- ‘Nam Doc Mai’ is a very popular Thai mango. It has soft, tender and juicy flesh with a rich and very sweet flavor. It has no fiber and a paper thin seed.
In this video, find out more information on the origin of ‘Nam Doc Mai’, the tree and its fruit.

I'm growing a Nam Doc Mai tree in a pot container now in zone 7b NY. I just put the tree outside yesterday. It had flowered indoors and now have several fruits producing. I had bought the tree last year 2021 from logees. So far the tree they sent me was in excellent condition and nice thick fat trunk.
How’s the taste?
i love nam doc mai when its yellow but still firm and has that sweet tangy flavor. So yum
'Nam Doc Mai' is a great mango that can be enjoyed at many stages!
My NDM mangoes 🥭 are so big, fragrant and sweet. The best mango variety ever.
Hi friends👋. I'm craving for crunchy sweet / sour mangoes from ur farm. Yummy!

Thanks for the suggestions... I've added them to the list. We will try to get as many done this season as is possible.
Truly Tropical can you do lemon zest
It's on the list!
Is it a self pollinator??
I saw a number of Nam Doc Mai mangoes for sale on Ebay. Most are sold from Thailand. I wanted to order one, but got caught out with another fruit tree as it didn't have the accompanying certification when the tree went through our centre in the UK. I can order limited varieties of mango trees within Europe. I have ordered an Osteen. I buy Osteen fruit from a farmer in Spain, so I know that I love that particular mango. I'll never forget opening the first box that arrived - the size of the fruit was amazing and the colour hues, from purple through to yellow. An amazing fruit with more varieties than I ever imagined.
@@RadOpsTV That was a long time ago. I ordered a coconut palm (bonzai) and in the time that the seller sold it, the rules for composts had changed. It took some time to come into the country, at which point DEFRA destroyed the plant. If you are in the UK, there are sellers of exotic fruits and it is possible to germinate a seed from one of those fruit. The only seller sending to the UK from the Eu at the moment is Canarius - the rest are not sending until 2023. I doubt international shipping is worth the risk for plants at the moment, especially from the East.
Grow from a seed
for some reason mangoes do not fully ripen in Florida, thus does not attain the full sweetness as they do in their native land---why Dr. campbell???
Mangos ripen fully in Florida, but we have different soils and climate which can make the same varieties taste different here when compared with their country of origin
Any idea how the flowers will hold up in the rain?
In Thailand the flowers in hot season of Thailand but it lost many young mangoes when rain is come.
Very low volume :( I found this looking about Ataulfo Mango Tree. Which is my favorite variety
The cons are not cons at all . Just get ready to pick often !! 👍
What do you fertilize with?
Now I have 5 trees flowering
I’m glad to have found your video after purchasing one, very informed video thank you!
Would you clarify what is the name of the rootstock for Nam Doc Mai #4 ? Will this grow well in Los Angeles area, zone 10B? Thank you.
I saw the graphic at 4:40, which lists the pros and cons of the 'Nam Doc Mai' mango. If I can add another con, I would say the fruit is very fragile. Like she says in this video, you really need to harvest the "Nam Doc Mai' fruit before they drop to the ground.
Gotta grow it to taste it or know someone who has it. Can't ship it, tender dessert mango
Would a 5-10 gallon container be okay for these in zone 10b? Also, you mention pruning them annually, however I don't know what to look for when pruning. Thank you !
Try something much bigger 25 gallon.
your mango videos have been very helpful thank you very much
Can you keep Them in a pod?
Can you shipping to California? Ndm#4
I have just recently planted one in my native country The Bahamas I do hope it does well
Hi, great Job! what about a video about Florigon mango...Thanks and keep the great work!!
Florigon is definitely on the list of varieties for future videos. ..not sure when it will come out
Hey I love all your videos, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I live in Los Angeles and just got an NDM tree. It’s very small and has flowers growing out of the top - the tree is just a single stalk without any branches. I know that I should cut off the flowers in order to promote root growth, but I don’t know where to make the cut... Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Since it's small, just cutting off the tip is usually enough to encourage branching
I saw at a nursery near my home in Florida has nam doc mai #15. What does this mean?
My ndm is flowering all over mid December just bought it
Awesome! Here's to a great mango crop!
vry much impressed with NDM where can I buy them
This is the best to eat with Thai Sticky rice ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง
where do I buy a picker like that?
I found a link for it in the description. :)
I have NDM yellow variety, full yellow hue on it, at yard, not the #4, here at Brazil we don't grow #4. It is hard to prune because it ever yelds, full year. So sweet. Here there is an universe of mango variety, native selections, not commercial, different from other countries. The bigest colection I ever heard of has near 300 of different kinds. I love to see your videos, thanks. Have a good mango time there.
Which mango varieties grow best in zone 10b ? Also, it looks like they like partial shade. Is that so ? Thank you : )
Not really, mango trees need full sun to fruit well, i think it's just the part of the tree in the video is shaded. Your growing zone is a zone where almost any mango can be grown.
Hey Chris, I was wondering if you ever heard of and or tasted a variety named k07?
I have a little one too. can't wait for mine to look like yours.
Hi Do you shipping fruit tree to Hawaii ?
Supper
Pweding bumili? How much
How do we know whether it's NDM original or NDM #4?
NDM #4 is a much shorter tree. Fruit is the same
Do you grow Maha chinook?
We do, but it doesn't look like we will have fruit on it this season
What is a similar dwarf version of the Nam Doc species?
Chris where do you buy your picking tools?
it's been awhile since we bought pole pickers... I'll try to look that up
do a pickering, sweet tart, and honey kiss please
Thanks for your suggestions. I think we will be able to do a video on Sweet Tart this season, but we don't have much of a crop on pickering this year and Honey kiss is just getting established. I put all of your requests on our list!
In Thailand use carbon bag for golden skin
Nectar mango
Can i order scion from you?
And Do you grow harumanis MANGO?
what are the temp requirements of this tree variety ?
Mango trees don't like to freeze, but they need some cooler or colder weather in the winter to successfully set fruit. The temperature usually mentioned for successful flowering and fruit set is 42°F (6° C). We talk more about temperature requirements in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cPtF7hNjbsQ/v-deo.html
Why my Nam doc mangoes split so much? We have rain and they started to split.Mostly the small ones, but why? I lost at least 30 to 40 mangoes for the last 2 days. Is there a solution?
I think it because of the excessive rain. I’ve noticed that my Nam Doc only split when it rains or over watered. I hope this is helpful.
can you do a coconut creme mango review please!
hoping we can do it this season.... still waiting for our Coconut Cream fruit to mature and ripen
Can those tree be ship to other country
Can they grow from a seed?
Do you sell Hawaiian dwarf mango. Very interested
Yes
Forgot to mention... the tree ready for planting. Not the fruit..
yes.. we graft that variety because it isn't commonly available. We have several nice trees in 7 gallon containers.. I'm not sure what out inventory is in 3 gallon containers
want to buy you some seeds is it possible
I have been questioning to get one, you have convinced me it is worth planting.
It's a very popular variety.
Taste NDM first. It''s sweet but that's all you can say about it. Highly over rated for flavor. YMMV.
Doyou irrigate your grove?
Where can I buy some nom doc mai trees to plant in on my land.
Etsy has a seller. I just bought one from them. It’s a mature plant that’s ready to bear.
Nam Doc Mai is called totapuri mango in India .
nice mango
this one is much popular than other mango
Nam Doc Mai is very popular, but other varieties are popular also
Truly Tropical okay.
Hi Chris- do you sell NDM #4 and dwarf Hawaiian graft wood?
yes for Dwarf Hawaiian
How NDM gets rave reviews is beyond me.....don't EVER plant a NDM without tasting it first. Ripe or green it's a highly over rated one note mango. Like most Asian mango's it has no classic mango flavor.
NDM has recently become my favorite mango... I love it because it has a very unique and almost floral taste.
I'm so glad I planted nam doc!
