FILM SYNOPSIS♡
Blue macaws Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), Jewel (Anne Hathaway) and their three children are comfortably settled in the city -- perhaps too comfortably. Jewel fears that the children are becoming more like humans than birds. After learning that she and Blu may not be the last blue macaws, Jewel decides their little family should visit the Amazon jungle. There, Blu meets his formidable father-in-law (Andy Garcia) and goes beak-to-beak with archnemesis Nigel (Jemaine Clement).

Maybe you don't know it, but there's a deleted scene where Blue tells Pearl "I always thought I was the one for you, but I guess it was your only choice." Heck, if the writers had left that scene, the movie wouldn't have been so hated😢😢

Hated? How so? This movie was one of many great films by Blue Sky Studios when it was at its prime 10 years ago. Perhaps they could’ve done some changes, but it’s perfect the way it is. That’s my opinion for it anyway.

My biggest glaring issue with this movie, is the whole “happy wife, happy life” mantra… it gives off this vibe that women are just annoying/difficult unless they’re being doted on. Like it’s not wrong to want to dote on your spouse, but treating it as if it’s some task you have to do or else everything goes to crap is a harmful stereotype that I was honestly surprised to see in a newer movie.
My other issue was Jewel’s attitude. Yes, I absolutely understand that her whole family is there and that she’d want to stay. But it should have been properly discussed and she should have taken Blue’s feelings into consideration. Just because Linda isn’t a bird, doesn’t mean she’s not Blue’s family? So Jewel guilting him into staying would be the same as him trying to guilt her into leaving. It honestly felt a little out of character for her, at this point in their relationship, for her to be so rude to him.
My favorite part about this movie is the visuals and the soundtrack. The music is amazing! The Beautiful Creatures” scene is my favorite.
I have to agree on that one. The main problem was that Jewel and Blu come from two completely different worlds, despite being the same species. She was born and raised in the wild while he was taken from his home and been raised by humans at a very young age. Like Blu said, he tried so hard to not only impress her father, but also adapting to the jungle life by getting to know their customs and beliefs. She though that, by bringing him here with the children, would help him to rediscover to what it means to be a blue Spix’s macaw but to him, that idea is entirely alien altogether since he’s so used to being around with people and their materialistic point of view. I would be upset with her but he already knew that their kids are the future for their kind and as such, they must be preserved and be out there in the skies where they belong. When he saw the devastation that the humans are responsible for, Blu truly understood of why he was taught to despise them in every way and that this is far bigger than himself. At the end of the day, he chose to be with his family and the rest of his people because they are what nature intended them to be. This also serves us as a lesson that marriage is the greatest challenge in the long run, but as long as both parties have a mutual respect and understanding for one another, their love will never die.
Agreed. And this is another glaring issue with the first movie. Which is the fact that Blu and Jewel just don’t seem right for each other, if they keep hammering it in that they are simply through the fact that they’re the only two that can save the species. But other than that, the creators really don’t sell the chemistry of these two, not even the actors.
@osmanyousif7849 I personally think they do have chemistry. I love them as a couple over all. I just didnt like how some things were handled in this movie.
I agree! That's why I removed the movie parts about the mantra from my video; it felt so odd and unnecessary.
@RukiyaReacts I noticed they were missing! I was glad honestly. I was curious, when I saw you were doing rio 2, how you'd react. And when they weren't included I was like "I wonder if this was intentional because those lines were bull crap!" Haha. Good call.
I actually like when a villain doesn’t look too villainous because it could be a message that people who look “normal” aren’t always innocent
Oml, I remembered hating Jewel in this movie for calling Blu selfish when he's been so selfless the whole time 😭 The fact that Jewel also never put any boundaries with Beto gave me such an ick.

Gabi was FOR SURE my favorite character, both her and Nigel are absolutely perfect for each other. Every song that included them just carried the movie.
To be honest, I think most can agree that the movie should’ve been about those two.

I really loved this movie it was genuinely a good sequel, to this day the song and dance sequence will forever remain iconic in my mind.
Reason why Rukiya is my fav reactor: 1: she’s beautiful. 2: she actually “reacts” unlike others who barely have comments. 3: shes very funny❤❤ Rukiya if you see this please watch Slumberland! It’s day 6 of me asking!!

Fun Fact: Roberto is voiced by the one and only Bruno Mars. I love this movie. Nigel and his goons are hilarious in this, I love how chaotic it gets, and the musical numbers are on par with, if not better than those in the original.

The red Mackaws are probably Scarlett Mackaws.
The animal that the poisonous dart frog was riding at 29:45 is an antheater
It's important to know that Spix macaws(which is what Blue, Jewel and their children are) are not found or native to Amazon rainforest. They are from the region of Caatinga in the north east of Brazil.

Obviously, considering how this is a musical, they need to cast Broadway stars and singers.
Although I still don’t understand why would they have Bebel Gilberto (Eva), sing pretty badly.
