The DSl sounds closer to pages live tone for this song . It has that extra crispness that you here in pages live tone especially in mid 70s and the DSl can get even closer to this sound with creamback speakers or G12H30 variants.
This demo was well done . I like both amps . I just recently acquired a beautiful lightly used mint condition DSL 40C . I really like what it can do . Sounds great in every configuration / channel . But I also like the older style raw core tones of the Origin as we can very well hear in this demo .
You know how to dial a proper guitar tone! Probably the first Origin VS DSL comparison where both amps sounded really great! In most comparison either DSL sounds too fizzy, or Origin sounds too muddy. I wish I could compare them in real... I would like to buy one, but cannot decide which one yet :)
@@blakemansfield2356 Second case is my case :) But every time I am ready to order DSL, some doubts appear, and I keep thinking... :) Right know I successfully use Laney Cub 12R and Laney cub head with either Vintage 30 or Greenback speakers, they also get me close to Marshall tones (Laney Cub preamp is almost exact copy of Marshall JCM800). But I have a feeling that DSL or Origin can give me something more. Unfortunatelly cannot try in real, need to order online.
Sergei Vlassov that’s funny cause I’m in the exact same boat. I’m running a Cub12R combo with a V-Type which I really like but I was looking into something with two channels and with a little more clean headroom which brings me to the Origin vs DSL. The origin seems amazing for classic rock but I’ve been leaning towards the DDL40CR for its versatility and I also just really love the cream version of the amp
Gordon Tubbs wouldn’t disagree. Origin’s most notable fault for me is a certain thinness that can’t really be dialed out. It’s a blast to play and an incredible value in my opinion
Gordon Tubbs Honestly all of the old designs are great pedal platforms- JTM45s especially but also 1987/1959 circuits and even the 2204/2203. Clip the bright cap and you’re good to go. I like bright caps though and prefer to get all my gain from the amp
DSL easily. The Origins are great sounding amps but I have heard from some techs who say the Tubes are too close to some PCB components and end up damaging certain parts so they will all eventually need service if run hot for extended periods. This was one of the reasons I bought a DSL40CR, not to mention its superior tone (imo).
Hey, did you use any attenuator? So my marshall origin 50c just arrived and I immediately cranked the master and the gain in low power and literally my house exploted like, idk, this amp is SO loud, my neighbors came to complain about the noise, I didn't even try in medium or high power, is too much , any suggest? pLease send help D:
nino LOL. Yea man they are LOUD amps. This is the 20 but it would still be very loud. The DSL40CR is definitely better for lower volumes. More versatile too
Wow, as everyone is saying. Very well played comparison to begin with. I grew wearing the groves out LZ 2 and for me Origin got a bit closer to the original tone. DSL is a Swiss army knife.
I got the DSL40CR and DSL1HR and I love them! but! I would have also Origin because they a little are different and Jimi Hendrix is Origin, no way !! I see that you set Master volume at maximum, keeping low preamp volume. I never understood what would be the best set up between those volumes! at moment, plays at low volume I keep pre amp volume after noon and Master volume low level.... any comment? thank you..
Honestly I would play with master high and channel low, then switch after a few weeks and like it better, then switch again and like the first way better. I'd just follow your ear on that one
The DSLs sound more "modern", the Origin amps sound more vintage-blues-y. There's no right or wrong, it's all about what you're after. If you're just after that vintage blues tone, an Origin will do that one tone better. For versatility though, the DSL absolutely *wipes the floor* with the Origin. That's what tends to happen when one is a single-channel amplifier with zero bells-and-whistles, and the other is a four-channel amp with reverb and dual master volume.
nino No pedals, just switching from my neck pickup which is rollled down to about 7 for the cleaner part, and bridge pickup which is on full for the dirty
Great man, I'll have mine tomorrow, a 50combo, hopefully sound near to yours. Unfortunately heads are not available yet in my country , but i'm positive about this series.
I like the dsl clarity, but I'd bring the treble down a bit :). Great playing and sounds on both!

Great playing, this should be the standard demo for anyone considering either amp. Subbed!
I’m in love with the DSL!

Classic rock mostly? Origin. Little bit of everything up to modern/heavy rock? DSL

Sergei Vlassov I'm exactly in the same position . I'm leaning ever so slightly toward the DSL but I swear it's like 50.1 % to 49.9 % . You ?

Felt like the DSL was just a tad beefier. Great tones from both.

@@blakemansfield2356 You can beef up the thin with pedals
WoahBoomshakalaka Yep!
@@blakemansfield2356 I figure it's the closest thing Marshall is going to get to a "pedal platform" style amp, which a case can be made for that.

You managed to show both amps in a good light , I'd be very curious to know which one you gravitate towards more
DSL for me !!! 👍
Yes ,dsl is versatile
Nice tones from both:-)
With stock tubes or not?
Your DSL sounds clear for me.

Did you user attenuator nowadays? I'm looking for JHS Black Amp Box

I'm soooo torn , I play a lot of "The Angels" the rocking Aussie band , any suggestions ? It's defy-gonna be one of these heads.
Which had the nicest Marshall cleans?
Thanks for the demo, trying to decide between the DSL and Origin 50. Appreciate you!
hi, did you use the V Type stock in the dsl40cr for both amps ? The origin sounds like it is voice by a V type based on the low frequencies ?
DSL40 is thicker fuller more bottom end. I just got a Origin 50 but sending it( I don’t care for it) back to get the DSL. Nice 👍 comparison video!

Great vid
What is the song from led zeppelin?
What is and what should never be
Origin, two thumbs up. I own a DSL40CR and I'm not fond of it.
Nice sound! What pedals are you using?
