Ordered the set of 4 off Amazon for $30. Arrived here this morning and finished in about 45 minutes. I used a rope to pull the hooks thru the frame and up into position. my hands and arms are too big to fit down inside the casing. Saved $300 and learned a new skill. Cut my left hand twice but nothing too serious. Thank you for the video
Thanks for the help. $40 in parts and about 30-40 minutes with help of my son (it would have been tough by myself). You saved me a repair call or a new washer. Problem solved.
You have no idea how much this video just helped me! Not only do I have an understanding on why our washing machine has been shaking so abnoxiously to the point of sounding like the floor could cave in at any moment, but now I think we can actually fix it ourselves instead of spending an ungodly amount for a new one. So, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!! This will save my family money, anxiety, stress and all the headaches that come with an effed-up machine! 🙂 Yay.
I have this exact same model washer machine and bc of this video I was able to buy my suspension rods and replace them. My washer looks and works as if it was brand new!!! THANK YOUUUU SO MUCH
If you get good advice from someone showing you how to do something, HIT THE LIKE BUTTON, GUYS!!! HE DID THE WORK FOR YOU! SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION! Awesome, Scott. I'll do that! Great vid!
Thanks for the tutorial! Ours started getting highly unstable and bouncy so we needed to replace these, but didn't know how feasible it was. Especially since I'm inexperienced in most repairs of things, lol! But I got the courage to try it and got them done in a bit over an hour thanks to this!
Thank you so much Scott for the excellent video! - I have the same machine and the repair was exactly as you described and went so smooth. Your help with this video is so much Appreciated!
I have this same washer with this same issue. Started when my sisters kids started using my machine and packed it full with every piece of clothes they owned every week. I will try replacing these rods. Great video, I was stumped on how to get the top to come off.
I was thinking of buying a new set myself. Also, had someone take a look at my washer for like $120. And of course upset when I was told exactly what I already knew. then was told it was be over $400 to fix it. I said naw I'm good thanks. Found the parts I needed on Amazon and used the video to help replace the suspension. I've tested 2 loads, one with bulky items, and no noise at all.
@@howtoscottkeeley No, thank you Mr. Keeley. I watched a video a few months prior and it stopped me from trying it myself because the person was hurting himself through the process. Your video inspired me to rethink it and give it a try.
@@howtoscottkeeleythank you so much for this video. My washer has been dancing on the floor for months and my husband just figured out it is the suspension rods. But I'm trying to order them "exact same washer as yours" and I'm confused about if I need to order the 26.7" or the 23.?" rods. I hope you can see this soon and help me out before I order!
I have the same model as yours and was wondering why it always seemed off balance when it wasn't. I live on the top floor of an apartment building and always feel so bad for my neighbor below whenever I have to do laundry. I will have family help me replace this at Christmas. Thank you thank you thank you!! (and I am sure my neighbor will thank you!)
Hello everyone I have the same problem since it doesn't say the part # I ordered the wrong part but it was based on my Amana serial number. Well the part I got was about 2 inches shorter I sent it back and got the right part. First make sure before you replace it measure the old rod with the new one and also sure that the ball socket where the rod hooks in is the same. Now my washer is so silent like new. Thanks for the video.
Thanks 4 ur video,it really helped me ,I got a Friend to help took about 40 min , I live in Louisiana, a suburb of new orleans, I called a place in Metairie, la they have a place called ideal appliance and parts 4 washing machines and dryers I called them gave the model # serial # and the name of the washer machine picked up the same day ,4 $73
Yes. My hands are like natural gloves so it wasn't slipping on me but I know its easier to use knobby gloves to prevent the rods from slipping while holding them.
Hi Scott, for the suspension rod, are they universal? I have a amana model ntw4516fw1 but I can't find the suspension for this specific model I have. Can you help? Thanks in advance
I'm pretty sure the suspension rod kit i used is the same one for your Amana model. They are not necessarily universal but many suspension rod kits fit different models. You can check and order it from parts select website for around $65 or go to your local appliance parts store.
How long have you had your Amana ? I just bought the Amana NTW4516GW3 this year. Did your rods already give out ? These machines got a bad rap but I think they work pretty good.
@@howtoscottkeeley The original belt drive Whirlpool washers also had a hanging suspension but I never really heard they were problematic. Then again those machines also used a higher grade steel.
What model is the Amana washer in the video? My washer is doing the same thing and is the exact same washer but I can’t find the model number to go by the right parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated
If my father hadn't have given this damn machine to me when my AWESOME WHIRLPOOL Industrial size washer finally gave up the ghost (after 25 yrs and a couple of DIY repairs...footpegs. why are those plastic...disaster waiting to happen) I would send this damn AMANA to the scrap yard. It's too small for us anyway. We have a king size bed, and this thing is what 3.4 cubic foot. I only use 7 plus. I must do tons and tons of laundry. When one say, oh and I never washed any King sized blankets in it. Just one bottom or top sheet and pillow cases at a time. When it started taking off for the moon, I would go in there and TRY to get the button to pause it. That's a 50 50 chance in and of itself. I always end up having to unplug it. I HATE appliances with computer controls. I was just going to go in debt and buy a whole new set b/c my industrial size whirlpool dryer finally died too. The multimeter isn't giving me the answer. I hope it's not the electrical outlet, but nothings tripped. The two are side by side and on the same electric line I believe. IDK what's wrong with it this time. I'm just mad about this washer. I've been getting along trying to wash small amounts of items, then hanging them up and putting a fan on high in front lol. Then I IRON. ugh. I got things to do, than spend several days ironing for the week. Luckily it's just myself and my husband. No kids. Most of the stuff seems to be my clothes and of course towels and whatnot. STILL the price of a basic new washing machine thru me for a loop. I'm gonna try this repair, IF I can find the shocks for it. I live in small town USA and can't leave it RN. So I guess I'll have to wait on shipping. I saw another guy repair the same thing. He made it even more easy to do looking than you. I know I'm in trouble lol. Nothing is ever that simple. NEVER. Not for me it seems. Thanks. IDK what I'm going to do yet. I just want a basic washer and dryer and no damn computerized anything. I know how to fix those. I digress. For the price of the shocks....I saw seven bucks somewhere. Prob. per shock. I can hang with that, until I find the washer I want. Again thanks for the video!

Lift the lid and the model number should be in the back just below the back of the lid. My model number is NTW4601BQ1
The plastic thing that holds the suspension rod to the top of the washing machine is broken. I wish I knew what it is called.😢
