This bassline has to be the greatest ever. I totally love this song!
God damn it, I wish I heard these bass tracks before, instead of looking at tabs and trying to find them out by ear when the bass is buried between the drums and guitars.
ellefson gives pick users a proud name
This is so well played, love the sound he got on this album its so unique.
i cnt belive i used to think ellefsonw as "average at best"
after hearing the bass tracks were i can hear the bass clearly i have come top the conclusion that he is fucking savage!
ah hell yeah just learned the intro and damn it feels good
This is just insane.
I always wondered how ellefson got so good good if he would practice on songs like van halens "running with the devil"
one of the greatest basslines on one of the best songs ever written (imo), check out ZodiakIronFist's cover, its fucking enbelieveable.
RIP ZIF
0:50 a little slip up?

i'm playing this with my fingers :D

Tbf when they used to play Black Friday live, ellefson would go the exact same speed as the guitars with the 16th notes, same with the conjuring
These bass tracks are really cool. I would like to hear some on youtube from more obscure metal bands though.
i'm glad that David is back in Deth :)
@@cmoud5855 Yep it sucks, but that's what happens when you do some old man pervy shit. Not a good look. Mustaine's ego aside.

This aged well
@hunt12887 Yea he did. Only time i remember him not using a pick was with Killing Is My Business tracks.
@AngelicStorm1 i think he finally realized as jr is back in the band, the next album is gonna be great
Fucking epic this bass line
Ellefson definitivamente es de los mejores bajistas de la historia. Es una pena que no se le reconozca tanto
@AngelicStorm1
What's your excuse for thinking you can't play bass with a pick? That's like saying "she's pretty good for a girl" You are either good or you're not, your technique has nothing to do with that
@BleedingMindsoffic yea mustaine used to play a bc rich with metallica and in the beggining with megadeth
@Sliza2 im pretty sure he used a jackson the only reason he has a bc rich mockingbird is because mustaine used to play one in the old day
@MegaLDeth Dave Mustaine did write the bass intro to Peace Sells.
this is one kick ass bass line
yes true, i also noticed that.. just proves ellefson is awesome, but also human.
@Sliza2 pretty sure it was a B.C Rich Mockingbird
@BaSs4cE11 yeah, thats the one thats in the RnR Hall of Fame atm
@AngelicStorm1 well if dave never said it before, he surely believes it now that ellefson is back.

Ellefson found the people that disliked this and then after that he made it show that no one dislikes the video.
@AngelicStorm1 um, for one he did, and sence he is back now soo... haha. and well how would you feel if you got sued by your best friend? granted i understand why he sued but still getting sued sucks
ya he is the best that Megadeth's ever had.
I agree!
@BaSs4cE11 close,it was a B.C. rich ironbird.
although he did also use the mockingbird. i have every bc rich bass except the ironbird unfortunately:/
i have a b.c. rich ironbird but that should be a cheap one (France and bought new by whom i bought it from)

@joaquinrodriguez #5 is underrated
Cool!
Ellefson is such an underrated bassist.
@AngelicStorm1 Guess who's back!
yeah along with poland and gar (RIP)
underrated my balls he is like number 5 in the bassist rank
1st. Bar none.
Where? Cliff is seventh and he is the only metal bassist in the top10 from Rolling Stone.
@@tatianawilliams I'm pretty sure they ranked Entwistle or McCartney first ?
That's more of a popularity contest than an actual ability ranking.
Kiddo I don't remember who is the first actually.
he's number 2 in my list
haha yeh, many bassists dont follow guitar, just because it would be imposssible to keep in time, cliff burton in battery comes to mind...
true he makes it sound like hes picking them notes.
@AngelicStorm1 He's back now ^^
@AngelicStorm1 HE'S BACK!!!!!!
he is,hes pretty technical but you don't hear much from him these days.
@AngelicStorm1 Jr. is back in now.
lol you faintly hear the guitar solo, jr. must have turned volume pretty high
i agree with that ;)
@BaSs4cE11 Correct! (Y)
yeah man cliff burton really follows the drums in most cases unless its triplets cus there much easier
@MrGabbo97 Always.
@Sliza2 a mocking bird and an ironbird
i think cliff and ellefson are the best bassists of the 80s and may cliff RIP
fuck that bus driver, and thanks to that metallica sold out with the black album
@MrGabbo97 David use a pick to play
yes
i have no clue how jr probably played this with no effort at all.
he didn't always used a pick
@hunt12887 david used a pick for every song ....
XD he made a little mistake at 00:51... but at this time i would have made thousand errors
Well the song and the melody but the bass is ellefsons
all i know is that it was a bc rich mockingbird bass
Didn't Dave (Mustaine) wrote this ?
GanjaPharmzor yes david wrote this himself lol

in my opinion ellefsons more talented, so no way its mustaine, lol ;)
i think cliff is more skilled, he started playing at the age of 12 and played often because his brother died, but we all have ouro wn opinions
Who the fuck is cliff Burton? Lol
Vastly different styles, Cliff and Dave.

alex dickinson former bassist for metallica but he died
this NEEDS a drum track . the bass alone doesent show the awesomeness of the rythm of the song.
i think ellefson is much more technically skilled but cliff was just somethin when he soloed
Out of tune...
