- Decided to make a how to drone video after receiving a lot of comments and messages about flying drones and adjusting the trim. The video goes over the basic functions of remote controllers and how to adjust the trim on the drone so it can hover as stable as possible. This should help you out with your first drone! I've never flown a drone before and once it was finally charged I flew it over my house and landed on my trampoline! :) This is a great hobby!

lol @ the crash. I have the dx-2 1 daughter has the dx-1 and my other daughter has a air hog drone. from hair tangles to crash landings and even a controversial mid air crash these drones are a blast. thanks for the video. it helped a lot.

thanks for tutorial. i subscribed after viewing. I got my first drone (x5sw) and first time flight lasted 3 seconds. the quad landed on its side and although i powered down as quickly as i could i think i broke it. it is cosmetically fine. but now it wont lift off level and trims have no effect. i did notice when i rev motors one prop always stops spinning before others. i think i burned a motor. i ordered new ones but it may take weeks before they arrive from China. i this a common issue with all quads or just this model? am i right in my diagnosis? what is my best route from here? better drone or repair (and repair again) and learn with the x5sw?

I have a heliquad blade Runner drone, I tweaked it a little and it fly's super high, high enough that if your not next to an antenna the control loses signal lol
I'm new to the whole drone thing. I just got the Sharper Image dx3, I haven't opened it up yet. I've heard stories about newbies flying their drone and the wind takes it away and they can't find it and never see it again ...

I was looking for the answer to fly a drone in a very steady - meaning staying in one position, but somehow if you show the examples, it is moving left and right.

i have the dx-1 sharper image and i've already tried adjusting the trim, but it still tilts backwards. I'm not able to even get it off of the ground before it flips over. I also really don't know much about drones in general so please helppp

Tail in flight 0 degrees for first 6 flight packs or until you can do a stable hover. Turn drone 45 degrees and do 6 more flight packs. Turn drone 90 degrees and do 6 more flight packs do this for 135 180 225 270 315 or each 45 degree turn then flip the drone and do it all over again. After this just practice flat figure 8s. Then do angled or carved figure 8s and your done you know how to fly. As you can figure it is best to have a minimum 2 packs but 3 or 4 would be very helpful.

can u get a sharper image dx-2 and put a camera and on the controller you can see it so it can be like those that have cameras thank u if u do
If you haven't already bought the dx-2, then get the one with the camera already on it that is basically the same size. I wouldn't recommend putting anything on the dx-2 because it already is too hard to control and the wind makes it nearly impossible to fly.
every time i fly my drone it always tilts to the right and then falls. Can you please help me. I got it today and i don't want it to break already.
Gorgees Darraj same happened to me,but to fix that you need to adjust the trim and to do that you just press the trim buttons until your drone flies steady
You have to reverse the side that is down when the other part goes straight up it means that the propellers are on wrong so would you have to do is take those two propellers and switch them and put them on the same side but differently opposite so like if you had one on like the right side you put down on the left side
research trim settings
My helicopter does the same thing and I heard it's natural and must be adjusted and trimmed. All helicopter and drones tend to do that until trimmed. I can't understand why these 'copter' vehicles do this.
Every time I Turn on my Nano Drone M500 and pair it. I toggle into manual control. As soon I give a little throttle it moves backwards . I trim forwards then it goes left then moves in different. directions. After sometime I finally get it trimmed. But every time I turn it on I have to trim every time I start to fly. And when I auto launch it does not go upwards goes in every direction like the throttle is in the forward direction all the way but its not . Does not manuverlike in your videos I am trying. I do thank you In learning alot. I watch alot more than TV.
Scott Streeter that's weird. I know when I first got it I autolaunched and while it was flying I was adjusting the trim, but mine doesn't reset when I turn it off. It might be something internally wrong with the drone. It's awesome when you have it trimmed up correctly!
Scott Streeter Set it to manual throttle. Keep it hovering in the air then adjust the trim until it is hovering well enough for you. From there just practice little movements in the air while maintaining control of its balance. I've had mine for a little less than a week and this has helped me fly it confidently on the higher setting

Do all drones have to be adjusted?.. I thought they had a gyro to help steady the drone? Idk I'm new at this.

Yeah I found that out the hard way haha! And someones dog ran away with it at the park.
Calibrate the gyro's before each flight or after a crash on a level surface,That will help alot then do any fine tuning needed by trimming..

Luckily I got it at a Christmas party, so I didn't spend any money on it. The DX-2 is not easy to fly in or out doors, unless your in like a basketball gym. It is hard to get it to sit still. You kind of need to be very experienced to keep control of it. If you get a little wind it almost becomes impossible to fly. It has too many limitations for a beginner, so unless your getting it for testing before you go out & spend over 500 on a drone so that you learn the controls you may want something a little better as a keeper drone.

It is the same concept on most drones. You will have to get it up into the air, at least a few feet from any walls or obstacles, and then adjust the trim. If you are within 3 feet of a wall or obstacle the turbulence from the blades will cause the drone to move closer to the obstacle even if the drone is trimmed perfectly.
