Having rode this I can certainly say that this is a very unique sort of machine. I hope it is made available en masse as soon as possible.

I got my Indie in May. Here are my observations.
Negatives -
Headlamp has absolutely 0 use, highbeam goes up in the air somewhere.
TVS XL has a better side stand.
No paperwork maintained at one of their newest dealerships, didn't provide a slip acknowledging the receipt of the vehicle for service.
Warning issue pops up and the vehicle stalled a few times, could be dangerous if there is speeding vehicles behind you.
When the vehicle is used in Rush mode 2-3 times when under 10% battery charge the range upon next charge decreased, it now currently stands at 105, started at 110 in May.
Positives -
No fancy dash, pure plain and simple.
Rugged and well built, takes in all the craters with ease that the municipality in Bengaluru has failed to repair.
Not bad at all for a 1st iteration of the product.
With Yamaha having come on board things should surely improve.

Very Compressive and objective review. Just wanna add, while Eco mode on Ather is not very useful on most circumstance as you rightly pointed out, but the "Smart Eco" on Ather is more useful than most other modes on all scooters on most circumstances...especially if you are an efficient rider, because in those cases the "Smart Eco" will give you more oomph than even its Ride modes. It basically dynamically adjusts the power delivery based on your riding style to give you the predicted range with certainty. so if you ride efficiently and it estimates that you will achieve the predicted range for sure, it frees up more power for you. I like River Indie for its unique and ground up design in India. It deserves more attention and success than Amperes, Joys, Pures and other cheap chinese knock offs as it should be in the same league as Ather, Ola, TVS, Bajaj and Hero....
Sarge, You made a mistake. We do can ride in Any mode in Ather 450 even the battery is till 0% . You just have to opt for Smart Eco in the Settings and You can ride in Warp mode till you get to Zero Percent.
If Smart Eco is not selected, then the system will choose Eco mode when gone below 15% or so...😊😊

I can see EV shooters being the future. With someone like me who loves big Cc retro bikes, the second two wheeler in the garage being an EV scooter is great, for going to the market or city. I hope you get the required funding and expand all over india.

2 month river indie owner from Hyderabad here, have been an owner of TVS iQube as well. I simply love the ride quality. Is it too much to ask for good quality switches on the panels, the charging cover is flimsy, the seat when up feels flimsy (not that it's good quality, but just the way the hinge holds the seat when you open it makes it feel flimsy). Regen is pretty strong, especially when combined with braking in peak traffic - stop you where you are. Reading from the comments, some one mentioned Yamaha has come onboard so the servicing should feel more streamlined. All said its definitely a head turner, wherever I go people look at this with awe and curiosity and boy you should experience the rush mode on this thing. On the accessories from I have a mobile holder and the tinted visor both add to look and utilitarian aspect of the vehicle. Happy with the bike, would have been elated if the switches and fittings would have been more solid. I forgot to mention the rear view mirrors, they are really small especially when you're in peak traffic.
Bring river indie in the Nepal soon...

It will take time for the River to reach the whole of India maybe after that they will sell them to other countries, hopefully you can buy them when they open their stores in Delhi or states neighbouring Nepal...
Don't drag geopolitics on the moto enthusiast channel.. if they closed business there biggest market should also bear loss..!!

The indicators could have been better designed or placed - for me it looks aftermarket - as if they initially forgot and then they remembered to fit it !
After nearly a year of use and 11,500 kilometers, I must say that the riding feel, comfort, road grip, and boot space are all very satisfactory. However, I've encountered warning issues several times, though the River team has resolved them within two days by replacing the key unit three times and the switch unit once. The headlight output is quite low, and considering the ample space in the front, a projector unit could have been included.

When I test-drove it, I felt the power delivery was not linear. I picked a different test vehicle, and it was the same. It does offer more practicality, but they need to improve the quality of fit and finish, as well as the power delivery.

Yeah, it's a curve in eco mode. Feels very awkward at the start but you get used it. From what I know is they wanted eco to be mild and have more of an ice scooter feel. Works really well in stop and go traffic.
I have ather and surely it allows to go to different modes even with less than 20% battery

I feel the regen, navigation & fast charge is a miss, as far as being marketed as a utilitarian scooter is concerned. I dont think the touchscreen & button quality being a miss is a big deal though. They have to keep the costs at a price to cater to the mass market also yk. Considering the state i live in (Odisha), i do hope this company grows in the future so that this comes here.

It is one of the best made and practical scooters. How I wish they had an ic engine version , I would buy it . I hope they tie up with someone like tvs and give it an ic version. This would be ideal for long rides.

Hi Sagar, any info on when next version of the indie rolls out? I took a test ride recently and liked the design, ride and the minimalistic console (less software features, less chance of glitches). However I wish they sort out few of the niggles existing in the current version.
I think it is still some time away because they are still establishing their dealership and service network

I think they are targeting the TVS XL super market, I hope you know what I mean ! Therefore a interactive HMI is not a hard requirement.

I would argue that Ather and OLA are atleast transparent in telling you that the performance has changed or the mode has changed.

Kinda, one of the co-founders of River worked as designer in Honda in the past, and was responsible for the Navi's design back then

I have completed booking amt 2.5K but now kept on hold as no fast charging availability in vehicle that is the only sad 😢 point, Rest all the boxes have been ticked.

@@SagarSheldekarOfficial I drove near Vega Mall ( JP nagar Bangalore) yesterday with 2 ppl around 7pm with ride mode.
Suddenly the vehicle showed a warning message and speed was dropped to 5 km immediately.
Many ppl were shouting to move the vehicle fast to cross traffic signals. But I'm not able to move the vehicle... Luckily we escaped from an accident from backside vehicles.
It is really frustrating. How can we fix these issues?? God knows 😢
@@sreenid5517I had faced the same issue and the right switch unit was replaced. Switch units are not completely waterproof I believe.. Most EV vehicles do not come with physical acceleration wire rather will be sensors and accumulation of moisture sends false message to the processor to stop the vehicle.
How does this compare with ather ?

Also I'm hoping they come up with new vehicles which would be lean as ather and olas.
EV penetration in North is not so good, I hope it gets better soon.

Mr, Sagar I have been riding this ev fro past 6 months,
1. The front suspension is too hard, the back it too soft with a pillion rider its scratching the road and humps.
2. The head lights is a waste, visibility is too bad in dark roads and rainy conditions.
3. Long turning radius, feel ackward while you take a U turn.
4, Vehicle is too heavy.
5. The on road price is close to Rs, 1.5 lac without accessories.
6. No smart features on such expensive vehicle.
7, The perfomance and range of the vehicle has dropped after the first service.
8. The company is still struggling to provice some important accessories, and also too expensive,
Hope you have bumped up the preload when riding with a pillion
