To be fair Goku didn’t know the tournament would decide the outcome of each universe when he first brought up the idea so you can’t really blame the guy. I mean it was also explained that the T.O.P gave the Zenos an excuse to decide which universes they should erase from the selection of universes with a lowest mortal ratings of the DB multiverse. Since if the tournament idea wasn’t used they would of just casually erased the universes that ended up participating in the tournament

If you ignore the results, the way I see it is that really they both win because it seems like Goku and Superman have become friends that enjoy their fight with each other. They both have friendly personalities so it only makes sense that Goku and Clark have earned a friendship through their battles.

Results aside, the animation was BEYOND amazing! Heck, some of the shots in the fight were breathtaking. Also, can we take a moment to give credit to both VAs, Michael Kovack and Xander Mobius, for their amazing preformance in the animation! 👏
NGL. The first time I watched this DB, it wasn't until almost two minutes into the fight where I realized, "Oh shit. They've got N from Murder Drones versus Joker from Persona 5. That's F-ing sick!"

The reason this was made is because they felt unsatisfied that the 2nd one does a huge disservice to one of the characters so they made this one hope this helps! I personally enjoyed this even though like almost everyone I knew how this was going to end because it's not really about who wins the fight it's more so just how the characters are portrayed and how good the fight was and I think this did good on both parts and after looking through internet im not the only one which is nice! I wouldn't say any of the past DB's of supes and Goku where a disservice. The outcome for all three have been the exact same because it's just how it is. They actually by my surprise gave superman even more power than previous, I figured they would throw the weakest super man so Goku could take a Dub and the community would be happy with it. And as previously stated "what happens when you put a man who can break any limits against a man with no limits to break? Well only one has limits to give at all" (don't quote me that's been a long time)

@@robertwilkerson9697 I mean usually when you watch a sequel animation it tends to be better than the last. And wiz VA is right but I personally feel it wasn't. Been seeing people say why not use Zeno Goku (who isn't canon) against Superman and so the argument continues. I'm just glad they made these two rivals/sparring partners rather than constantly trying to beat each other down.

Because they were bracing for the DB fans to come pouring in; And effects of that still echo with the whole "Superman is a boring and unrelatable character, still being parroted. And DB was a huge part of making that popular.
Not to mention where they were kinda forced to make it because Goku has new forms; Now that they have full creative control, they wanted to redo it.

Look, I get what you guys are saying at the end. When they were like, see they're doing it for fun. So we shouldn't get mad and salty when you guys disagree. But the difference there is that you guys take it way too far. It's what happens when you can't criticise what you enjoy. There are people in this world that are not open-minded or utilize logic and reasoning, these individuals live off of their emotions and bias. I've always loved Goku more since childhood buying the Viz Media compilation books and the outdated orange brick anime sets, however Superman was created to be something completely different from Goku, literally it's a battle between a man who has no limits versus a man trying to break past his limits. Even though we all know Superman's story arcs and different versions isn't the best written piece of literature ever, his feats, super powers and other attributes are very impressive and hard to dismiss.
It's just disappointing that after all these years the renegades still act like children over a wholesome exchange between two of the best heroes ever created. The reason they're dissing the comments is because they know they're in the wrong and angry their fanbase isn't supporting their shitty behavior. Don't worry about it, karma will put a stomping on their ass at the end of the day.

How very sad that Stan Lee the comic king himself said a character is as strong as the writers decide for it to be, it's all fiction. There has never been a real fight between the two, this is all for fun. The dragonball anime is also far from done, Goku is ever evolving. They wrote Superman to be immortal is what it boils down to, but so is Goku in his universe. It's plot armour vs plot armour, maybe accept people have different opinions and YOU grow up?

Fun fact: The brought in Masakox as a cameo voice as one of the Goku's they show among the multiverse tears Superman punched open as well as the previous Superman VA in another cameo tear (it's brief but you can hear them looking back on it). Definitely the best version of that match-up in arguably the best season of Death Battle.
As for the season finale...eaters gotta eat...suck to be the surrounding planets no matter who wins.

Lex luthor alone is better written and more interesting then anything from DBZ. Objectively.
You can feel the love for both of these characters that they put into this fight. Even if the result was “predictable”, the amount of effort put into everything from the animation to the music led to something genuinely amazing. I still catch myself clenching my fist in excitement at that last clash despite all my rewatches.
It's entertaining in much the same way Omni-man vs Homelander was. Everyone knew going into it that Homelander was gonna get folded like a lawn chair. But the animation and character writing still made it very enjoyable anyway.
25:11 so fun fact: that panel where Superman is readying a punch after going through the suns, it's a reference to the family Kameameha with his dad and son in similar poses.

19:41 yeah because after the last rewrite the timelines between Golden age, silver age, pre-crisis, post crisis, new 52, and all that were fused. So all those feats of the main series Superman are the feats of the current main series Superman. So yes current Superman is stronger than silver age Superman because he is silver age Superman. And Golden age Superman and pre-crisis and post crisis and new 52, etc.
For clarity, Superman didn't fly off the planet to hit the World Forger, and that wasn't a star in the sky. That was the hole back to his home universe, because the universe the Forger trapped him in, _had no stars at all._ He didn't have enough power left to fly after searing for a way out, so he _jumped_ off that planet with enough force to shatter it, and made it all the way back home.

Yeah I think embracing the fun "friends throwing hands" idea took a lot of seriousness out of the fight, which I consider a great thing, as this video was made for people wanting to have fun, not people trying to go to war in the comments for their side.

Yeah, that’s the part I hated most about Part 2. I’m fine with Goku losing, he could lose every battle against Superman from here on out and I’d be dine with it. But having him give up? Having him NOT want to be the strongest fighter anymore, after losing to a guy twice? That’s a massive misunderstanding of him at best. and character assassination at worst. So at the very least, I’m glad they retconned THAT bit of this whole saga.

As a note, I think they did actually include Masako X and ItsJustSomeRandomGuy (Superman's VA for the first two battles) in there, in the little multiverse bit towards the middle of the fight.
To get this out there for their ending decision of whether or not they'll keep doing this again every decade or so and Goku's Ls. So, the Death Battle team is starting to do live Q&A after every episode moving forward from this one and the big takeaway from the Q&A is that this was a passionate project for the whole team to celebrate how far the show has come for over a decade. Also, they felt they needed to do this fight one more time to open the gates for Goku to fight other people and for them to cover other Kryptonians like Supergirl and stuff. So, I'm pretty sure we'll never see Goku vs Superman again till possibly the series final season which who knows if Death Battle will ever end, we just got to wait and see
i think if or whenever DBS ends and goku finally stops having new feats, theyll do a finale
Somethings to mention
1. That next-time trailer for Galactus vs Unicron. Those weren't stock footage or from any existing movies, those were from the animation.
2. For the past few months DB has been doing a Tournament of Champions where members of their YT channel vote on a future matchup for next season (similar to the 2D/3D Polls last year which resulted in Bill vs Discord and Cole vs Alex this year). The winner ended up being Wile E. Coyote vs Tom Cat. So that's gonna be a matchup next year
This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.
Superman rarely ever gets a chance to blow off steam, outside of life-or-death struggles against absolutely monstrous villains and occasionally taking out his anger on an uninhabited moon or two (see when Lex Luthor became president).
So something like this, a friendly spar against someone who he can fight without holding back AND without consequences (because Super Dragon Balls) would probably be a huge breath of fresh air.
3:45 ultra instinct was not a thing in DBZ, but Goku was thaught in Dragon Ball, by Popo and Kami, to optimize his fighting moves to the fullest so he could move faster than anyone. Also a lot of meditation and stuff. While its similar to Ultra Instinct, its not the full extent of what ultra instinct really is.
This has to be one of the best animated fights they have done. I also love how Goku and Superman were just friends having some fun.
Fun fact: Goku was voiced by Michael Kovach, who you've heard as N from Murder Drones, Jax from TADC and a couple others.
Honestly, I enjoyed how even though even Goku and Superman knew who would win, the ultimate point of the battle was just… To have fun. Throughout the whole battle, Supes and Goku were clearly enjoying going all out, and at the end of the day, even though Goku lost, he and Supes would happily duke it out again, just because they enjoy sparring and hanging out.
I kinda enjoyed how the breakdown was divided into categories. Wonder if they will keep this for future episodes.

The guys in Death Battle do it for fun but still take it seriously. Why else would they do all that they do? They do countless hours of research, do insane math, and have this entire production going on. You guys, on the other hand, seem to treat power scaling as a joke. You sit on your couch saying nonsense most of the time and think you know better than those who do. You've never once done actual research and analysis but you still have the balls to have complete confidence in your opinions. I still remember everything you said in the Saitama vs Popeye Death Battle. Don't forget how salty you guys got with that one.

You don't even talk about the animation, or how well the characters were represented. Here's a middle finger representing every animator, voice actor, and writer who obviously put their heart into this episode. You haven't grown at all since GVS 2 *8 years ago*. I'm not mad because you disagree. I'm mad because you clearly do take it that seriously despite saying otherwise and are trying to deflect criticism from everyone.
It's nice that there's nothing to really be pissed at here, it's just a fun battle that sorta redeems the past.
Part 2 was so unsatisfying and in a way... very unnecessarily cynical. Especially when taking into account how Superman won that battle.
Over time recently people have actually taken a good look at both characters *as characters.*
Yeah Superman wins, it's the gap between an over 100+ year old comic franchise and a 40+ year old anime/manga series.
And sure neither character or their stories are perfect at all (they aren't even the peak of western and eastern fiction), but they are important to alot of people and they've helped to inspire so many others for years both in art and reality.
Even if the Goku vs. Superman debate continues years after this, I'll forever say that this is the most satisfying conclusion.
What I got from this was appreciation for value Optimism and Dedication, and not to make them clash.
Funny then how the next battle is a moral opposite. Because it's a matchup where I won't really feel bad if one dies.

this death battle is what the 2nd death battle was meant to be everything about this was incredible the animation, the music, the battle it was just great but arguably the best thing was how they gave respect to both characters, this is exactly how Goku and Superman would be if they met, there wasn't any bad blood or ill feelings between them, there weren't doing this because they hated eachother, but were simply testing there skills and there clearly liked and had alot of respect for the other while it is a bit sad to see goku lose again i didn't really feel bad on the contrary i felt happy the 2 of them were clearly having fun and that ending was so wholesome i couldn't help but have a smile on my face to me this was one of the best battles they've done and regardless of who's stronger both of them are champions as far as i'm concerned p.s gotta love what a huge hypocrite nate's being about enjoying death battles considering that massive hissyfit he threw after popeye beat saitama
Its a shame that nowdays people only seem to care about how strong a character is, not that they are written well and likeable and inspirational. Goku and superman are two of the greatest characters in all of fiction not because they can punch really hard, but because they show us what we can achieve if we really try. That should be worth more than who can hit harder.
I loved the fight i didn't care who won, because i love that at the end of it, they both respect each other and became friends and seeing that just makes me happy.

What people think of when they first hear of Superman is exactly what Cosmic Armour Superman is. Most Superman defends a universe, or a multiverse, or so forth, but Cosmic Armour Superman defends the fictional existence of DC.
I say that in this third round between Superman and Goku, the two characters actually respect each other this time, and also I am REALLY anxious for the next Death Battle that will be coming up on December 18th.

Just in case they’re still wondering… pretty sure the novemdecillion number is… like 19 if I remember correctly. Nonillion (1000^9 OR 10^30) times decillion (1000^10 OR 10^33) becoming novemdecillion (1000^19 or 10^60) if I think I’m doing math right. Vigintillion and novemdecillion are different depending if you’re in the usa or europe… apparently, I’m using usa terms I think… fk my head hurts from explaining. Also if you’re wondering why I put 10^30 x 10^33 = 10^60, it’s because 10^3 is 1000, so not including it would change the entire equation to 10^27 x 10^30 = 10^57, since the -illion stuff doesn’t start till a million (aka 10^6), and therefore making more sense to look at.

I love these two characters and seeing that ending made my day. I will say though that a lot of people still don’t understand Superman. He is there to overcome any obstacle no matter how absurd it is in power. There is no way to erase him from existence permanently
Unicron is from Transformers and the dude is actually pretty powerful it will certainly be a very interesting match
Unicron is effectively the Transformers' version of the Devil. His influence in the universe is so prolific that his death in one continuity created a continuity warping singularity that affected EVERY Transformers timeline.
I doubt that, Galactus would erase the entire Dragonball Verse with a mere gaze ... meanwhile, one of the most powerful Transformers characters, Megatron, couldn't even beat Frieza alone ...

Honestly the diff between this one and the second one is the way they protray Superman's personality. Like the first neither of them showcased who they were, but the second goku was shown to be himself, reaching for new limits & never giving up on that goal, while super man was uncharacteristically cocky & mean spirited. Like goku didnt attack his family, friends or anything so it just didnt make sense the way he ended the battle. I believe thats why ppl really dont like the second battle, imo.

Today marks the end of Death Battle's Tournament of Champions, the fans of all 32 matchups that entered this 3 month tournament fought well, but now we've got our one winner that will happen for next year's season, they'll likely show it a bit more publically at the end of Galactus Vs Unicron so I won't spoil it, but I promise it won't be hard to find if you want to know the winner now. As more my opinion on the matchup, it's not my absolute favourite that showed up in the tournament but it's definitely high up there, and considering what it was facing in the finals, I'm glad it won.

It has really come to a point where it doesn’t matter anymore. Both characters aren’t relatable anymore and by no scale that we mortals use, are their abilities quantifiable. I'm just loving the new content and having fun.
Masakox and it’s just some random guy were in it actually, had a brief cameo in the Multiverse scene.
The fact that superman can create a singularity means he must have absorbed the mass and energy equivalent of at least 3 solar masses. That doesn’t mean absorbing the sunlight or taking a bath in a sun, but straight up consuming 3 entire solar masses. I doubt an average kryptonian can handle that much “food” unless they have been pushing themselves like Superman has. So that means Superman is just like Goku, pushing his limits. He just has an easier time doing so due to his biology, whereas Goku needs willpower.
It's kinda like Superman has...well, broken his limiter when it comes to the amount of solar energy he can absorb. I still remember that one story where he "died" once because he absorbed so much solar radiation that it was beyond the limit of what he could take and had his body start to slowly break down.
But after that, now he can absorb way more radiation than back then with absolutely no drawbacks.
This is Me live, from Goku vs Superman #4, where the combatants are on opposite sides of the universe, Goku is hitting Clark with a universe-covering Kamehameha, Clark is hitting Goku with a punch that would make Saitama form an expression and that's not even the big, finisher move... It's how the fight begins. Stay tuned for more East vs West insanity.
Ironically Goku being dead would be a better fight because Goku wouldn’t have the restrictions his mortal body has. Plus being practically indestructible short of getting hit with Hakai could level the playing field for the durability category.
That's not to say that he can't still be beat while dead. Just look at what Kid Buu did to him and Vegeta. Heck, Goku basically even tells Vegeta in that same fight "Be careful, because if you die again, you're gone for good". Which might mean that if your spiritual body gets killed in Dragon Ball, you disappear permanently...Which is a horrifying thought.
First battle was Bad Ending.
Second was Neutral Ending.
This was the Good Ending.
Results were predictable, but honestly the animation was enough of a treat that I still wound up enjoying this episode more than I expected.

It's always crazy to remember that Superman came out in 1938... before World War 2 and before the Atomic Age. The concept of the atom bomb didn't exist when Superman came around. In fact. there is a specific time known as the 'Present' which has a real definition. The present is now, in the sense of everything AFTER 1950. Due to the effects of so much nuclear testing, carbon dating is ineffective past that time. Meaning Superman comes from the Past in a very literal sense.

They said it the last time that Goku would gain a new form and most likely the debate would keep going and with ultra instinct that's what happened, but one thing that isn't mentioned in this 3rd round, but talked about in one of the others is that Superman has a similar ability to ultra instinct.
Galactus is an ancient, eldritch entity that eats planets in the Marvel multiverse.
Unicron is kind of like the Transformers version of Galactus. The main differences being that Galactus is a weird organic/energy-based being from the early days of the Marvel universe. Meanwhile, Unicron is more-or-less Transformers Satan.
If anything, the animation is pretty good with the effects and voice acting as well
Ben and Chad have gone on record stating that they hate Superman. They just can't figure out how Goku could beat him. People have also been complaining that Goku and Superman only fight each other. There are a ton of guys that can match Goku and ones that can match Superman. I can't think of any for Goku of the top off my head but, for Superman there's Sentry and Hyperion who are carbon copies of Superman. Goku should never fight Superman again. Because while he's fought guys claiming to be Gods and survived Superman has defeated men that might as well have been actual Gods.
Ben and Chad did that way back when. They've come to appreciate him far more now, and it shows.
In the Q&A they did this battle again to appreciate how far they have come, and because after this they are going to use Goku and the Other Kryptonian characters in future fights (Not with each other but like in general)
Mori Jin from God of highschool and Archie Sonic are two characters that come to mind for Goku

One of the details they made mistakes on is saying goku cant just use instant transmission with out using a person . That is wrong. He first just need to get familiar with the location or someone there and whether they are there or not he can teleport there. He done this multiple times in the series and manga. They didnt even mention universal blue cc goku form. Its a video breaking all of this down.

Now if you could control how much Saiyan DNA is in you it is better since it seems like it follows Devil May Cry Logic where the less magic DNA compared to the Human DNA the more powerful you are.
