    It would be interesting I think to see a armor set inspired by the armor of the Inca. There was interactions between the Aztecs and Incas, and the unique thing about the Inca is that they had forged proper metal weapons and armor out of copper compared to the rest of Mesoamerica. So Incan inspired armor could be interesting to see just cause it would be different from the other mostly bare chested armor sets that lack proper armor.

    • @KingCoatl
      @KingCoatl  Рік тому +4

      I agree! There’s still a lot they could do, and since they’re taking creative liberty, I think it’d be a great opportunity to pull from many mesoamerican cultures. The Aztecs actually had copper tools/weapons as well, such as the tlaximaltepoztli, so I think they could definitely work with that. I’m hoping we get more creative and outlandish armor sets as updates go by :)

    So glad to have youtubbe recommend me somethin i am interested in. Im always curious and on the lookout for videos of native people or others to respond to their somewhat representation in video games mainly. I was always quite intrigued by the mesoamerican cultures and their idea of dualtity, being life and death. What got me really interested again was shadow of the tomb raider and though its sad Lara wont speak in Nahuatl or Quechua, i still love to imagine the magnificence that those ancient empires mustve had. I really pray we will get more games featuring mesoamerican cultures: The Aztecs, Olmecs, Toltecs, Maya, Inca and the many more.

    Kinda sad they didn’t give us the shield, its one of the coolest parts of the Aztec drip. But the shield spot was already taken by the previous hero so what can you do.
    The Aztecs are such a fascinating culture and people. They’re just so different and exotic compared to the rest of the world, probably owing to the Americas separation from the rest of the world. The only equivalents being some of the first Bronze Age kingdoms and empires and some pacific cultures. They’re advanced and sophisticated with colossal temple cities and complex government, yet savage and ferocious with flint, copper and obsidian weaponry, sacrificing their enemies in bloody rituals to the gods.
    I’ve been reading accounts from actual Conquistadors, particularly Bernal Diaz’s account called The Conquest Of New Spain. It’s a fascinating read and the Spaniards really feel like strangers in a strange land. It’ll always be the question as to what would’ve happened if the Aztecs managed to survive those initial conquerors. I’m fascinated as to the religious realm, with Aztec society built around sacrifice, and Christianity being centred around Jesus, who is the last sacrifice. Could you imagine a Aztec/Christian hybrid religion?

    • @KingCoatl
      @KingCoatl  Рік тому +1

      It’s definitely interesting to imagine a world where the Aztec Empire never collapsed. They’re definitely one of the most interesting cultures to learn about, especially considering how they’re barely 500 years away from our own civilization. Judging off appearances, the first two definitely derive from history, while the third takes some creatively liberty, as Aztecs did not use metal as often (though they were known to use copper tools to a degree). • @KingCoatl
      @KingCoatl  2 місяці тому

      Of course! Thanks for the question :D depending on what you had in mind, I’d have a few suggestions. I’m not too familiar with the game, but you could either base your colors off the theme of a certain god, or certain colors in general.
      Red and white would make a nice combination, as the color red often symbolized Blood, the Sun, and War: the latter two being synonymous with the patron deity of War and the Sun Huitzilopochtli.
      If you wanted a darker look, you could base it off of Tezcatlipoca: The Smoking Mirror. He was the god of the night sky, and was often depicted with black and sometimes yellow.
      If you wanted more general Aztec/Nahuatl colors, turquoise has been prominent in many codices as one of the most valuable colors to the Aztecs. I think pairing that with a burnt orange color would look nice :)

    A couple of them have fangs coming out that are very visually similar to Asian depictions of demons (like Oni), as far as I can tell the only depictions of Mesoamerican art I've seen with similar fangs are very modern. Is it an aesthetic choice purely or is there an example of it from an ancient depictions? If you have an example that would be great!
    Also in the weapons there are a couple with Shark teeth used for the blades, was that even accessible to the Aztecs or used by them bc as far as I know only Pacific Islanders such as the Moari had similar weapons?
    Thanks!

    • @stphn_alpharius
      @stphn_alpharius Рік тому +1

      On the point of the shark teeth, to be fair, the Aztecs are sea faring in the For Honor fiction (to allow them to come in force) so fair enough

    • @KingCoatl
      @KingCoatl  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the questions!
      The mask itself is actually a reference to the rain god Tlaloc, who's often depicted with multiple fangs, and a forked tongue
      As for the shark teeth, Mayans were actually historically tracked to have made some use of them. However, and interesting find with recent decades have yielded both “swordfish” (though I believe they’re actually sawfish) and shark’s teeth being part of offerings within the Templo Mayor, which is in Tenochtitlan (where Ocelotl is from) as far as their use in weapons, it was not a common occurrence, as they would instead use obsidian, as well as even copper within some tools!

      @@Nero-Caesar well I’m not a scientist, but I think it’s more-so related to our concentration of ethnicity. I, for example, was born in America, but have living relatives directly from Mexico who have migrated here in recent generations. Im sure I’m mixed with more things the further you track it (obviously Mexico wasn’t always occupied by humans), but my most highly concentrated ethnicity is Mexican

      The problem is their male female pattern they gotta do. The afeera were based off manluks and is honestly disrespectful to Arabics. Also kind of a nitpicky point I can turn the Knights and viking black even though they are European and samurai + wu Lin are Asian but can't turn medjay white.
