Last thing left out of end. After Cú tied himself to the rock, everyone in the army surrounding him we're so scared of him they refused to go near him for 3 days, until a crow landed on his shoulder. Then when the first person who approached touched Cú to make sure he was dead, Cú's sword fell out of his hand and killed the soilder.

Tbh Chulainn is my most favorite servant in the whole Fate franchise.

I could watch him and Emiya Archer fight forever, and his melee skills are almost the BEST in the series, troubling Archer (who was never supposed to fight with swords but does a fairly good job at it) and also Keeping goddamn Saber on her toes and besting her, hell even Diarmuid lancer beat her, spear is superior to the sword I think,
Also the Love aspect of Cu's story is so Beautiful.... This alone glues me to him,

just started fate and i already like him more than the few servants i've seen
Cu Chulainn is my favorite. He has a badass back story. I love his ability to stick things out long enough to finish his job. Stained through the heart? Hes not finished quite yet. That Guts ability though. In FGO he can solo anything and although Emiya was my first good servant. I rely on lancer boi. Hes always my last one standing and he will solo that boss. I also love his design. The blue makes his eyes and spear stand out so much. He also seems like a fun guy to hang out with. Loyal, Honorable, hard working, humble enough to get a job, fairly chill. Guard dog

Fun fact: Lancer was actually a caster before he became lancer in Unlimited blade work. In Fate Grand Order the caster of the war was Sétanta (Lancer in Fate Unlimited Blade work) , before he disappeared his final words were “If there is a next time, I suggest you summon me there as a lancer”
Amazing seeing all the myth and history connected to these characters and he you make it even more enjoyable
the fate series didnt bring justice to how amazing Cu Chulainn is. he is still amazing in the fate series like i fucking LOVE HIM! but like they always kill him, sometimes too easily, doesnt really show that he is a demigod you know
Cu chulainn is one of the weaker demi gods of the irish myths.

@@cathalflaherty7322 Ok, I'm sorry, but this simply isn't true. Cu Chulainn is the most powerful hero of Irish Mythology. Fionn is powerful, but he's got nothing on Cu Chulainn. The most powerful ability he has is his thumb of knowledge which he could potentially use to find out a way to beat Cu. But still compared to Cu's warp spasm and the Gae Bolg...nah.

The reason for his skin tight blue costume is also because the Celts would often times run in battle naked. And the celts of the British Isles would paint their bodies blue or give themselves blue tattoos from the woad plant. Great job incorporating that too from the creators.

Cú Chulainn has such an interesting yet tragic legend. Of the 8 servants present during the 5th Holy Grail War my 3 favorites are Gilgamesh, Cú Chulainn and Medea of Colchis. Cú Chulainn is one of my favorites because of his legend along with his design and spear. Gilgamesh for both his design and that even though he is arrogant at least he has a good reason for his arrogance. I like Medea of Colchis due to Rule Breaker, I still like her even though she did some terrible things.

I just noticed something. In Stay Night, Lancer is, as UBW abridged puts it, Irish Hercules, who happens to be the 5th War's Berserker. In Zero, Diarmuid (another irish character) is the basis of the story of Sir Lancelot, who happens to be the 4th War's Berserker

My aussie teacher wanted us to prepare something to talk about from UK, and I picked this story. When I said the first third of the story, she wanted me to stop but I just raised my voice and continued talking, till I finished it all. Next lesson classmates said that they would be curious in some historic story, so just to piss her even more I said the whole story again. The best part is she couldn't do anything to stop me because it was my assignment.

Give the kid a break, he's close enough to the general area/region. Also part of Ireland is UK with Northern Ireland being separate from the rest. Finally you spelt the word legend wrong.

Emer is pronounces 'Ee-mer'.
Gae Bolg is pronounced as 'Gay Bulug'. Technically speaking, however, it's actually 'Gáe Bulga' or 'Gay Buluga'
Medb (also; Medhbh) is pronouced like the modern name Maeve, 'May-ve'.
Geas, I think, is be pronounced as 'Gyass'.

Not sure where you're getting Cu Chulainn meaning "Chulainn's savage dog" from, as an Irishman growing up in Ireland familiar with the original legend and who is currently writing a battle royale style series with Cu as a side character, his name translates to "Hound of Chulainn" in Irish.

I've been working of a fanfiction staring Cu, and this was a big help.
Kinda funny how the most-powerful servants all basically just appear in stay night unlimited blade works, even if not all of them express their full potentials (especially Archer Emiya)

A bit late, but you did a fine job on pronunciation of Cu, though some of the other names were a bit off. Also Cu is usually translated at “hound” and it should be noted that the title of “Cu” is usually bestowed upon someone that has “earned the respect of the hounds”
I don't think Gilgamesh is the archer everyone wants but then again he could be since the other archers story is the only one really gone in depth in the anime since he's the exception the the servants (he's the only one who is from the future and isn't a famous figure)

There are two ways to pronounce it as far as I know. "Koo-Kull-In" which is the most common and what you did in this video, and "Ku-hull-yin" which is more common in Ulster and the North, and is what I grew up with.
(Though Cú Chulainn was supposed to be from Ulster so I feel like it's a bit more genuine.)

Cu is by far my fav servant. Both Lancers, Diarmuid and Cu, were both just fuckin amazing. Oh and your pronunciation was accurate. Given Cu as my fav servant, my fav duo/team has got to be Gilles De Rais and Ryuunosuke. They were just crazy-awesome. "It's going to be the greatest 'COOL' you've ever seen in your life!"

While you pronounce Cu Chulainn right, the "bh" sound in Maebh is pronounced like a "v" :3 Like Siobhan is Shivan. Also, Emer is long "a" mer. Like Eowyn (though I suspect that was more influenced by Welsh) :D

You are getting the pronunciation right. Calling him Cú hurts my ears however. Cú is old Irish for Hound/Dog. The provinces are not countries.
They were back in the day. The provinces used to be separate Kingdoms. Tho Ulster (unlike Leinster, Connacht, and Munster) was never a kingdom, it was multiple different ones like Ui Neill (north and south), Breifne, and Ulaid.
Great video men, lancers are my favorite class and I always wonder why type moon domt include more Japanese spearman on the heroes, on the top of my head I can think in Ii Naomasa the red demon and Honda Tadakatsu, hell the tombokiri is a legendary spear by it self

It's not "just a golden bull" though - basically, Meave was comparing assets with a lover when it came to her attention that the bull in question had crossed the line to Ulster because it didn't want to be the asset of a woman (old lit. can be quite sexist...). That's the beginning of The Táin, one of the books detailing the exploits of Cú Chulainn, the hero. That's the only part of the book I read for an assignment back in the day. :)

Nice story and I'm currently 3 episodes in on Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works on Netflix which can have the English Dubbed version or the Original Japanese Audio with subtitles and the next character that you should do is saber because she's actually the father of Mordred Saber of Red in Fate Apocrypha. If you are into Fate universe then install Fate Grand Order on mobile since he's in that game complete with his NP alongside Fate Apocrypha characters Ruler Jean of Arc, Vlad III, Astolfo Frankenstein and Shakespeare
