Manual is the way to go! I’m sure pdk is awesome but short shifting on the manual version is enjoyable with the added torque down low compare to previous generations. I passed on the $10k markup on the GT4 but have zero regrets on my GTS.
Took delivery of my Cayman GTS 3 months ago with PDK and 20mm drop. Fantastic. Previous car was a 991.2 GTS. Great car but not worth an extra 50% over the Cayman.
I could be wrong here, but I think that a standard GTS OEM spec is lowered by 20mm, so somewhat counter intuitively the 'lowered by 10mm' is actually an option that is meant to be specced by people who need a higher ride than usual (and probably why it looks quite high in this vid).
I actually wanted the convertible and thought about the Spyder, but the Boxster GTS 4.0 is the same car without the funky roof and down 20 HP - only because it's down 200 RPM at the top which is hard to use anyway. Add a tune (after it gets out of warranty) and actually have more power than a stock Spyder with a roof that goes up and down with a button. My loaded BGTS 4.0 is arriving on Tuesday.
Love the GTS, think I’d choose it over a GT4 as I’d use it 90% road 10% track, and turning up to a client in a GTS is passable. Great vid thank you! Maybe try a manual GTS?
I can understand why a person who tracks the car often would prefer the PDK, but I would prefer the manual because I like to drive on back roads and the manual adds to the engagement of that type of driving. Neither transmission is 'better' it just comes down to the buyer's preferences.
amazing car. beautiful. so u chose a higher PASM....with GTS standard ride height is 20mm lower....u opted for 10mm optional for no ectra price....actually.. GTS came with sportier one.....that was missed by u
Re the wheel arch gap totally agree. Actually the PASM with a 10mm drop is a no cost option. As standard it comes with PASM 20 mm drop. I’ve ordered one and made the same mistake!
How do you find it compared with the GT4? I’ve been offered a nearly new shark blue GT4 by my dealer so have a tricky decision. Wait until July + next year but get my perfect spec GTS or go now for a used GT4. My only concern with the GT4 option is lower ride height and scraping the splitter/underside. Have you found this to be an issue ?
GT4 is a very special car, but it is much firmer than the GTS so if it was your only car that may be a factor! The GTS is an excellent road car! Didn’t scrape with the GT4 no
What a nice looking car but £85k is insane for a Cayman. Can't believe how much the prices of most new cars have gone up in recent years, chips shortage and inflation don't help either. Personally, for £85k i'd get a 2014 991 GT3, or 2015 991 911 Turbo with over 500hp for just £81k (less than 30k miles) on used market. A lot more car for less money, but not less fun. Or I'd just get a McLaren 570S 2016 for the same money.
You can always do crazy things with a Porsche option list - the base price is £69k and there isn't a good reason to spec one of these higher than £75k at absolute maximum. £85k is just lunacy. The alternatives you list aren't very comparisons imo, they're a different class of car. All way more expensive to keep on the road in terms of tax, consumables, and maintenance, plus too much performance to really enjoy on the road (GTS 4.0 already flirts with that line, 991 Turbo absolutely nukes it).
@@MacellaioNero Agree on every point about performance. Just can't use a reasonably late model 911 turbo on U.S. streets. GTS is really too much already. "It's more fun to drive a slow car sorta fast than to drive a fast car sorta slow" (and that's all you can do without going to jail).
Great video! Thanks. Did you get to test drive it before ordering by any chance ? I was told they’re super rare and it’d be really hard for them to get me a test car
GT4 or GTS? I got to test drive the GTS before ordering as they had a demonstrator - I didn’t get to drive a GT4 before ordering as they didn’t have one
Do you have any issues regarding rattling and cracking noise from the back most likely coming from them trim of the rear trunk? I got a my 4.0 in September and dealing with some annoying sounds.
hello great car Q1: this car has the exhaust filter? if yes, sounds great even with that damper Q2: what is average fuel consumption playing like this ?
You don't have to. You can leave it in automatic, let it do it's thing. In that mode you can force a change and it'll hold it for a while before taking back over. Or, you can put it in manual mode and fully control it yourself.
The vid does noting for the sound. When I start mine up, I am, as stated in the vid - addicted to the sound. I have a hard time turning off right away in my garage or when I park because I always want to just hear it a bit more. Also, just listening to it at lights is a great soundtrack of itself. I have Bose upgrade in mine and always turning the music down to listen to the engine and exhaust!

great camera work and video quality and also well spoken presenter!
Nice review Gem, thanks for posting 👍🏻
This might be better than an entry 911!

I have driven a manual GTS, was incredible! Just spend most the of the time in second gear haha

how long are wait times on these?
I have the -20mm PASM on my 718 T and had the -10mm on my previous 718. the -20mm PASM and PTV is def. the way to go.

To be fair Jon the ride height is not too bad on the GT4 you know. Yes you do get the odd scrape but it’s not too bad 👍🏻
@@antscars thanks, maybe being a little to precious 🥹

Lovely video!
Beautiful car, especially in that colour, would prefer pdk myself, love that supra as well, one of my favourite cars
Thanks for the continued support Jamie!

Lovely car. I’m still waiting for a build slot. Deposit in May🙄 I’m planning PTS Manual and CS wheels🎉😊
Thanks to the crazy tax on cars in Norway this cost new 115.000€ :(
Great video! Thanks.

Thanks! They didn’t have a gts to test drive where I enquired.
I’m thinking of getting the boxster gts 4.0 !
dont you miss that turbo punch though! bet it dont feel rapid like your rs3 did
You’ll see a new addition to the garage next week which fills the RS3 void in my life 👀

Sorry to hear that! I didn’t experience any of those sounds while driving it for the day no
Love the colour
You are very rare girl on blue shark!!! Like the english mafia!💪
hello
great car
Q1: this car has the exhaust filter?
if yes, sounds great even with that damper
Q2: what is average fuel consumption playing like this ?
Q1: yes it does. Q2: I was averaging 18mpg during this video with fast driving, confident you could get more with ‘normal’ driving

hmm that is not so good fuel consumption
@@cayman9815 All depends on what you compare it to. Drive a Hellcat and that would be awesome mileage.
Can you get a sunroof as an option on this?
Sadly not!
Hi! Pasm -10mm handling is good?
Handling felt great!

Personally prefer the 2.5 with after market exhaust. Way torquier IMO.
Spoiler has to be down. Onlly posers have it out. Why rear wiper?
An absolute joke of a review
