Keep up the great work - you have inspired me throughout the COVID period and since I started watching your videos, have purchased my own DA polisher, know the best pads for the job, have learnt the best methods for cleaning a car and have gathered heaps of tricks of the trade along the way too. That was great to watch Sandro defo loving the new format 😄, You are right too much hype of the hardness of coatings doing the rounds . Well that’s a year past May since nv evo was applied to the wife’s Toyota and there is no dropped off in beading and sheeting and gloss . and to think it’s only a single layer coating is impressive , no gimmicks and no wild claims with nv evo just does what it says on the bottle 😁👍🏻.

That one layer of CQUK 3.0 is insane durable.
Lite, Gliss, and CQUK 3.0 is a great set up for a shop that wants to offer an entry level coating in Lite, and something more substantial in UK3.0. Gliss allows a nice topper with an upcharge on either coating.

Wow Sandro. Great minds think alike. 6 months ago I applied Opticoat to my near new daily driver after having CarPro CQuarts UK 3.0 on it for 6 months from new. After applying 2 coats of CQuartz and a coat of Gliss I was stunned at the gloss, hydrophobricity and slickness. Yes a little more expensive by adding gliss, but well worth it. The problem is keeping it dry for 24 hours after the last coat goes on as I don’t have a garage that fits my car. Too much detailing equipment my wife says 😂😂😂😎. At Christmas time, I applied 2 coats of Opticoat after strip washing and compounding the Cquartz off. After an hour I then applied 1 spritz of Opti-seal to each panel and spread it out with a pearl weave microfibre cloth. After 6 months of each on.a daily driver left outside my conclusion is that for my clients, CQuartz has better gloss, hydrophobricity and slickness with the only drawback being to keep it dry for 24 hours compared to once hour for Opticoat. Great work once more and keep the relevant comparisons coming.

This is one of the very few online comparisons that clearly and comprehensibly explain what is a fact! Very good content and, as always, great photos and comments! An almost moral nutritional value ... Thank you very much! Achso ... also coincides with my experience with the Cquartz ... you have to be a little more careful with the handling, but gloss and durability in this price range are hard to top. And it is also versatile ...

Well done, but sometimes I wish you would wait a little longer after spraying the jet of water so I can end up seeing the final result of how dry the panel is. It actually seemed like Gloss Coat sheeted better, and in some cases, ended up being dryer after the stream of water.

My Sunday morning serenity! Thank you Sandro for the excellent content and your transparency! Unfortunately it seems like US detailing products are 4-5x the cost in Australia than in the us. Gloss coat is $50 to $60 in the states and cqaurtz is actually $80-$100 depending where you buy it. Gloss coat is also known to be the easiest application product so virtually errors should not be made when applying. Iv watched a ton of older videos as well and prices are definitely a lot higher. I guess my Aussie friends just don't get a break 🥺. As always your the king and we do appreciate you !

Many years ago, Optimum sold Opti-Coat 2.0 which was very closely related to their professional product. Not the best water properties, but it could last for years on plastic bumpers, and was pretty much permanent on hard panels. My first experience with gloss coat was not impressive at all. It didn't last any longer than a good sealer and didn't resist bug\water\birdshit etchings any better either. My current car wears Cquartz UK3, and it's still going strong at two years now.

10 and 20ml would make sense if you had their foam applicator. Suede takes more product to load IMO. It’s also made in the USA in house at Optimum and quality is monitored by the owner and chemist. With CQUK who knows, but I do agree that it performed far better. GC has been my base level coating offering for years now. I can offer it at a really affordable price due to ease and speed of application.

My only thoughts on this test using Multi-X is that it's potentially unfair on GlossCoat due to Multi-X being a CarPro product. It's quite possible that Multi-X is part of the testing regime for CQ-UK and therefore it has been designed to withstand it.

I have Glosscoat on my daily driver, only coating I've used, and I love it. I use mostly all optimum products for maintenence as well. I hear that Carpro requires a rejuvenating SiO2 spray every few months where as gloss cost does not, due to its carbide hybrid features. Also after a year with glosscoat, water beading has not been compromised at all. I rarely need a degreaser to clean up, and when I do, it's diluted and doesn't affect water behavior. Have also used water spot remover (MDR) and gloss cost is still intact and beading just fine. I feel that in real world applications, glosscost isn't much of a sacrifice at all.. what do you all think?

    1) How do you prep the window for ceramic coating?
    2) Can you ceramic coat a Chevy sign? Silverado sign? Lt sign? What about the brake lights and plastic door handles? If so, then how?
    3) Do you ceramic coat the rubber around the windows? If so, how do you prep it?
    4) Do you ceramic coat vinyl wrap? What about stickers that advertise businesses or ZR1 stickers?

      That’s a lot of questions!
If you watch some of my longer full detailing blogs I cover most of those questions in detail. But just briefly, I firstly polish and IPA wipe glass before coating it, yes you can ceramic coat signs, badges and vinyl as well as all car trims, lights, plastics, rubber and metal, and to prep them I’ll other polish the surface if appropriate, or make sure it’s been thoroughly clean and wiped with cleaning alcohol.

Twiztid Metal Cquartz UK 3.0 is still better. Insanity is better at application and more user friendly. I’m a bit disappointed that insanity water spotted after 2 weeks.

I'm still not a fan of ceramic coatings. They are great when professionally applied but for the do it yourself there is just too much prep time involved. I'm not sure about you guys but i only have 2 days off from work and trying to do all the steps involved and all the applications involved just isn't enough time. So i stick with Duragloss 601 PBA with Duragloss 105. I apply every 3-4 months and I'm happy. It's just easier for me and gives me more time with my family instead of blowing all my free time polishing and what not. Again I'm sure the pros love these products and those who can afford to pay someone to do it, and a spare car to drive while such derailer had your car for a couple days doing all the work.

Please compare it to Servfaces Ultima or Suave, Nanolex Si3dHD or Si3d Max or GtechniQ Crystal Serum Ultra :)
I really wanna know which of them performs best!

Would you recommend using a foam applicator with a suede towel to apply gloss coat? Or the applicator that comes with it?

Sandro you legend/mind reader. My wife just bought a new car and I was just looking at ceramic coating vids. Looking fwd to the next comparison. Going from what I've seen across various sites I've narrowed it down to offerings from Carpro, Geyon and Gtechniq. Hopefully you review these ones in the future.
One thing I have heard about ceramic coatings though is issues with water spotting. Could you include this in your comparisons perhaps? Just a thought. Many thanks for another top quality video.

Yeah me too, I'm thinking that ceramic coatings aren't good because of permanent or hard to remove water spotting issues, don't know what to do. Hope he makes a very detailed review about this topic that hardly anyone talks about, also about toppers also about dirt repellent for black cars etc

Dont rule out Optimum. Their professional grade ceramics like Opti-Coat and Opti Coat-Pro , provide 5 and 7 years "guaranteed" of protection. They also have one that is called Opti Paint-Guard, which is granted for 3 years.

P&S Inspirations 9H would be a review I would love to see from you Sandro! I personally have tried it on 4 cars. It definitely is shiny and adds a lot of gloss. It has amazing water behavior as is... it is harder to apply, not as forgiving and I think it microswirls quite easily.
I’d love to see your review on it!! There isn’t any on it as of now.

What about Gloss Coat vs Cquartz Lite, that might be a more appropriate comparison, as both are more geared towards end user hobbyist applications. I'm torn between those two right now as I try and choose my first ceramic coating beyond the simple spray and wipe type

When Opti-coat 2.0 hit the consumer market, I thought it was the greatest thing ever, but then they replaced it with gloss-coat which at least in south Texas climate has really poor durability. Hopefully they've worked on the formula since last time I used it, but I've moved on to Cquartz UK 3, and so far after 18 months, it looks as good as the day I applied it.

Thoughts on the difference on using Cquartz UK 3.0 say every 2-3 years. Or using NV Jet & re-coating every 6-8 months, which is an easier product to use.
I'm new to using NV Jet (from watching your videos) after using a different brand. And the outstanding results from NV Jet & it's durability is like night & day.
I'm not sure if you have done a comparison between the two different ceramic type coatings before. But it would be interesting the pro's & con's of each.
Pretty new to your channel (last cpl months) And the work & detail you go into is 2nd to none. Waxit has now been getting quite a bit of business from me :)

Another great video Sandro! I have a quick question, hope you can give me some feedback. Can we apply selant (ex: Turtle wax seal and shine) on top of carpro Cquartz 3.0 instead of reload as a topop or after maintenance wash to maintain the ceramic coating?

    • @CarCraftAutoDetailing
      @CarCraftAutoDetailing  3 роки тому +1

Thanks and yes you can, but I’d avoid using it straight after applying the coating (Reload of fine a couple of hours later) but after a week you should be good to go.

Hey Sandro. Great video. In keeping with the topic of applying coatings, how do you handle the front grill? In many cases, they are honeycombed and difficult to clean, let alone great. Comments/suggestions? Ty
