I was just thinking about this, about being in relationship with God, the Bible says we are His bride, His beloved. I read 2 Corinthians 7 it really stood out to me because it talks about having reverence (deep respect for God) and I thought to myself that is so true it is important to respect God. I thought about marriage, in a marriage there needs to be mutual respect. God loves us and gave us a new name, identity in Him, He clothe us with his righteous, why would we defile ourselves with darkness or having idols in our hearts. In a marriage a husband or wife would not like if there is something that would defile their marriage covenant it causes jealousy and feeling disrespected. Marriage is a reflection of Gods love and relationship towards the church (his bride).
