Hi Lyn, it's saddening to see these beautiful cactus damaged. At least you found a solution to trim the top part and try to recover it! Liked the video! Lots of best wishes to you and Hans!

My epiphyllum seems to be growing a really long stem. Its not too old but the stem has now exceeded my windowsill. Can I cut it? Is it OK? How can I prevent this and encourage leafage rather than stems.
Hi there :_D its normal for Epiphyllums to produce long stems and these are called 'cane stems' and in nature they offer support to the plant as these plants are epiphytic in nature and they use the cane stems to stabilise an support themselves, I would not cut them and let the plant do its own thing, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending tons of love and happiness and PLANT POWER your way for a wonderful weekend XXXXXX
Hi Angie, so sorry to hear about your Epiphyllum, the good news is the roots are still alive its still possible to save your plant, if all of the leaves are dead you can still prune right back to the base of the plant leaving all of the roots in the pot, even if there are no leaves, its very possible new growth will still re shoot from the base again in the spring, I have completely pruned back Epiphyllums to just the base and they have grown new shoots after a few months, I will keep my fingers crossed for you, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
Are you running a fan in the polytunnel at all times? I noticed my greenhouse was quite a bit warmer at the top when the heater was running as heat rises. By adding a fan, it helps to keep it heated more evenly throughout.
Hi Sha :-D yes the heater has a fan built in it and distributes the heat around more evenly :-D but we could certainly add an extra fan too to encourage more ventilation when the heater is on
My grandma once watered a bit my cryptocereus anguliger in winter and in night the temperature droped to 10°C and it turned yellow and died but my other leafy cactu where in clay pots and drieer so I think tke cold did not kill it but the cold with the moisture.
So true its the damp and cold together that hurts cacti and here in Ireland its a battle neve rending with the dampness haha :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending tons of love and happiness and PLANT POWER your way for a wonderful weekend XXXXXX
Thats good your new one is doing well but don't worry about your Pereskia's losing leaves as its common for them to do this at this time of year :-D thanks so much Stefan for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending tons of love and happiness and PLANT POWER your way for a wonderful weekend XXXXXX

Love the video! I have a question for you. Is there anything that I can do to help repair a cactus that is stretching? I noticed one of mine that is under a grow light is stretching at the top. I kept the soil dry and moved it closer to the grow light to get more light. But, I’m wondering if the damage is permanent. Thanks a bunch❤️❤️❤️❤️
