@@TheHeston83bs. all those digital productions trying so hard to emulate film look still looking like shit. digital looks best when it is its own thing (The Batman etc). Real film will always be better
Watched it last night on 35mm - absolutely outstanding job! The film is just a work of art, the most bizarrely entertaining movie I've seen for a long time!💙
the colors of the film were absolutely incredible, when i saw "shot on Kodak film" on the Credits at the end, i was like, "oh thats why, yep, it makes sense"
I really want to see this movie, because it has this adventure and video game feel, in this trailer, going outside in the streets. One dinner scene in a trailer mildly reminded me of "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover", but in the modern (wild) way, where actors are over the top and taking things a bit farther, but still cool. The movie would be something entirely different, because it does have the fairy tale feel. Personally, as it's subjective, I do love when movies are color timed, rather than major grading on DaVinci, where one can go too far, sometimes blow out highlights, while color timing has just the right control and you get details and colors in the highlights. Secondly, the choice of lenses, if they are too sharp, they may kill the surreal vibe, but since that's all subjective and the filmmaker's creative choice, how they want to paint their picture, I'm all up for this ride and so good to see Kodak kicking some ass, as we see more movies shot on film every year
About video-games, the looks of Bella Baxter wearing this blue and white dress really reminded me of the main dress that Alice used in "Alice: Madness Return"
Same wondering I Rember my EPP 100 for 35 mm and medium format. Also the diapositive slide film equivalent whose name eludes me. There is a special stock color reversal film that has the orange ant-halident (sp) layer removed and very fine grain structure and size used for aerial photography. Needs to spend more time in a fridge BUT if I was gonna make a movie and have KODAK produce custom stock to later be scanned - which it all is (of course) that is what I would want. That orange masking layer does knacker the full color gamut capability but I guess with modern color graded movies that seem to lean to two hues rather than three I guess it doesn't matter (shrugging shoulders). But a Seven color mindset / inter-neg ... Might be too much to handle.
There is a world that film occupies, which no other medium can create. As good as digital is, it still can't create this world, which leaves me confused as to why any filmmaker who can feasibly shoot on film wouldn't do so. It's worth the pain, being etched in stone.
Of course you can create this exact look with a digital camera. In the end, this video is just a bunch of pixels. So you can transform digital capture to this exact picture, as long the digital information is greater than what's captured on this film stock, which is definitely the case.
Interesting take, as it certainly ends up in a pixelated format in the end like you said. Question, is there really more information in digital, particularly when it comes to the highlights and color information? There's almost certainly an inevitability to that happening, as imagery will only continue to get better and will then eventually transcend film in every way. Thanks.@@fto3367

I need a book written on the cinematography of Poor Things
Yes!
This is the type of informative videos that I like from Kodak, the film looks incredible
Kodak is keeping the art of film alive. I hope they are rewarded now and in the future for maintaining this analog medium through modern times.
Digital Film Grain is just good see Knives Out(2019) in 4K.

Ektachrome is 100 speed film.
No light . No picture.
this is a movie that has a modern story but a old look

@maxjax1417 Yes, there is more dynamic range and color depth than this film stock in a digital cinema camera.
35 Ektachrome!!! I had no idea.
You would make me a poor thing, if I hand't switched to ilford ;)
Not filmed on iphone? Just kidding.
Movies on film will always be superior, both shooting and projecting. Digital videos are... garbage. (with or without you accepted or not)
