American Vignettes - 4. Turkey in the Straw

Turkey in the Straw sets the common tune in cannon, where the piccolo is instructed to play like a flirtatious turkey, and the Eb clarinet like a duck at an all-turkey barn dance, where it enters in the wrong key and doubly augmented. The piece comes together as the two find each other to be suitable dancing partners. The final flourish sees the farmer enter and the birds disperse chaotically. What sounds like a mistake at the end is entirely intentional.
