    Phil, this is a great pattern, thanks for sharing. I could also see a variant of this with a black bead. It would make a great caddis pupa imitation.

      Most of us don’t. Scuds don’t seem to get the respect and recognition that other patterns do. We should all definitely fish them more often.

    I really like the look of this scud Phil. Do you find it fishes as well without the soft hackle? Thank you for sharing another fine pattern and have a great season!

      Hi Glen, I am pleased to hear that you like this pattern. You could tie it without the soft hackle. I just like the additional movement it provides while suggesting the front legs of a scud.
