It's in RUSSIA, my motherland.... but in my country you can meet a most newer american trucks MACKs, Volvos, Freightliners, Kenworths,Peterbuilts and others))
Anyone remember McClendon Trucking? They bought a fleet of these 9800s to go along with their 9670s. We drivers took one look at the 9800s and the first thing we called them were "Busses". From the front to the rear of the front tire they reminded us of a bus. Just a drivers opinion though.
I find it weird that almost all of our 9800s and Freightliner FLBs got sent to foreign countries. Companies like Swift, J B Hunt, and Schneider used to have piles of them...
I drove both kinds and preferred a cabover. But most drivers didn't like them, and the companies have a hard time retaining drivers. So the companies got conventional cabs. With the drop in demand for them from the companies, they quit making them for the US. I saw lots of them in Laredo, TX going back and forth across the border into Mexico. I guess they buy them cheap and they're easier to maneuver in drop yards and urban settings.
@@Slowmodem1 you're exactly right. I would've kept my company cabover if it was my choice. But nope. At that time we started getting new Internation conventions.
International, Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack and even Volvo should try to bring COEs back to the US. Most companies are using them to haul 57' van trailers and longer single trailer loads. Problem is some states are getting stricter about having conventionals pulling long single trailer without proper length guidelines or permission are drivers get ticketed for it.
In 2000 year was imported in Russia about 4000 JB Hunt trucks ( Daimler Crysler did it), now population USA trucks in Russia about 25000 trucks. And here you can buy also now International 9800I, we build those trucks here for 9 month. You can find opening movie use those key words : Goodwill, International 9800, opening movie
@jokerman213 schneider trucks are almost always Shcneider Orange with a few exceptions that color was JB Hunts Color and i knwo JB Hunt had a ton of the 9800 COE's in theri fleet i think they might have been one of the largest buyers/ users of the 9800 COE
I don´t know why this truck it is very nice. I like this truck. I have Volvo FH12 euro truck, I have also Volvo VNL64670 american truck, However, this truck is very nice.
the 9800 series has no dog house in it. I started driving these trucks in 1995 with JB Hunt. they also had trucks with extended frame rails. some of them had n14engine or m11 engine. that mirror that hangs over the front corner on the passenger side is a K10 mirror. I thought they were awesome. these trucks do have a lot of Room then most of the conventional trucks that are still out there.
Back in the day cabovers were common use here in 🇺🇸 until the 1990s when the law increased the length limit & then cabovers phased out & conventional cabs took over.
@thesportbikeman They are still in production and I have heard that they make them to meet or exceed U.S. safety standards. You just have to contact International to arrange a special delivery with cash on the spot, no financing from them.
Hi, this truck is very popular with us (in Russia and in Ukraine), since it has the dimensions of European, but it is convenient as an American. And he's just transported to the ships to us. Sorry for my English)
Well..they are simple and relatively strong but old fashioned to drive and without much driver comfort. The best thing about them is their engines maybe..?
Better than American cabovers maybe - but then, they are a whole world away from modern European cabovers. Take a ride in one of those..and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Rode in a Daf XF once in Belgium. Rides better than American Cabovers sure. No American manufacture has produced a cabover in 15+ years. But I still think the modern nosed american trucks ride better. When ya sit directly over the wheel you will feel all the bumps and holes.
Yes I suppose no one can argue with the physics of a long(er) wheelbase. Though I do think European cab suspensions have mostly ironed out the bumps you feel from sitting above the wheel. A longer wheelbase - That's one luxury we don't get to choose in Europe.
I sure miss those cabovers,I remember J.B.Hunt and schneider had tons of them.they use to rule the highway.

International 9800 is my favorite truck.

It's true. Lol. "Buses".
A lot of our old pumpkin trucks were shipped off to South Africa.
True but these are running in former soviet countries!
🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦The most used truck here in Panama

I like american 9800 International truck.
I have seen a lot of those JBHunt trucks in Mexico most of them are turned into ten wheel dump trucks.

Remember CRST had them too in Gold. Lol.

@SuperTrane187 Mostly J. B. Hunt a couple Schneider and the last two pics are i believe are of one of the few Crete Carrier 9800's
i often wondered what happened too all those old hunt and pumkin trunks. i thought they were crushed. quess i was wrong
Whats the Difference between the orange international truck emblem and the Green International truck emblem?
the 9800 COE was my favorite too i think Navistar Should Bring this tuck back
ex JB Hunt truck. Flat floor models had more room inside than conventionals.
The doghouse was three inches high . It was just a little too late to make an impact.

I guess the cab would be wider and the shifter is not in the middle of the floor...
@@cretejake34301 served 4 years with J.B. Hunt lol
Those tractors arent the most luxurious machine out there to run but for the price youlle make money. When drove them I didnt even have the condo.
classic driving song......thank you!!
are all these trucks in Russia now `?

Curious as to the parts availibility?
Are those old Schneider trucks?
@Vista0009 they hold up good i saw one today that was 20 years old but it just makes short hauls
bunch of old JB Hunt trucks I see..lol
Most old jb hunts and schneiders end up overseas.Strict length laws discourage hoods.
schnider national used a ton of the 9800 Cab Overs
Yes they do, but thats the flat top sleeper model.
Agora o 9800i (cabover) é fabricado somente no Brasil.

WTF are American trucks doing in Europe. ESPECIALLY RUSSIA ???
Hi, this truck is very popular with us (in Russia and in Ukraine), since it has the dimensions of European, but it is convenient as an American. And he's just transported to the ships to us. Sorry for my English)

Really Uncomfortable!!!!!!!
i hate it!!!

Nawet Fajny Ten 'INTERNATIONAL'
well..given the choice between an European truck and this..I'd def go European.
Well..they are simple and relatively strong but old fashioned to drive and without much driver comfort. The best thing about them is their engines maybe..?
Take a ride in a modern american truck and tell me it sucks. They ride a hell of a lot better than the cabovers.
