I am a dark skinned black woman. I use Cotz sensitive spf40 mineral sunscreen. It has 20% zinc oxide and is broad spectrum. I recommend it to all black women.
Thank you so much. Finding a sunscreen that does not leave me with a harsh cast has been rough. Finally tried the neutrogena hydro boost water gel lotion and loved it but now I know it’s not as great as I thought due to the harmful fragrances and perfumes via Dr. Dray so I’ve been searching for other options.
Oh Dr. Dray...I think WE'RE super grateful for you taking time in educating us!! Thank you!!! Love that you actually showed us how much cast they leave! Gives us a general idea😊👍🏼

yeah, how did they even let that out of the factory?? it really impacts the typically positive experience i have with that brand overall. i saw 50 and the trusted cerave name so i bought it - but you literally can't spread it over your body. i brought it to a volunteer work day where we patched concrete and it never faded on anyone after 4 hours - you could see the streaks of white (on pale white office workers doing good on a saturday out in the community) on all of us. truly awful. i was thinking of donating it to beach lifeguards in the summer in case they like that australian in the 1980s with zinc stripes on the nose look :)
Please review the brand IT Cosmetics. I use their CC cream and havent experienced any irritation. However, it is full of citrus extracts. It has an SPF of 50 though. Please do a review of all the skincare as well as the cc cream. They advertise to older women and women with sensitive skin and I really want your opinion. The brand is said to be developed with dermatologists and plastic surgeons. I love your videos!
Found out today I have skin cancer......I'm using good sunscreen (thanks to listening to your videos). I'm also going to get UV protection clothes for the summer 😘😘😘. Love your teaching videos, your making a difference in educating us ladies. 😁😁😁
Hi! I started this video in hopes that I could send it to my friends who don’t wear sunscreen. While these are wonderful sunscreens (I have 3) I am not convincing a newbie to wear any of these. I would love an updated video on tinted mineral sunscreens. That may just convince them! My 12 year old daughter is now wearing sunscreen everyday thanks to your recommendation for the SkinAqua (gold bottle) it is amazing!! I even pulled a bottle out of my purse and gave a friend a sample yesterday at brunch. Her father died from skin cancer and my mother has had it twice. Also, you never loose my attention in your videos! Thank you! #bigfan
Thank you for another great informative and unbiased vlog review of products. I personally use the Neutrogena product and although it is thick I quite like it. I have a light olive skin tone and I find the white cast disappears in time as I keep patting it on with my finger tips over my entire face, neck, chest and ears. Then I work it on my other exposed body parts. The waterproof formula is what enticed me to try it. I sweat easily, always have (I'm in my 60s now) and other brands I've tried would melt down into my eyes and cause irritation. Neutrogena doesn't do that to me. When my face sweats it stays in place and the moisture rolls down the side of my face and wells up under my eyes. I blot with a wash cloth (makeup-free most of the time) and reapply sunscreen when I am able. It's a pain but I wish I knew about using sunscreen instead of sun tanning lotion when I was younger and hanging out on beaches. Dr Dray, I hope you read my comment because I want to ask you about how to address melasma caused by a bad facial honey wax job. It looks like melasma on my cheeks and the sides of my mouth. I've done IPL twice and it looks much better for a while then comes back. I suspect the damage is more than the first one or two layers of skin but I'm hesitant to try something that won't provide a more permanent solution. Can you please do a vlog on melasma caused by honey wax burns or other bad salon treatment burns and the best course of treatment? Thanks!
Clara Sherman Can you get the Hada Labo UV White in the tub? It’s a chemical sunscreen, I believe. It doesn’t have a cast. It’s also Dr. Dray recommended. ☺️
Thank you Dr. Dray! I have been waiting for this video. I really appreciate you doing this video on mineral sunscreen with higher SPF. I cannot use chemical sunscreens, I have tried over and over but it makes me itchy and burns. I also prefer the mineral sunscreen for my daughter. Thank you for giving your time to provide us with such detailed information. Have a great day.🌻
cari567 I can’t say it’s the most matte sunscreen. I find that it leaves a bit of shiny-ness. But I have found that to be the case of all the physical sunscreens that I’ve tried, unfortunately
Highly recommended Paula’s choice super light anti wrinkle sunscreen, lightly tinted, gel like formula, not shiny or too dry, super blendable, no white case, great under makeup. Best mineral sunscreen ever!
Thank you Dr.Dray for this video, it was very informative! For those of you in Europe, where La Roche-Posay mineral sunscreen is bizarrely not an option, I recommend you to try the Avène all mineral tinted/untinted spf 50.
I just ordered this: EltaMD UV Physical Tinted Facial Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 41, Water-Resistant, Oil-free, Dermatologist-Recommended Mineral-Based Zinc Oxide Formula, 3.0 oz I’ve been looking for a good mineral sunscreen that is tinted. This one is amazing. I am loving it so much so far. My skin is very sensitive with rosacea and cystic acne at times and this sunscreen has been beyond what I’ve been looking for. I love it so much. I know somewhere along the way you’ve recommended this, so once again Dr. Dray. thank you very much!!!!
I tried the CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen and had the same disastrous results! The DRMTLGY active sunscreen is my holy grail! Doesn’t pill under foundation with minimal cast.
S P - does the DRMTLGY sunscreen have any fragrance, smell? I don't want to smell my face sunscreen all day. I'm on Amazon reading about it and it sounds fantastic!
I just came back from Target before I saw this video and I was about to get that cerave sunscreen, thank god I didn’t! I ended up getting the Aveeno protect+hydrate spf 50 and there’s no cast (esp for my ppl with darker skin) and no pilling!
Oh, Dr. Dray, I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you for all this information! I live in Brazil, and it's so hard to find good and affordable sunscreens here (especially mineral only). I've bought the Pigeon UV Baby Milk Waterproof, but haven't received it yet. It is mineral only, no fragrance, no oils, water resistant and it has ceramides on it. It seems promising!!!
Dr. Dray, I advocate your sun protection/skin health improvement videos. I also love your natural face that shows care and confidence. Everybody is beautiful and care enhance it.
8:07 is a mood 🤣 Not on this review, but I recently tried out CoTZ Sensitive SPF 40 non-tinted. I’m southeast asian with a medium skin tone and I was so surprised that it left NO WHITE CAST on my skin. It’s super moisturizing too without fragrance! I also tried out CoTZ Flawless Complexion SPF 50 tinted and was happy that it did not have a “cakey” appearance. I tried out other mineral tinted sunscreens, but they looked cakey on me up close. Main point: I’m so obsessed w/ the CoTZ brand.
I’m so obsessed with the Cotz brand as well! The Sensitive one and the Flawless Complexion one are just Excellent. Like you said, no white cast, no cakey, moisturizing. And both 20% zinc is a plus in my opinion.
I also use this combo - untinted Cotz Sensitive then tinted Flawless Complexion. There's zero cast with both and no color transfer with the tinted for me. Feels good on my combo skin too. For reference, I'm a medium with yellow/olive undertones, and the Eltamd UV Physical was too pale/pink for me.
I needed this video! I’ve been waiting to switch to a mineral sunscreen and now that I’m almost out of my chemical sunscreen, I can do that! Despite the pros of chemical sunscreens, they’ve been linked to environmental concerns and I’d really rather not be contributing to that.
Colleen Harding i have rosacea as well. They either burn and sting or i get those awful bumps. Have you found one you like yet? Im about to give up trying anymore sunscreens. Im having mohs surgery in 2 days for a basel cell cancer on my nose, second one. I need to wear sunscreen , got a drawer full of rejects. Thanks ,hope you reply
Thank you Dr.Dray for sharing your knowledge and educating us on protecting our skin! I was very lazy with sunscreen but after watching your channel I am extremely diligent now using EltaMD UV 😊
Running on the treadmill watching this and laughed out load at the Cerave shot! I wasn’t expecting that and certainly won’t be buying it. Thanks for the heads up. I like the Cerave AM along with Elta MD tinted sunscreen (finding them both through you)!
Love this video, and really appreciate all the information I learned. I have rosacea, and have never been able to tolerate chemical sunscreens; I swear by mineral... I very much enjoy Korean and Japanese brands -would love to see a video dedicated to K and J beauty options. Thank you!!! (I use: Australian Gold, tinted and fragrance free; Etude House - Sunprise Airy Finish SPF50+ PA+++)
loving your channel! I've been battling acne my whole life, and taking your advice on adapalene has been working for me, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge :)
>sun bum< tinted mineral sunscreen ❕ i have type 4 skin on the fitzpatrick scale and this doesn’t make me look orange, feels like silk, and uses non-nano ingredients (reef-safe). it does not irritate my sensitive skin and is great for layering. dr dray recommended a sun bum mineral lip balm in a tube and now i am a loyal sun bum customer after having tried so many casty mineral sunscreens
I had the same experience with that Cerave! I had to cleanse twice to get it out of my eyebrows 😂 it's the consistency of toothpaste. I'm going to check out that MD Solar, thanks for the review.
Hello Dr. Andrea! Maybe it’s because I care more about the wellbeing of my skin and live in Florida, I’m don’t care if a sunscreen has a cast because swimming and playing outside with my grandchildren calls for the water resistant sunscreen. On days I’m not active outside, I use EltaMD UV Clear Facial Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 for Sensitive or Acne-Prone Skin, Oil-free, Dermatologist-Recommended Mineral-Based Zinc Oxide Formula, 1. 7 oz. I copied it off my Amazon list of products I order. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with information on these sunscreens!💕
The CeraVe one is unbelievable 😭🤣 don’t they test these products beforehand? Imagine getting this terrifying result and thinking “Perfect. Let’s sell it as it is” 😭
i live in Canada and I use the all natural Live Clean mineral sunscreen 45 UVA uvb. I really recommend that brand in general! I buy the sunscreen at well.ca
I found the Live Clean Face mineral sunscreen spf 45 at my local Dollarama the other day for $4.00. Could not believe it! Thought I'd give it a try. Very thick formula and quite the cast but with makeup not too bad. What a find though!
This video has really helped me easily find the strong water resistant mineral sunscreen for me! You have no idea how useful your video was to me! Thank you alots! 💕💕💕💕💕
Omg Cerave - I had been pondering buying it but not now! Thank you. Really like Cerave AM as it’s moisturizing which I need now since starting RetinA. Struggle to find really good moisturizer sunscreen which is exclusively mineral.
@@teresa4645 the mineral one for faces with the tint isn't greasy - it's actually kind of drying. Granted I have super dry skin, but I still need heavy duty cream moisturizer to use it. Also, I'm a very pale, light blond haired Nordic looking person. It's not too dark and I can't see the color on my face.
@@susanholl5994 if you use the recommended quarter teaspoon it has a heavy foundation look. Very orange on my skin. It says feels very slimy And rubs off easily on my skin
These videos are so helpful! I'm going to buy the Neutrogena one tomorrow. I just started wearing sunscreen and I had a terrible allergic reaction to it. My whole face and neck are covered with tiny bumps that almost feel scaly, and itch like crazy. I can only use super gentle cleansers and lotions right now.
Great review! Oh my lovely Dr Dray you did make me laugh when you showed us the CeraVe mineral sunscreen 😂 how people are wearing this sunscreen with out trying to cover the Casper the ghost white cast. The La Roche Posay Ultra Light and MD Science are definitely on my list to try 👍 What are your thoughts on using a product something like Clinique Men's Bronzer. The below was taken from a reviewer using it. I have extremely sensitive skin with rosacea and eczema. I religiously apply a mineral sunscreen daily. To ward off the white cast that mineral sunscreen can induce, I mix a tiny amount of this bronzer with my sunscreen. The colour leans towards red but looks very natural. If you are very fair as I am, this is a great option to consider. This is not a self tanning product but more a bronzer for daily wear which can be mixed with sunscreens, moisturisers or used alone. Back to me. I think the bronzer is fragrance free and comes in a pretty large tube for its price but can’t be certain? Thanks for your review as always 🙏😎🐶
Oh My Stars!!!! Thank you so much for testing and trying out so many sunscreens. WOW! HOW did you wash your face so many times to remove them without irritating your skin? You are definitely a trooper for all of us. Thank you!
I have been using Australian Gold Botanical sunscreen for about 2 weeks now and no issues yet so I think it might be a winner for me! I also bought the Cotz tinted mineral sunscreen but I have not tried it yet maybe when my skin is more tan 🤔
The Cotz Sensitive spf 40 is untinted and doesn’t leave any white cast, so you might be happy with it. The Flawless complexion which is tinted spf 50 will suit you if you want the iron oxides. Can’t recommend these more.
Eau thermale Avene High protection complexion Spf 50+ Correcting shield, light has a bit of a cast but it also acts as a moisturizer. I am ok with that. I use Derma-E mineral powder as a setting powder to get rid of the shine.
I use the Elta MD sunscreen and never have the strong white cast that you had. It serves as my morning moisturizer as well as sunscreen. I just squeeze out a quarter teaspoon for my face and only put half on, blend it in well and then repeat with the rest. (I use more for neck, chest and back of my hands.) I then wait about 20 mins while it fades even more before applying foundation makeup and don't have any pilling or coverage problems.
Pat Mear I do, all the time! I’m hard pressed to wear anything else because I like it so much!😂 It dries matte, no whiteness & no shiny face...& I’m pretty fair and it’s not too dark for me.👌I love it! Edit to add: I actually use it as lite foundation with regular makeup a lot. I use a little concealer , bronzer & blush over it & set it all with a tiny bit of mineral powder. Looks very natural.
Thank you for all your amazing and informational videos about skin care. Especially mineral reef safe sunscreen information. I have went out and bought mineral sunscreen from your list for everyone in my family! Your influence is definitely felt and it making a difference.
The white caste is my biggest issue with the La Roche-Posay Anthelios spf 50. It also pills with other products so not all make-up goes on well over it. Elta MD Clear spf 46 is so far my fave, just wish it was a little more moisturizing on drier skin. Getting my: Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF50+ PA++++ and PURITO - Centella Green Level Safe Sun SPF50+ PA++++ tomorrow. Excited to try them. Dr. Dray, have you done any videos exclusively on Asian sunscreens?
Hi Dr Dray! I loved this review, with the demonstration of each sunscreen right after. Thank you! The spf that I’m using is Ducray Melascreen light cream, no fragrance, and kínd of dry touch (but not really). Have a great day!
Are you able to do a sunscreen review of some great Chemical Sunscreens. I'm very dark skinned and it's difficult to find any mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a horrid cast. What are the alternatives for darker skin tones? How do we keep our skin covered and safe from harmful light? If anyone else has any suggestions. Thank you for everything you do Dr. Dray, my skin has improved tremendously since following you. I really appreciate the no nonsense approach and the illumination of the insidious marketing in the beauty industry. So blessed💛🌟
The Klairs Soft Airy UV is pretty amazing! It's more of an invisible gel so it leaves absolutely no white cast (you literally feel like there's nothing on your skin once it dries down). It's not a cream vehicle so it's not a moisturizer in itself if you feel like your skin is very dry. It works well with the Elta MD UV Physical tinted spf on top of it too! I've gone through multiple tubes of Klairs and still haven't found a better sunscreen.
Baby Panther , you may want to try the Anthelios shaka fluid invisible ultra resistant. i use it myself every day and it has absolutely no cast, nor it is greasy. it is without fragrance. but as i live in europe, it maybe has another formulation where you live? sure it is worth a try.
Baby Panther The Japanese ones are very cosmetically elegant (clear gels, no oily shine)...I love the Nivea super water gel spf 50, for example. I live in Germany and have to order it from Japan (via Amazon), but so far, it has always arrived without issue and it’s only like 10 bucks for a decent sized bottle. I always order several...I tend to use a tinted mineral on my face, but they are my go to on the neck and décolletage and hands/wrists, because they won’t stain clothes or make me look shiny. Biore has a good one as well, I‘m pretty sure. They are fragrance free and offer good protection.
Baby Panther And yeah, the total lack of dark tinted sunscreens is a disgrace. What are they thinking? Would be a great opportunity, for someone with entrepreneurial spirit though. Get a kickstarter going...make a sunscreen line, specifically for darker skinned ladies...boom, you’re rich! I mean, it can‘t be that hard, can it?
Baby Panther, I use tinted mineral sunscreens and tolerate them well. Hard to find the right tint though. I like the Mychelle Natural Tan one quite a lot, but the tint is about the same as my skin (the undertone is a bit too yellow, but I manage). I wish there were more tinted ones out there, especially for very dark skin tones.
I can confirm that Clinique mineral face 30 leaves almost no whitecast. But unfortunately, it feels very dry to me and applying a second layer later in the day is almost impossible without flakes sticking on my face.
Excellent, thanks for the clarification so at least I know what I'm picking and what the categories are, and which ones I need to have when I want to scare my enemies away! Oh gosh darn I hope I don't have any enemies.
As you have mentioned, Europe may have better quimical choices, but fail in physical sunscreens. The funny thing is European companies launch different products depending on the country, even same label, different ingredients, go figure. What I don't understand is the fact that these sunscreens are not tinted, given the only problem they pose is the white cast. Is it that difficult to formulate tinted versions? For this reason, the only one I've repurchased and used up is the tinted mineral face sunscreen by Australian Gold, which is currentlly available in stores in Spain. It does contain minimal botanical extracts in the last part of the ingredients list. I bought the Cozt one on line, and made my rosacea broke out in a week, it's pure silicone, and I guess the excessive oclusiveness is the culprit.
Thanks for explaining the zinc percentages. I love Vanicream Sport which has a higher zinc % than Banana Boat Simply Protect Baby, but a lower SPf (35 for Vanicream) I personally love combo sunscreens and would love a video of your recommendations!
I recently tried the Equate dupe of Neutrogena's Zinc sunscreen and it's great!! The cast is not as strong and it's less shiny. It is a bit drying, so I wouldn't recommend it to dry skin unless used with a rich moisturizer underneath. It's also water resistant, and I think I got it for 5 dlls for a 3oz tube, so pretty affordable. I did use the Aveeno for a beach vacation... And actually sort of appreciate the white cast in this scenario because it gives me some sort of reassurance making sure I'm covering everyyy inch. Layering a tinted sunscreen helps a lot too.
These sunscreen specific videos of yours are always so informative and eye-opening! Thank you so much and please keep them coming ... your insights and perspective always help. I recently received a sample of CoTZ new face moisture lightly tinted spf 35 (16% zinc oxide) and I think I may be in love. It’s a primer like mineral spf that applies like a dream ... are there any problems/concerns with using such a silicone heavy vehicle?
Silicones are not a problem, they aren’t allergenic at all. You might want to try other CoTZ sunscreens as well. Their Sensitive spf40 has 20% zinc and no white cast with 40min water resistant, can’t beat that. And their flawless complexion spf50 also 20% zinc is tinted and good for all skin tones. These 2 give you more product for your buck compared to their face version in a tiny tube. I’ve been in love with this CoTZ brand as well as with Vanicream Sport spf35 (same look and feel as Cotz Sensitive).
I start with CeraVe AM and layer over that with Australian gold tinted. The Australian gold tinted really dries out my skin, the CeraVe AM helps moisturize my skin the best under Australian gold.
Finally! I was waiting for this. Dr. Dray I am currently using Avenue Eau thermal, Avene High protection completion SPF 50+ Correcting Shield, light. I mix it up with Elta MD UV physical SPF 41 facial sunscreen for extra protection.
Thanks for this video. Actually that big la roche posay mineral is my favorite sunscreen for my neck and arms for an everyday use💕loveeee that soft demi matte finish. Thanks for clarifying the percentage of zinc oxide cause i was reading an article that says you should avoid sunscreen with spf less than 15% zinc oxide which would only be about spf 24 or less (making them look as useless ) so i got confused with all the face sunscreens that i own because they only have 4-6% of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
Can you please review the Cotz line of sunscreen? I've heard that they have a very tolerable cast as far as mineral only sunscreens goes but I'm interested in your take on the formula, ingredients, and performance. tia
Thank you for clarifying why I need to reapply sunscreen, even mineral based ones! I'm vigilant about my sunscreen use (biossance mineral sunscreen) but wasn't sure if needed to reapply if mineral so THANK YOU!
I just like the fact it lightens my skin a bit what is annoying to me is when people are like “this has a white cast!” Mineral suncscreens are suppose to have cast!🤦🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️
Great rundown Dr. Dray! I appreciate the cut-ins! I always use a tinted mineral sunscreen. I like Elta MD UV Physical, UV Elements and Australian Gold Botanical. They are all extremely gentle and don’t have a greasy feel.
My brown also. Darker shade of brown lol. An the la Roche posey lotion actually works well for me. I dont put it too heavily tho. An I have oily acne prone an it works find
Crying at all the white cast the sunscreens leave it’s my nightmare 😭😭😭😭!!! Are there any sunscreens that are rosacea friendly but don’t leave any cast at all 😭
Will never get enough of your mineral sunscreen videos 🙌🏻! Brings me back 3 years ago when I first found you- what a journey 😍 you seriously need to go to CVS - purchase CVS HEALTH CLEAR ZINC COMBO SPF 50 (ZINC & OCTOCRYLENE)!! It is honestly the BEST sunscreen there is!!!! Have a beautiful day! ❤️
off topic but I have avoided alcohol since my skin is sensitive but a lot of matte SPF's contain it. I was also under the impression alcohol damaged elastin in the skin and contributed to aging. Is this true or false in your experience?
it does not damage elastin, unless you inject alcohol into the skin...it can be drying, but that is what people are sort of hoping to achieve when they seek a matte finish (no emollient shine)
I am actually using the banana boat mineral sunscreen spf 50 for kids I used in my face and blends very good on the skin and is wonderful and no cast that you can notice love it specially for the price🤗
I am a dark skinned black woman. I use Cotz sensitive spf40 mineral sunscreen. It has 20% zinc oxide and is broad spectrum. I recommend it to all black women.
it is a great one
Thank you! I'm tan and all mineral sunscreen leave a horrible cast on me, also chemical sunscreen burn my eyes.

Neutrogena Sensitive Skin SPF 60 is another great mineral sunscreen! Leaves less of a cast than the Sheer Zinc line 👍🏻
:)
Laura Jean I am prone to acne. But I’ve had good luck with that sunscreen! I don’t feel that it breaks me out or irritates my skin :)
I've been wanting to try that one. I have oily skin - do you find it has a shiny finish or more of a matte finish?
cari567 I can’t say it’s the most matte sunscreen.
Omg you had a Casper the friendly ghost moment with the cerave. Thanks for the review.
I was just going to order the Cerave Sunscreen!!! OMG, thank God i watched this video!!!
Thank you Dr.Dray for this video, it was very informative!
For those of you in Europe, where La Roche-Posay mineral sunscreen is bizarrely not an option, I recommend you to try the Avène all mineral tinted/untinted spf 50.
I just ordered this:
EltaMD UV Physical Tinted Facial Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 41, Water-Resistant, Oil-free, Dermatologist-Recommended Mineral-Based Zinc Oxide Formula, 3.0 oz
I’ve been looking for a good mineral sunscreen that is tinted.
Hey Kelly! It’s fragrance free! Doesn’t smell like anything 👍
I was just talking to my friend today about what is a good sunscreen to wear on the face! This is perfect timing!!
I just came back from Target before I saw this video and I was about to get that cerave sunscreen, thank god I didn’t! I ended up getting the Aveeno protect+hydrate spf 50 and there’s no cast (esp for my ppl with darker skin) and no pilling!
Is it chemical or physical?
Katie Bell that one is chemical
Oh Dr.Dray you made my day with Cerave face. I watched many times already but still laugh so hard.
Dr. Dray, I advocate your sun protection/skin health improvement videos. I also love your natural face that shows care and confidence. Everybody is beautiful and care enhance it.
thanks!
8:07 is a mood 🤣
Not on this review, but I recently tried out CoTZ Sensitive SPF 40 non-tinted.
Main point: I’m so obsessed w/ the CoTZ brand.
cotz is great
I’m so obsessed with the Cotz brand as well!
Thank you! I can only use mineral ones on my cranky rosacea skin, so this is a very useful video
thanks for watching!
Dr dray you saved my skin big time thankyou sooooo much for helping me analyze these gimmicky serums ,essences ,toners
Thank you Dr.Dray for sharing your knowledge and educating us on protecting our skin! I was very lazy with sunscreen but after watching your channel I am extremely diligent now using EltaMD UV 😊
Great video. I’m in love with MD solar science! One of the only sunscreens without octinoxate ( burnsmy eyes!)
Omg you summoned flashback Mary with that Cera ve sunscreen
Running on the treadmill watching this and laughed out load at the Cerave shot! I wasn’t expecting that and certainly won’t be buying it. Thanks for the heads up. I like the Cerave AM along with Elta MD tinted sunscreen (finding them both through you)!
I would definitely watch longer videos! They never feel too long. Thanks for the reviews.
thanks for watching
I hope you’ll do a sunscreen review on chemical sunscreens! This was great. Thanks for also including video on what it looked like on your skin.
Love this video, and really appreciate all the information I learned. I have rosacea, and have never been able to tolerate chemical sunscreens; I swear by mineral... I very much enjoy Korean and Japanese brands -would love to see a video dedicated to K and J beauty options. Thank you!!! (I use: Australian Gold, tinted and fragrance free; Etude House - Sunprise Airy Finish SPF50+ PA+++)
we are grateful for you dr dray , i always watch ur videos no matter the length of the video
you are the oracle of skincare in this platform
8:09 i didn't think that i would be dying of laughter during a dr. dray video but it happened
Anthony Yan 😆She makes me laugh all the time!
💕It is nice to see everyone’s comments to her informative videos.
Hahahahha Casper. ☺️
Oh my god I’m dying lol
What were they thinking when they formulated it? Loool 😂
God looooord, that was hilarious 😂
Omg! I am in love with your videos! I feel like you are answering all the questions I have had about skin all my life!!!
loving your channel! I've been battling acne my whole life, and taking your advice on adapalene has been working for me, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge :)
>sun bum< tinted mineral sunscreen ❕
i have type 4 skin on the fitzpatrick scale and this doesn’t make me look orange, feels like silk, and uses non-nano ingredients (reef-safe). it does not irritate my sensitive skin and is great for layering.
dr dray recommended a sun bum mineral lip balm in a tube and now i am a loyal sun bum customer after having tried so many casty mineral sunscreens
I had the same experience with that Cerave! I had to cleanse twice to get it out of my eyebrows 😂 it's the consistency of toothpaste. I'm going to check out that MD Solar, thanks for the review.
let me know how you like it
Hello Dr.
Let’s sell it as it is” 😭
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for your videos and knowledge!!! Please talk about mineral sunscreens for people that are darker.
i live in Canada and I use the all natural Live Clean mineral sunscreen 45 UVA uvb.
My favorite sunscreens are chemical + physical. They tend to be high spf and leave minimal or manageable casts.
Omg Cerave - I had been pondering buying it but not now! Thank you. Really like Cerave AM as it’s moisturizing which I need now since starting RetinA. Struggle to find really good moisturizer sunscreen which is exclusively mineral.
Thank you for this video! Would you consider reviewing glossier’s sunscreen?
I’ve been using the Josie Maran SPF 47 for years and love the tinted choice as it’s easier to blend away a cast.
ive been using the australian gold tinted face spf 50. i like it a lot so far.
I hate that one. Too greasy and dark for me. Too little zinc oxide in it as well for UVA
I have been using Australian Gold for over a year. It works well under make up too.
I use it on a daily basis. I do hate the way my face feels with it, but it is the best i can find.
The La Roche Posay Ultra Light and MD Science are definitely on my list to try 👍
What are your thoughts on using a product something like Clinique Men's Bronzer.
Thanks for your review as always 🙏😎🐶
cerave's new formula is really clumpy
Oh My Stars!!!! Thank you so much for testing and trying out so many sunscreens. WOW! HOW did you wash your face so many times to remove them without irritating your skin? You are definitely a trooper for all of us. Thank you!
I agree! It was very helpful to see the actual cast. Thank you dr. Dray!
i did not wash my face...each application shot is done on a different day...i have been working on this video for awhile, lol
You look freaking adorable with a ponytail 😍
thanks
Another fantastic video educating us all. You are so amazing Dr. Dray! I sure appreciate your knowledge and fun, informative videos. All the best!
Yasmuheen J. Ooooh...sounds good. Cotz tinted may be the next sunscreen I try. 👍
The CeraVe tinted is pretty good. Much better than the plain.
Agreed, invisible on me, and very comfortable.
I put on an SPF 15 mineral sunscreen over my chemical SPF 50 since my skin is pretty dry rn. I hate the white cast lol.👻
She's made a point that you're supposed to layer on sunscreen. Not just a tiny bit.
Pat Mear Same. I layer CeraVe AM, then the regular CeraVe, then EltaMD tinted. No problems.
@@tarantulady8565 I'm going to try the Elta MD tinted next. Can I use it as foundation on a no makeup day?
Pat Mear I do, all the time! I’m hard pressed to wear anything else because I like it so much!😂 It dries matte, no whiteness & no shiny face...& I’m pretty fair and it’s not too dark for me.👌I love it! Edit to add: I actually use it as lite foundation with regular makeup a lot. I use a little concealer , bronzer & blush over it & set it all with a tiny bit of mineral powder. Looks very natural.
You go above and beyond on our behalf! Please know how much you are appreciated!
Yes, more sunscreen reviews! Thank you, and have a great day!

@@jackiemarsh2470 Hi cupcake, it's ☀️ today. I'm loving it 😀 Hope you are having an exciting day 💜
lilies009 Thank you Sweetie!! I'm having a Fabulous Day!! I'm glad you are too!! Love from Cupcake!!
Happy Tuesday!
Baby Panther
The Japanese ones are very cosmetically elegant (clear gels, no oily shine)...I love the Nivea super water gel spf 50, for example.
Baby Panther
And yeah, the total lack of dark tinted sunscreens is a disgrace.
I plan to buy Cerave one but luckily, I stumbled upon ur videos. Thank Dr Dray
OMG, you look like the Joker with that Cerave sunscreen. 😱 agree with you that it’s a no go.
Thank you so much for the detail explanation, Specially the importance of usage for Rosacea and Melasma.
I use Cotz Sensitive Skin spf 40. I’ve heard that Clinique mineral face spf 50 has very little cast though.
The "cast ranking system" XD Thank you for reviewing sunscreens for us - always very helpful information :)
Thanks ! Glad to hear it was helpful
This was so helpful. I had been looking at all of these sunscreens, and this review of all of them came up!
Hi Dr. Dray, could you review Oasis Sun SPF 50+ Ultra Protection Sunscreen?
Thanks for another great educational video ! I am so fair that i actualy LIKE the sunscreen with a cast, lol. They are like makeup for me 😊
Lol yes
I just like the fact it lightens my skin a bit what is annoying to me is when people are like “this has a white cast!” Mineral suncscreens are suppose to have cast!🤦🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️
highlights :)
Great rundown Dr. Dray! I appreciate the cut-ins! I always use a tinted mineral sunscreen. I like Elta MD UV Physical, UV Elements and Australian Gold Botanical. They are all extremely gentle and don’t have a greasy feel.
Omg........ i am brown skin. Cant imagine what these would look on me. 💀
My brown also. Darker shade of brown lol. An the la Roche posey lotion actually works well for me. I dont put it too heavily tho. An I have oily acne prone an it works find
This filming distance is perfect!
Dr Dray thank you!
I am actually using the banana boat mineral sunscreen spf 50 for kids I used in my face and blends very good on the skin and is wonderful and no cast that you can notice love it specially for the price🤗
