Whenever something is scientifically explained in a work of fiction, I always just take it as learning how the rules of reality work in that universe. It's much simpler than getting worked up about it not making sense based on reality.
Agreed. In fact, the concept of different realities having different physics has been brought up in enough media that I find it a bit surprising more people don't consider that when questioning how these characters' abilities work.
Also, if powers dont need to be explained at all then there's no investment. You could just make a character that can do whatever they want with no explanation and say "he isnt real, so it doesn't matter."
@@dmwanderer9454 Fair point. I mean, given how many times I stumbled across comments complaining about games that seem to focus more on meta commentary than following through on the endings, I doubt taking a similar approach to character building would turn out much better.
It's always a matter of "What are the rules in place here?" Then it's "Are the powers being applied, followed, and/or developed consistently to the rules set?"
Fun Fact: The Music Track for this DEATH BATTLE has a certain theme to it. Mainly, the theme song of “Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” titled *Fight As One* and the MCU theme of “Ant-Man”.
But both also can return from the dead for an infinite amount of time. Dragonborn can go to his previous save while Chosen Undead just came back but losing all his collectable souls in the process. Who knows if this is the case with DB logical explanation.
You gotta remember that most of these characters were written back in a time when people didn't have the same level of understanding of science that we do today. Nowadays the writing and science of the characters are generally better but it is unavoidable to include a sprinkle of pseudoscience and a large dash of suspension of disbelief just so stories can work. Fictional characters will always be able to go faster than the speed of light regardless of how many laws of physics they break. But that's okay, we don't need a perfect understanding of fictional science in order for matchups to happen. We just gotta equate it to real-world science well enough that they can be analyzed and understood.
Honestly, I lost this one too. Marvel vs DC often goes to DC just because a lot of DC characters scale to some version of Superman out of necessity, meanwhile Marvel tries (but admittedly often fails) to keep things on a smaller and more human scale. The the powergap often skews towards DC being bigger.
The next death battle is interesting. If we take both characters at their strongest, the dovahkiin can use any type of weapon and ability available in Skyrim. Whether it be sword and shield, two-handed, bow and arrow, or magic and be able to switch in an instant. Not to mention transformations like either being a werewolf or a vampire lord. There’s also the matter of shouts. Like Marked for Death and dragon aspect. It’s also interesting to consider spells and effects like calm and pacify. What about daedric artifacts like mehrunes razor that can instakill or the wabbajack that can turn its target into a chicken. It’s gonna be very interesting to see what level they take the Dragonborn up to. The argument of their level being where they would be at when they defeat Alduin is moot because of the free play style that is Skyrim, allowing you to 100% before even meeting the graybeards, or at least as much as you can.
They are just tired of these bad story telling. Guardians 3 was amazing cause Gunn only focused on his characters and not trying to set up future characters
I'm not to sure who's going to win the next one since I never played any of the dark souls game. Though the one thing I do know is that tcu can keep on coming back to life.
(hi hello i am nerdy Mc nerd here with my daily dosage of devil's advocate behaviour) "Obvioulsy dragon born wins" eeeeeeehhhh... The enemies the dragonborn faces compared to the DS protag are weenies tbh, and AFAIK the dovahkiiin does not have anything that can counter the chosen undead's infinite rezzes, since TCU's revivals are dictated by their humanity, NOT their soul, so... Really it comes down to "can the dragonborn permakill the chosen undead or not" and i'm gonna go with no, especially since, because they usually use composite characters, TCU has a stupidly huge amount of magic to pull out of his ass, and while shouts are very powerful, TCU's main thing is beating beings that should be impossibly stronger than themselves, while the dovahkiin... doesn't really have that type of mentality? So as long as they don't pull a "hurrdurr the dragonborn can eat his soul" like a bunch of idiots, TCU has this in the bag.
it really depends on how big their toolset is. Dragonborn has other methods to completely negate TCU, like the Wabbajack that can just turn him into a chicken or sweetroll, thus not killing him, but still ending the fight. Also while the TCU can't be killed by conventional means, I really put to question how much he can actually hurt Dovahkiin. Lore-wise the dragonborn is insanely overpowered, like a super human, and with restoration magic he could just negate any damage TCU does to him, not to mention just keeping him at a distance with frequent use of shouts and enchants like paralyzation or frost infliction that will slow TCU down.
@@miniman649 I sincerely believe that the only thing TCU hasn't seen from the dragonborn's arsenal is the timestop shout, but that has a massive cooldown. Everything else the dragonborn has TCU has already seen. Paralysis? Check. Fire/frost/thunder/shapeshifting spells? check. Healing? Check. Long range fighters? check. And if they do a full 99 accros the board character for TCU- which i believe it is the only way this fight is fair if i'm entirely honest- then TCU ALSO has a shitload of spells, and soul/crystal/dark magic is something the Dragonborn HASN'T had to deal with before, especially humanity-based spells. As for the dragonborn being superhuman... Ornstein and Smough weren't superhuman? Artorias wasn't superhuman? Khalameet wasn't superhuman? (and i honestly believe even fucking seath the maidenless could solo Alduin the Cringe Eater rofl(/j but not entirely)) TCU beating creatures orders of magnitude above themselves is their entire THING. As for the wabbajack or other polymorph spells, well... Petrification would count as "not actually killing them" and, while at half hp, TCU walks that off just fine after a bonfire, a few spells and a purifying stone or two. Sure the Dragonborn COULD win via technicality if DB are a bunch of idiots and take his immortality (aka his main power) away, but as long as the Dragonborn DOESN'T have a way to rip the humanity of TCU out of his body, i honestly believe TCU would win just by attrition.
@@trollman_2345 If Death battle is using the lore then The Last Dragonborn doesn't have a cooldown, TLD doesn't have a cooldown in lore. it's just a game e mechanic.
There are soul trap spells, soul tear shout, marked for death shout, storm call shout, wabbajack, mace of molag bal that drains stamina, mehrun's razor and most importantly Stealth Archery! These are some of the things in dovahkin's arsenal!
