well it's a lathe ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxN9zrzkkhnjUF5PQbuA_B1gYdsfCu9k6z but it wasn't what i would have anticipated. Headstock, tailstock, carriage apron are manufactured from aluminum now not cast iron. The spindle diameter for the bearings is too small allowing for a few play in the spindle so I am using some blue Loctite to take out the play.
While I COULD be a douche canoe, and call you out about how you've warped the metal here, or you should've done "xyz" there... Man, you've clearly thought it out, came up with a unique design that works, and you built the damn thing!! Serious props, bro! That's a piece worthy of praise, and I give it freely...for whatever the praise of some online rando is worth. Plus, that big ass, ratcheted thread cutter is fricken off the hook!! I want one, bigly!
If I am not mistaken your chuck is still wobbling and the parts you will make will not be true. There is no way you can weld a chuck backing plate with 2 magnets and hope that it will be perfect.
Interesting but those headstock bearings sound shot to pieces, I wonder what the heat from the welding does to the bearings AND you might get cleaner welds if you clean the metal first?
Sa stii Gabi ca nu prea..durata a fost de aproape un an, pentru ca am fost implicat si in alte proiecte..multumesc pentru aprecieri si spor la proiectele tale, ca tare frumoase sunt....sanatate.
Nice ! Didn’t see a tailstock ? Can’t argue with the facts , except the color ! Lmao. I’ve never been a fan of yellow ! Lol. Did you work out your scales on your cross feed and compound ?
@@woodtowonder7868 Thank You very much. But, here locally, they told me that einhell 1500W it's only for wood, is that true? or all depends on the cut disk. Thanks again

Dans la vidéo c'est clairement visible avec la vibration de la poignée de porte outil :) Autrement, c'est un bon projet et je pense que ce tour sera parfait pour le travail du plastique ou autre matières "tendres"
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, you built a lathe. Extra points for using pipe threads on the spindle of a machine tool. On the other hand, the bearings are open to the air, the ways are mild steel that's been soft-of machined with a drum sander, there's no tail stock, and the tool wobbles visibly while taking a light cut.
@@woodtowonder7868 that’s right u got start some where. First u build a machine then u always have to tweak them. Once it’s built it’s usually easier to fix than wondering if it will work on paper. Keep up great projects. I like it.

What a Fantastic job. Super Accurate and Hardly any Vibration. So Smooth Running. You Should go into Business making these Become Millionaire 😉
One of the best vid I've seen!!! Sincerely, I am so impressed by your skills and inteligence in machinery.

Nice and neat machine.
Good job 👌.
Only when turning steel under load, deformation occurs.
love the use of the worm drive! be it a saw or grinder, genius simple to find source of those:)
Excelent Job Man... Congratulations from Argentina
i love the cross slide mechanism, i have to apply on mine, thanks

Gracias!!!

Nice lathe build. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week :)
Thx..
I Can't stop watching this build. Awesome I find the rumbling and growling of the the Headstock Bearings Very Soothing. Great Job 👍

Metal drum sander! That's great - I've been racking my brain on how to grind metal bars (about) flat and parallel without a large mill.

Any reason you did not go with ball screws?
I am amazed at how resourceful people are. Great job.
Also, what was that machine that cleaned up your 2 steel bed pieces (rails?)?
A simple hand saw for wood, with a metal cutting blade

You know, i never would have attempted to cut like 1'' thick steel with a circular saw. I can say ive seen it done now though!
yes .. I have never seen either ... but I tried with a cheap saw and I really succeeded ... in the future I would like to do more such experiments.
