I don't think many people realize how hard it is to make a game. Even just a smaller fangame. Even if you have a small team. It's not sone walk in the park. It can range from easy to hard depending on your goal for it, sure; But still. And even if you don't plan on making game and instead animations or comics, those could still bring its own challenges. I feel like not many people take this into account when deciding to start a project.
Yeah, the year to two year mark is usually the point where mods start officially finishing or canceling, and it feels like so many are becoming the latter. I’m hoping more might rise from the ashes, but it’s alright if this is the end for many.
Man, it has been long afternoon looking at UA-cam suggestsions. Not that I am particularily interested in spending my time on youtube, you see, but because I subscribed, that's why you subscribe btw, i stumbled over Boss Door's new video, God bless his soul. I was sipping on sweet green tea. It was homemade, cold brew I believe. Anyways, I was sitting on my chair drinking sweet green tea. When Boss Door's new video came into my feed, God bless his soul. Boss Door, God bless his soul, was giving viewership to further projects. One has to say, not everyone uses their reach for others. Expectably, the Omori project was cancelled. Quite typical. Of course, it was a shame to see development die for fan projects. But it certainly is entirely expectable. I mean, after all, even actual smaller game studios struggle with money. Making games is a tremendously huge process. And most projects suffer of scope creep. I thought to myself if this is a strange issue of todays economy as well. Games are put under tremendous expectations, and for what money? For many years straight, people have to be involved and paid for a project. One has to think, there are so many facets going into game development. Planning, coding, databases, character design, story, dialogue writing, voice acting where applicable, camera movement, fine tuning of mechanics, playtesting, reworking, level design, marketing and social media, debugging, animation, effects, SFX, background music, debugging, drawings and assets, rigging, debugging, making hotfixes before a next deadline, debugging, DEBUGGING. The case here is clear: People underestimate the amount of work it takes to even make a bad game. If one of these elements or even two are not perfectly fitting, then all the other good work will -poof- be void. Short and flawed games are extremely underappreciated. That I thought to myself, drinking sweet green tea. I thought: People should try and play more old RPG maker games. The small ones. After all, if our expectations of games are too big, we must find fun in the small! Ib is an excellent entry point, in my humble opinion, since the old game is free on vgperson's translations, but there is also a steam remake for the switch too. It increases availability, but really, the old one is what I am talking about. I have been an enjoyer of RPG maker games for many years, which could indicate that I am old. Near ancient, perhaps. I grew through the rise of RPG maker horror, which dates me back all the way to the release of Yume Nikki. Despite being an avid enjoyer of RPG maker games of all flavors, It did not occur to me that the largely new community of OMORI enthusiasts could enjoy LISA before watching Boss Door's video, god bless his soul. After all, they are widely different games. Perhaps I had some preconceptions about the OMORI fanbase. Or assuming that a large percentage of the fanbase were young people, I could not think of recommending LISA wholeheartedly. But the surprise to hear Boss door recommend a fanmade LISA sequel, god bless his soul, made me reconsider my perceptions. Indeed, there may be those who could enjoy both. The fact that a LISA - the joyful in of itself is a testament to scope creep. You really cannot be too careful. LISA was funded with various goals, and Joyful sort of had to squeeze itself in due to goals and time constraints. That is the issue with set expectations. Once goals are set, people expect them to be met word by word. There is no wiggle room to adjust for scope creep. Ridiculous I say. I'd rather the devs would have taken more time to flesh out the tremendously huge main game, and made a new fund me for the joyful. Imagine the amount of further Nern dialogue they could have implemented. Imagine the stress of making a game and meeting all those goals. LISA is quite an amazing game, nonetheless. Now, Nern jokes are certainly used widely, one could even say they are overdone. However, a Nern joke still has its place, such as within a fandom that, considering the content, might to some extent not know about him. Indeed, I did not think LISA would be a game one could recommend to such a fanbase, but Boss' fanbase, god bless their soul, seems to be more open minded than I considered, as such, I will heartily recommend LISA for those who like Omori, and want to move to another equally as wholesome and nostalgic RPG maker experience. Well, nostalgic to myself. A new player might find LISA to be crude and rough. It technically has little to nothing in common with Omori, other than its genre and the focus on a psychological narrative. But the soundtrack... Well, it also has little in common. Both soundtracks are absolutely amazing and immediately recognizeable. OMORI has such a well done soundtrack, its nostalgic chiptunes and piano tunes make it absolutely outstanding. Truly, LISA'S soundtrack is outstanding as well. It, however, features a lot of noise. It fits perfectly thematically with synths and coughs and metal rustling, having a profound grimy and outstandingly memorizeable feeling. I had to respect the fact that Boss Door, god bless his soul, had brought me happiness in knowing that some people were passionate enough to remake the joyful sequel. It was warming my ancient eldritch heart. However, I realized, after typing my comment, my tea had gone cold. Bah. No for real guys, become part of the larger RPG maker community!!!! One of us, one of us, one of us!!!!

5:14 Oh that is an AMAZING game. Omori might be my favourite game of all time for now, but this one is rapidly approaching number 4 on that list. It's got everything we hadn't seen of Flowey's backstory coupled with an Antimemetics plot and the best parts of Randal's Monday, with a D&D party for the cast. The only thing that's not pure gold is the OST, but even that is serviceable enough. Just keep in mind that the prologue is very similar to The Stanley Parable Demo
