    I like the mods, especially lowering. One mod iI made is to epoxy a round water spigot 'handle to the relief valve. it allows me the kind of control you mentioned with the winch. Great job.

    Excellent mods. To your shop crane. I also added a hand winch and pulley to my crane for lifting in tight spaces like under a camper shell.

      Thank you Sir! I'm not sure why a hand winch and pulley are not part of a standard engine hoist. But cheap ones up to expensive ones don't seem to do it.
      Thanks for watching!

    Хорошая работа, инженерный подход к конструкции крана, грамотно занизили раму что позволит без труда подкатить под низ автомобиля

    I have 2 hoists...I definitely want to mod my smaller hoist like this one to use just for engine lifting, but I now want to lowride both of them...awesome video...🖖🏿😎👍🏿

    one other conversion i seen on a enginehoist was to put a lever or watertap knob to the releasevalve of the hydraulic cilinder , that way you dont need the pump arm to lower the boom , it allso gives you a little more leverage to be able to release the valve a little more carefully
    i have a foldable version that if you take out the bottom bolt of the hydraulic cilinder can be made pretty compact for storage
    i agree that the foldable one is less stable when lifting (it basicly drops forward about 2 inches when you put a load on it ) and youre correct that its a verry usable item to have if youre lugging heavy stuff around

    Impressive…I’m hoping to add attachabe anchors…like a piece of metal rod that can attach to the feet..so that I can get it on dirt and not have it roll unless I want it to.
    As well as wheels for dirt that I can swap for dirt if I want to roll on ground.

      I used a 6" sheave due to the size of the center hole.

      Thank you Sir. My milling machine base is very low, and I made it to roll under there.

    I have to wonder if the lowrider mod reduces the capacity though, because now instead of the weight transferring to the wheels through a full box section of tube, now it's sitting on basically plate, which doesn't have as much strength in the vertical direction. I think if you wanted to do that, c channel should be used to retain more rigidity and strength from the frame to the wheels. Maybe the plate is thick enough to take the load though, you'd have to look it up in a structural steel chart. You did do a good job of reinforcing the boom where you added the pulley though!

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  2 роки тому +1

      Not a problem. Check out 2:44 in the video, which clearly shows reinforcement on the sides, "like a C channel" with room for the swivel caster wheel to turn. It is all made from 1/4" plate steel, unlike the square tubing which is about 16 gauge.
      So far the heaviest thing I have lifted is 1400 lbs, without any flex anywhere.

    I'd siggest adding a hoop top the pulley to prevent the cable from coming off.

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  7 місяців тому

      Thanks! In several years of usage, I have had no problems with the cable coming off of the pulley. The pulley is for about 3/4" cable or rope, so the groove is very deep.

    What's the thickness measure for the metal bar bro?

    • @freeidaho-videos
      @freeidaho-videos  2 роки тому +1

      I added metal bar stock in three places and you didn't say which.
      1) Inside the boom to mount the pulley. 2) On top to strengthen the truss. 3) And to mount the caster wheels when the lift was lowered. The first two have dimensions given in the video. The wheels were cantilevered out with 1/4" thick bar stock.
