Suzi, I think you're bloody amazing. Aging is dreadful, you've lost your friend, you're on your own, having to move home, something going on in Portugal and you've been sick and yet you still get up, put on your face and think about us. Truly admirable.
    Love your beautiful hair.
One day at a time, small bites. Well done you.

Suzi have a think about it
      Regarding your hair
My hair is grey but I still have a bit of colour for now I keep saying to my hairdresser I am thinking of not colouring my hair anymore
She said you could leave it for awhile if you change your mind
      Colour it again
Luckily the colour blinds in with the grey meaning no roots lol 😮
People do admire my hair colouring

Aaw yes l too have noticed you being not quite Suzi. It's only natural that you are feeling low after loosing dear Jack. I was glad to hear you say you may walk other peoples dogs, that will deffinately lift your spirit when you are ready. We all get a bit fed up with our hair from time to time, not really an age thing. Your hair always looks great, and l love how you wear a scarf. Praps a new haircut or a few low lights, they dont need attention. I think of having a few at the front of my hair which is gleaming white 😂 but my daughter said "dont end up like Mrs Slocombe"😂 Take care Suzi love and hugs......Alioban ❤

I’m 74 …always been fit and well , always flamboyant and always loving fashion . I have always had Lidl money but Harrods taste 🤣🤣. I have spent my life in charity and vintage shops …looking fab and being admired . Suddenly 70 comes a knocking ( I’m 74 ) my knees suddenly hurt and I get tired quicker …I hate it !!! I’ve had white hair since my cruel divorce at 58 when it transformed …I loved it at 58 through my 60’s but after 70 …I suddenly feel invisible and old . I’ve just been to London and on my way home from Camden ( paradise ) .the taxi driver came to help me out …plus a lady ( not young herself ) called me MAMMY ….. and if any more young people say ….” Oh , bless “ to me …I will scream . I have become a BLESSIT !!!! I’ve thought of doing my hair the vivid red I had previously but I’m afraid of looking like a geriatric Bo Peep 👵🏻. Plus I can’t face the root touching and the red grouting in my bathroom . I have decided to be graceful and accept it ….Im not Immortal …I just thought I was …….. Feck it

I was 76 in February. I had ginger wavy hair and used to get the Micky taken out of me because I was different. I loved it when I left school. I still get my hair dyed ginger and straighten it. There’s no way, while I can use my ghd’s, that I’ll go grey. Most of the people I go out with have short grey hair but I don’t want to be the same. I’ve now got a permanent stoma, keratosis on my legs, that’s a skin change but not infectious, probably because I’ve got ginger hair and a pale skin. I need my knee replacing but I’m expecting to be on the waiting list for a long time. We are told all about the menopause now but getting older well no one told me about that? what to expect. I used to walk miles 18 months ago before my stoma but you know the surgeon saved my life so I accepted it. Got divorced and moved from London to Worthing 8 years ago ( and just a 700 bus ride from Brighton )oh and I retired. I knew one person in Worthing then she moved further out (I hope it wasn’t me ) I’m living by the sea now which is good for the soul . Haven’t got much money, only my flat but I have the greatest of friends, the best children and grandchildren in the world. I always say I’d rather be lonely and single than lonely and married. Though a man is handy when you want jobs doing etc. you are allowed to be ‘off’ some days just get it out of your system and get out again. You have an amazing life but just take it a bit slower, and give yourself time to grieve over Jack. Please. As for hair - well it’s not short and grey 😊and it’s lovely the way it is and only you can decide about yr hair. Age is just a number remember you have lots to look forward to. Take care Suz xxx

Thank you for your honesty in this vlog. At 71 I suddenly have a painful knee and need a stick to walk; suddenly I am old! Two months ago I was striding through rainforest trails in Costa Rica feeling rather youthful then bam…. I agree that reaching 70 is a real milestone. As for your hair, it isn’t grey, it is a beautiful silver and your hairstyle is modern. I think those European ladies were just looking on with envy. As so many have said, you are an inspiration. Losing Jack has been awful. We think we are psyched up to the fact that we will lose our dear pets before long but the missing of them hits you like a ton of bricks. Sending much love.

I think your grey hair is fabulous. Dyed hair can look hard against older faces. Stop worrying about being invisible. At our age it's much more important to SEE than be seen, its active rather than passive. Besides, I always thought invisibility was a super power!!!

Actually, I totally agree with you! I'm having a good look at people who have dyed hair over 60 and I do think many of them don't look younger at all! It seems to accentuate the wrinkles when it's a very artificial colour. The blondes look good but then I was never blond. I won't be dyeing mine that's for sure. Just adding some darker interest, hope the colourist agrees! I have photos to show him! x

I LOVE your videos, especially this one. I'm in my early 60s and I transitioned to grey during the pandemic and never want to go back. But I also feel invisible at times because of it. I plan to keep my hair in a younger style to help counteract that stupid public perception a bit. Thank you for showing that you're NOT always happy. Most of us who are single living alone feel a sense of loneliness at times but we don't talk about it. It's nice to feel some community with others who live the same lifestyle. You are WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL. Please never leave UA-cam. I look forward to your videos every week!

I'm coming out of it slowly! Thank you. x

Hi Susie, I don't usually comment (I'm a quiet watcher . . . always give a thumbs up though) I'm shy. I'm 72 and know exactly what you mean about being over 70 and invisible. I also think about my mortality and every ache and pain I believe is something that is going to kill me 😂 As the feeling you have been having resonated with me so much I just had to tell you that I think most of us feel the same at over 70. But, what I try to remember is that getting old is better than the alternative . . . not getting old (death). You are fabulous no matter how old you are. Take care and I hope you feel more up (maybe when we get some actual sunshine.) TFS 👍💖 P.S. A lot of companies put the colour on the bottom of the tube, I don't know, you may have already checked the bottom, but if you haven't it might be on there.

If I'm invisible there is no one to see and judge me, if they think I'm old and want to give me a seat good I have bad knees and am glad for a seat. I'm 78, and still coloring mine. I do it myself, so it's easier for me. I look pale and washed out with white, so I really look better with color. Kind of butterscotch blond. When I get roots it looks natural. A cashier told me recently that she would have put me in my 50s, so I feel it doesn't look odd yet. I have been coloring since 36. I was salt and pepper then.

Surprisingly, I get lots of compliments 🤷🏼‍♀️ I still love my funky boho clothes. I really don't worry about being invisible but I do think a lot about being in the later years of my life. It’s so refreshing to hear because a lot of content creators project a completely unrealistic perfect life. You are an inspiration; it’s really tough living alone and having just lost Jack you are still grieving and feeling low so try not to be too hard on yourself. I completely understand, I moved twice in two years following the death of my parents and retirement. I am still trying to find a new sense of “home” in this new situation. As you mentioned it’s an unsettling time of life but the people in Faro were probably jealous of how wonderful and authentic you looked! Dear Suzi, Firstly I must say you look fantastic and are an inspiration to us all. I understand the feeling of being invisible, I was in Next on day and asked an assistant where something was and she look straight through me, I was in tears when I caught back up with my daughter, (I'm 66). Also I have been through the feeling of realising our own mortality, I gave myself a good talking to and told myself to live every day to the full and enjoy it. Finally the Grey hair, as you I have been feeling a bit fed up with it but don't want to go down the colouring route, I have decided to have purple highlights through it (I have done a purple fringe) and always got complimented on it. So all in all we ALL go through the same feelings, and the loss of Jack has hit you more than you may realise, when your moved and settled get a pet, they are such lovely company. Lastly I admire the fact you go travelling on your own something I could never do. You are a lovely lady and I look forward to your vlogs every week. Keep up the good work. xxxx

Yes, I do agree. There's no way I'm going down the dyeing road again. I'll just add some interest that will probably affect me more psychologically than physically! A new hair do always helps if you're low! Thank you for your lovely words. x

I love the grey - do not change it! Colouring your hair is toxic and plus it really suits you x In Australia it is slowly becoming more common for women not to colour their greys - hello from Melbourne x I have been single for 10 years now and, like you, love my own company. I find it does get harder each year - you start to feel very vulnerable.

Every decade seems to have its milestones. I'm turning 70 in July and consider myself quite fit, healthy and thankful to be a 39 year cancer survivor. I'm a pandemic grey haired convert; cold turkey and kept my hair long during the process. I would never go back to coloring but I know you occasionally have some funky color added. Go for it if you think it will make you feel better and it won't be annoying to grow or wash out. I think you look fantastic and love your use of vintage with more modern fashion.
Jack was one of those special dogs and I understand the void. Maybe you can adopt a senior dog; they are so appreciative and loving.

Yes I agree, I won't be doing anything to my hair that requires constant attention! And thank you for reminding me that health is more important than anything else. I will get an older dog one day, that's the one thing I realise, all those people with dogs yesterday on Bank Holiday Sunday just left Mary and me stopping all the time to pet them we love them so much so I'll definitely look after any I can before I move. I've already offered 2 sets of neighbours!!! Thank you. x

I lost my dog after 17 years as well.. it’s been 3 years and feels like yesterday. I moved to a small cottage and love it!
I use the IT CC.. what color do you use? I’m thinking mine is too light!
Thanks for all you share. Really enjoyable.
    Edit:
I’m 77.. when did THAT HAPPEN?? I’ve always taken care of myself..retired at 74, after 25 years in cosmetics. I adored it but don’t miss the grind. Thank goodness I still feel good and am so very very grateful for that. I insist on my face makeup being done and my short white hair has to be styled every day-even if I’m just hanging around the house.-it’s who I see and recognize! I don’t feel invisible out in public yet… but I’m afraid that day is coming. Getting old is not for sissies. It is WORK trying to stay healthy and safe!

Hi lovely, thank you for sharing, it always makes me feel better sharing out loss. Every single night when it’s dark I really miss him. Wow retired at 74 that sounds like me! Almost there with my new life. And what a great career you had. I agree on the make up, unless I really am not going anywhere but the beach, light make up all the way. You’ll find me far more visible on this weeks vlog!!! And the IT cosmetics foundation is also a bit too pale for me, they have thousands on-line so worth doing another check as you’re the expert! I have very olive skin so don’t go by me. But like every single thing I buy lately, there is NO colour on the tube! I think they must put them all on boxes and I need to make a note without throwing them in the recycling with such gusto! x

I really like your grey hair, at least it is a bit of a funky style and not a 'wash and set'. That place you visited in Portugal in the middle of nature looked gorgeous. I turned 60 this year and I suddenly feel old and for the first time in the 5 years since I retired am bored and feel I’ve no purpose. I’m sure that will change once we get some brighter weather. Maybe Portugal just isn’t your place? You’re always so trendy and I love the clothes that you wear. As a permanent wig wearer (I do different styles and colours!) I definitely notice the greys are more ageing. Not that I don't like grey (matched to the right outfit) but I definitely think there's a point in our age at which it becomes harder to make it appear glam and not just old! Many in the wig community suggest we up our makeup when wearing greys (ie a bit more blusher, brighter lippy etc). I 100% get the most compliments when wearing my pale blonde shoulder length slightly wavy style with layers shaping my face. It takes years off but is just not practical for every day. I was a natural blonde in my youth so I think that's part of it. I'm most comfortable in a transitional blonde and light grey blend which is exactly the colour of my bio hair (what's left of it!). In my opinion what we definitely need to avoid is going too dark as we get older - that can be really ageing.

My hair is dark/mid natural brunette and is long, I have tiny silver strands in it so its definitely going to be true salt and pepper within 18 months and you know what, I don't care. I dress how I have always dressed, this is me and stuff what anyone else says. Wear your lippy, your fantastic clothes and if you need a change just have some low lights to break your grey up, or have some flashes of colour, blue always looks nice as a statement!! I think you are fantastic!

I'm not a happy bunny either,my health is better than it has been for some years ( except the sweating I've now seen my gp and waiting on blood test results) butmothers wise well. But with me it's where I live, I really miss living in Lewes, and it's top of my list to move back down there as soon as I can, as I have all my family and old friends in Lewes and surrounding area,so as you say its important to be close to them as we get older. I like your hair colour ,and it's such a pain to keep doing ones roots, I'm 61 in June and still have blonde hair, with dark roots, with a little grey, and I do a couple of times a year just lighten my hair all over, but I'm beginning to not worry to much, and maybe as your thinking something a bit more fun for the summer, and why not. White is really food on you,as well by the way. Keep well and here's to the new chapter thatsmabout to unfold in the near future. ❤
