    I'm growing a Nam Doc Mai tree in a pot container now in zone 7b NY. I just put the tree outside yesterday. It had flowered indoors and now have several fruits producing. I had bought the tree last year 2021 from logees. So far the tree they sent me was in excellent condition and nice thick fat trunk.

    I saw a number of Nam Doc Mai mangoes for sale on Ebay. Most are sold from Thailand. I wanted to order one, but got caught out with another fruit tree as it didn't have the accompanying certification when the tree went through our centre in the UK. I can order limited varieties of mango trees within Europe. I have ordered an Osteen. I buy Osteen fruit from a farmer in Spain, so I know that I love that particular mango. I'll never forget opening the first box that arrived - the size of the fruit was amazing and the colour hues, from purple through to yellow. An amazing fruit with more varieties than I ever imagined.

      @@RadOpsTV That was a long time ago. I ordered a coconut palm (bonzai) and in the time that the seller sold it, the rules for composts had changed. It took some time to come into the country, at which point DEFRA destroyed the plant. If you are in the UK, there are sellers of exotic fruits and it is possible to germinate a seed from one of those fruit. The only seller sending to the UK from the Eu at the moment is Canarius - the rest are not sending until 2023. I doubt international shipping is worth the risk for plants at the moment, especially from the East.

    for some reason mangoes do not fully ripen in Florida, thus does not attain the full sweetness as they do in their native land---why Dr. campbell???

    • @TrulyTropical

      Mangos ripen fully in Florida, but we have different soils and climate which can make the same varieties taste different here when compared with their country of origin

    I saw the graphic at 4:40, which lists the pros and cons of the 'Nam Doc Mai' mango. If I can add another con, I would say the fruit is very fragile. Like she says in this video, you really need to harvest the "Nam Doc Mai' fruit before they drop to the ground.

    Hey I love all your videos, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I live in Los Angeles and just got an NDM tree. It’s very small and has flowers growing out of the top - the tree is just a single stalk without any branches. I know that I should cut off the flowers in order to promote root growth, but I don’t know where to make the cut... Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  6 років тому +2

      Since it's small, just cutting off the tip is usually enough to encourage branching

    I have NDM yellow variety, full yellow hue on it, at yard, not the #4, here at Brazil we don't grow #4. It is hard to prune because it ever yelds, full year. So sweet. Here there is an universe of mango variety, native selections, not commercial, different from other countries. The bigest colection I ever heard of has near 300 of different kinds. I love to see your videos, thanks. Have a good mango time there.

    • @beacon6424
      @beacon6424 2 роки тому +1

      Not really, mango trees need full sun to fruit well, i think it's just the part of the tree in the video is shaded. Your growing zone is a zone where almost any mango can be grown.

    what are the temp requirements of this tree variety ?

    • @TrulyTropical
      @TrulyTropical  5 років тому +1

      Mango trees don't like to freeze, but they need some cooler or colder weather in the winter to successfully set fruit. The temperature usually mentioned for successful flowering and fruit set is 42°F (6° C). We talk more about temperature requirements in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cPtF7hNjbsQ/v-deo.html

    Why my Nam doc mangoes split so much? We have rain and they started to split.Mostly the small ones, but why? I lost at least 30 to 40 mangoes for the last 2 days. Is there a solution?

    • @noveletteharvey4256
      @noveletteharvey4256 4 роки тому

      I think it because of the excessive rain. I’ve noticed that my Nam Doc only split when it rains or over watered. I hope this is helpful.
