    This book has been sold out for a while but I just saw this on Instagram: "Dear Friends,
    the third reprint of my first book "Basic Human Anatomy" is now available again, on Amazon, all the major booksellers and the MET bookstore, thank you for your patience,
    Roberto." (BTW - I have no connection to Mr. Osti nor am I an affiliate of any kind for any of the books I review - this just happens to be one of my personal favorites).

    I found an error on page 25 for "creating a stereometric chart", where he says he's using a "one-inch-long-line (1 = 1 inch)", when in fact, it's 1.3 x 1.3 inches; threw me off as I started working through it

    • @RobertoOstiDrawing
      @RobertoOstiDrawing 2 роки тому +6

      Hi Jason, it is really not a error, the image was printed a little bit bigger than the original but this does not change anything, because you will be using proportions obtained with the scale at the upper left of the charts and not a ruler to measure the boxes, this way you can use any measure you want to create your stereometric chart: it could be 1/2 an inch, or 3/8 or 5/16 or 54 cm for that matter, the important thing is to create a scale drawing a square of any size you want, then use that scale and a divider or compass, to determine the various measures of the stereometric figures

      Basic Human Anatomy by Roberto Osti is probably my favorite book for life drawing because, in my opinion, it's good for beginner to more advance levels of experience - it's the book I most often recommend as an overall life drawing book.

    I've got several anatomy books, including the Winslow's Classical Human Anatomy which you reviewed in a different video. I was wondering if buying Osti's book is worth the investment? You've got both, any thoughts?

      @midlifeartist6953  3 роки тому +1

      If you have some level of experience with drawing in general I would say it is. If you're completely new to drawing you may want to start with a bit more basic instructional book on drawing.

      Used to be on Walmart for $28, on other book sites for $30-40, and on Barnes and nobles for $40. Everywhere’s sold out. Roberti Osti said himself that the book will come back in June so be ready.

    • @midlifeartist6953

      Yes, it looks like the hardcover is sold out right now on Amazon - which is where I purchased mine from - I don't remember exactly what I paid for it. Barnes and Noble is listing it right now for $40. Roberto Osti also has a 2nd book out now entitled "Dynamic Human Anatomy" which I do not yet own.

    Seems like a copy of Gottfried Bammes, nothing here that bamnes do not touch in depth, but its a pretty good looking book, specially the anatomy plates

    • @liv0003
      @liv0003 Місяць тому +1

      Bammes can be too much, especially for people who are approaching this subject for the first time. Osti's book does a better job of explaining the essential knowledge that an artist needs to obtain without putting too much information that can discourage the reader and make the learning process too tiring. Said that a person can delve into the anatomy topic almost endlessly if they want but it is not necessary from an artistic point of view. The only "weak point" of this book in my opinion is the paragraph on hands which perhaps should be integrated with a separate book that focuses specifically on this complex topic. For the rest it is truly an excellent book, clear to understand, very well put together, full of the necessary information that an artist of any level needs.
