Phase Linear 700 Series 2 amp repair LED peak meter display problem

Leakage in one of the UAA170 ICs caused the left channel peak meter to read incorrectly.
Ordered replacement UAA170 from two different sources to better increase the odds of obtaining working ICs. One vendor from each eBay and Aliexpress.
The Aliexpress ICs were fake mismarked UAA170 -- a totally different IC that was passed off as a UAA170.
The eBay ICs worked correctly.
Curve tracer testing shows how to identify the defective IC, and also allows you to verify whether you received legit ICs or mismarked fake ICs.

Those amplifiers are known as curtain burners cause they can put. D c out on your speakers, what can cause curtain fires

True regarding the reputation, but this setup here has been in daily use since approx 1979 and never once had that type of failure.
