What If You Were Born In International Waters?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 бер 2020
- You open your eyes for the first time, and you see your mother smiling at you, and then you feel the rocking of the boat. Your very first thought as a new born baby is "If I'm born at sea, then what do I write down as my address?" Heavy thoughts for an infant, but an intriguing question nonetheless, and in today's amazing video we're going to answer that question by looking at what happens when a baby is born at sea! What country they can call their own? Or does the ocean have its own zip code?

If you were born in space you'd technically be an alien
Technically, but you'd still be Human species.
Or you would be the youngest astronaut 🤔
no you wouldn't.
U would die if u were born in space
Haha yush! and probably you will be an illegal alien everywhere on earth

To sum up a video in a single sentence: You inherit your parent's nationality. There, I saved you almost 9 minutes.
Thank you soldier
What parents
@Armaan Sahgal If they are born on international territory (no man's land), most countries grant the child the nationality of its parents or at the very least, the mother. UK and Canada are no exceptions. And it actually doesn't have anything to do with international law but with bloodline nationality.

Fun drinking game: take a shot everytime he says "citizenship"
Brain Dead take a shot every time he says ship
Take a shot every second he doesn’t say “and”
Ligit noone says "citizenship"
So that's 1, 2, 30 shots, if I counted correctly.
Take a shot any time he says a word
This means that while someone born on American Samoa, a territory of the U.S., does not get citizenship, someone born in a plane over the U.S. can. That's pretty broken if you ask me.
Tbf, the only planes that would really be flying over the US would be ones going to the US, Canada, or any country south of the US (if you're flying from Canada) So really only Canadians or Mexicans flying to Canada could potentially benefit (because of the whole airlines restricting flying if you're pregnant concept)
@@Patches2212 you write too much
@@Hikoplouyr Or you read too little, if that is too much writing
If you were born in any US territory you are automatically American citizens! It is the same with Puerto Rico. American Samoans are American citizens
American Samoa would get American citizenship as soon as they enter mainland US.

In 2009 while doing anti piracy operations in the gulf of Aden. We did a rescue at sea, and one of the 52 people that we brought on board was 8 months pregnant.
If she had given birth while on board, the child would have been a US citizen because a naval warship is classified as sovereign soil.
In that regards the mother would have also been given citizenship as well.

Right of blood > Right of soil, IMO. It seems wrong to have two parents who know literally nothing about a land or country and its culture, values, etc. just decide to have a kid there, and the kid automatically gets citizenship and all the benefits of it just because mom decided to pop out a baby across the border. Plus what if the kid wants to move back to his home country? Children born internationally should inherit the citizenship of the parents.
Sez How thick are you mate? The baby can decide where to live if the country its mom and dad are from allows double citizenship, that way the baby can decide to live where it was born (Canada, US, Brazil) and/or parents country (Italy, India, Japan).
Agreed. Right of Soil is absolutely ridiculous and leads to far more problems than Right of Blood. Just look at the ongoing refugee crises and people being illegally born in America.
DID YOU MEAN: build the wall?
If you're born at sea; you're a citizen of your parents country of origin.

I always questioned this. Thank you.
Birth right by blood has its merits. No matter where you hive birth, your child will always have the right to be the same nationality as your mother/father.
Right. In many countries that do the right by blood if you can just prove you have a parent/grandparents from there and they'll give you citizenship. Though depending on where you live, you may not be able to have dual citizenship.
Being named a “Miracle” is like a hit in the face for the future

@@miraair3056 yeah that is why. Names are either masculine or feminine (few are unisex) 'Miracle' is not a masculine name. a boy named miracle will need to have his 'knuckle game' on point for school. he will need it.
politics aside, being born on a ship is not any more amazing than being born anywhere else. For thousands of years, babies were born without a doctor.

Great great grandfather was born at sea. His father was a sea captain and his mother traveled with him. Since they traveled on boat tracking them down has been real difficult. His birth was registered in Australia but born at sea on the paperwork
When I read born outside a country I thought it’s one of the story channels talking about a kid who was born outside a country
I think being born on "soil" is a fine law. Like I understood "by blood" and my view is if their ethnicity is small then by blood shall apply.
Technically in the US Native American Tribes live on their own nations.

What if a whole generation was born in international waters?
There was a case a few years ago of a baby born on a royal navy helicopter in international waters between the UK and France, from what I remember the mother went into labour and was having problems and the helicopter was dispatched to rescue/recover her from the ship she was on and as the helicopter was returning to the UK the baby was born onboard
this is so cool
