That´s why I believe that Cale is one of the greatest musicians of our times.
His musical versitality is unmatched. And if you consider his influence in Rock compared to his fame, you get to the conclusion that he is possibly the most underrated artist arround these days!
Seems to share the same fate as Van Gogh in his lifetime, with the talent and creativity of a Pablo Picasso.

I saw him live last month at Celebrate Brooklyn and his musicianship and range are so remarkable. I’ve been a fan since 1973. That’s 50 years…..

@@webkahmik Peter Hammill was noway near as influential as the Welsh Wizard.

I'm a huge Cale fan, and I agree he was/is massively influential. I contend that Hammill was/is of equal stature and has been name-checked by VERY heavy artists over the years. Perhaps his influence doesn't show up on the 'kultur" at large so much, but certainly on its practitioners. @@ForARide

A woefully under-appreciated musician, songwriter and performer in his own right -- so good to see him showcased with these younger talents!

True. Also, the fact is, Cale has done so much amazing things since the 60s, that it's hard to imagine that it was all the same guy.

Cave was a huge Velvet Underground fan in his youth, how amazing this experience must have been for him.

Unmatched indeed - not only in versatility but also endurance . . . the only artist from that generation (that I can think of) who is still putting out creative, great music!

I do like to take the piss out of people who pretend to know about art ( I know fuck all about it, which is fine ) by saying "Picasso ? sure he couldn't even paint faces properly." and the look of disgust is priceless.

@@saschakah835 many thanks! To be honest I forgot I asked this question but the song brings back a lot of good memories. I haven't heard it in a while.
I was blessed though to see John Cale live twice since then. Great memories too.
      Thanks again!
