I really enjoying woodworking. I had not done any woodworking for over 6 months. Tonight (due to snow) I had an evening with no other obligations. It took all day to convince myself I could do the thing I loved. After two hours of woodworking, I sat down to watch this video.
I believe I follow this pattern of self-neglect. It's sadistic and hurtful. Thank you for the video.

That point about a relationship overcompensating for other things that are lacking in one's life is accurate for work/career too I think.

This is some of the best advice that I have heard in a long time and made me realize a lot of things about myself and the past. I appreciate all you do and the encouragement to live life to its fullest and regain a sense of self confidence by prioritizing my own needs and desires.

Rings home so much. Emotional neglect resulting in the nice guy syndrome. Doing serious man work now. Changed a lot. It's about healthy boundaries and my own needs.

The best takeaway from this video, "If you don't prioritize your own needs why should anyone else." You teach people how to treat you, beginning with your own self-care.

We don’t learn to ignore and neglect our needs, women teach us we shouldn’t have any.
