    I totally get why you couldn’t do this in this situation but I find my straight knives tear out way less when you can take a big depth of cut. Seems counterintuitive to me but I’ve had good results. Glad you did get the video out.

    Birch is the one wood I struggle with the most for tear out .
    How do you get your butt joints tight in the glue up ?

      Carefully haha. I usually lay each row up with glue, put a clamp on one end, then use a mallet to tap each row tight from the other end.
