Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 My brother had an old Transtar 2…a 1978 I think k. It had the 238 Detroit & I loved that old truck! It was one that my brother wished that he still had! The old cabs were so smooth looking & had lots of character! 🥰🤩✌️
Greetings from Russia friends! I love both of these models, some are still working here. But they are so lovely on that old add movie. Wished to drive em in America back in 90s. My dream era.
9700 fits right in in Britain and Europe as all the manufacturers over here produce this style of truck for exactly the same reasons. Ride, economy, good in tight spaces.
Greetings from the O-H-I-O Porters.🇺🇸 Well, I really liked the presentation! 🤩 Cabovers have always been my favorites! 🥰 I currently own a Walmart 9600 rig & I love it! A good friend who has retired owns a 9700 that is now for sale. I’ve watched it for some time & have waited for a chance to drive it. Well, that chance is coming up soon & I’m so looking forward to it! Who knows…It just might come home with me. I got an old trailer from him & a IH straight truck, why not a cabover as well! 😎 I might be a little old fashioned, but I like the looks of the 9600 trucks better. I don’t mind climbing up the side of the truck using dual grab handles & stepping over the wheel well. Cabovers already have great maneuverability in my book! This video was quite informative for me & I’m glad that I saw it! It actually has encouraged me to look at more details of my friend’s 9700. The video stated that the ride was improved with the setback axle & it improved the mpg. Is that really true?! I feel that all cabovers should be salvaged & restored if possible & remain HERE in the USA! Most of the ones I saw went overseas & that’s fine, but those are the ones we miss out on here. But at least someone is getting the opportunity to enjoy them. Cabovers Rule! 🥰😎✌️

@@oldinternationaltrucks 🇺🇸 Happy New Year! ❄️I love the old trucks & currently have 3 trucks. Yeah, I keep waiting & hoping for another truck that I can’t pass up on. I do have a neighbor likes to poke his nose into my business, but so far it’s manageable. I’m able to work on what I have & that’s good. I do expect another truck to come home with me in a few weeks though. Hey, trucking is in my blood! Keep up the good work! 🥰🤩✌️
I owned a 9670 brand new. loved the truck and would stay out for months at a time on the road, young and single, lol. 300 cummins, ac and no power steering with spring ride. at the time there were length limits on Virginia's secondary roads. It could pull a 48 foot trailer and still be under the 65 foot limit. 48 was th3 longest legal in 1983 and 1984 on the east coast, the two years I owned the truck. I missed that rig. Great view and sitting above the traffic was great. Handled great but was a bear to back in close quarters with no power steering. I learned a lot driving it though.
@@darrylrichardson1997 Depends on what you are going to do with it. Most companies are picky over the trucks they lease on. But if you have that straight and the truck is in excellent shape than i would, though i have never been a fan of detroits that is just me. Make sure to fix any problems while they are little. Lot cheaper at home before the truck breaks than under a load on the side of the road. Good luck. I loved driving cross country and at 68 miss it every day.
Man they should bring back the cab over international trucks , those were the best truck ever international ever made, and especially the one with the bunk bed, man I love that style.
Schneider National and JB Hunt had a crap ton of those damn 9700, I remember the one thing was good about that truck was it could turn short as hell, but sit on that front axle made you feel like you were in a rodeo
Ohio Porters!🇺🇸 I can remember when they came out..would see several around. It seemed that many companies would buy one or two of them or so. I wasn’t sure what to think. Yeah, they were quite odd looking, but were they that better on fuel?! I drove a bus that had the set back axle…it was totally odd & awkward when cornering. Sure had to get used to that one! The jury is still out in these for me. 🥰🤩✌️
@@ronaldmorrison6013 🇺🇸 Maybe so.🧐 I just find them harder to get in & out of. Maybe you need to climb it a few times to figure out what exactly is good for ya. I just haven’t done it yet. I think the set back cabovers are still cool. They feel different when turning!😵💫 Cabovers still rule.🥰😎✌️
T660? That's a joke, although almost all of them have emissions garbage on them, the trucks themselves are exactly the same behind the firewall as a W900 or T800, they're solid trucks.
@@jopete681 if you think the only thing that makes a W900 different than a Cascadia or Volvo is the shape of the hood and position of the front axle, you're sorely mistaken. And of all the differences, literally all of them except the shape of the hood and axle placement apply to the T800 and T660 too.
I like those generation International cabover semis. Those replaced the Transtar models back in 1981 & were produced up through either 1998 or 99.

We took the 9600 and made it as ugly as we could and that's how the 9700 was born

You gotta make time for these old things! their so much fun
It would be cool if they made a retro modern version of these 2 rigs. I m willing to bet it would be better than the junk they re peddling now
Who did the voice over?
I don't know, sorry
Nice but I liked the Transtar II's better.

The set-back axle ones are kind of goofy lookin.
True, but the popularity that came along with those trucks can’t be argued
