I'm in love with that voice. It is so nice to hear someone with absolute pitch and an aswesom baritone.
More people need to know John Cale...he really is the greatest. So under-appreciated...
The sound was mainly John Cale's achievement. 'To me the sound of the band was John Cale. That was confirmed a few years later when I worked with Lou on Transformer. John was the subversive element of the band, one of the most underrated musicians in rock history. That guy is a danger, a true character. ' David Bowie
No they don't.. not yet !
yep this new album mercy is great tho
Heard the name for many years first time a took the time to listen shame on me🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm so glad that John Cale seems to have more of an audience than he did 30-40 years ago. He isn't as well-known as he ought to be, but the people who like him really appreciate him. He still sounds great!
drelinyth he got me through my 2nd, 3rd year of university. Absolutely brilliant solo artist since the velvet underground. Hope to see him perform some day
Well I wouldn't be so sure about that. There are quite a few uploads here of the Maestro that have very few views, where I feel to be the only one on this planet listening to his music. Apart from Hallelujah none of his videos here on UA-cam has reached 1 million views. Considering his influence on other musicians and the duration of his career, it baffles me again and again that such a musical genius is still being constantly overlooked.
I love to say, his voice growed over the year. While I love his CONCEPTS and SITUATIONS, where he makes Music, his voice was too thin for me (take for ex 1919), it s just, what I hear.
you prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Eduardo Bronson instablaster :)
Genius! !!!living!!! genius who helps us live in our times
Love this guy. His voice, his writing. Wow. I love his Welsh accent coming through. ❤❤❤
Yes, he is a brilliant artist for sure, classically trained and tutored in the avant-garde under no less than John Cage. Kinda makes for an oddball rock and roller... Became a avid fan after Vintage Violence and finally got to see him live on the Mercenaries tour. As far as voice, it's amazing to contrast the vocal quality of say, the spoken Jeweler to his primal screams of live performance... but yes, certainly his music is more than just about his voice, and also more than just rock and roll.
Cale's vocal quality always has been pure gold
Mr. Cale is one of the reasons I started my Rock band in 1968 !! Still there !! Thanx
This is bloody good. Anyone else feel guilty at not buying more of John's stuff? It's time to remedy that!
A genius of songcraft.
He has aged so well, I think, because he has always had a rough not very perfect voice. His music has never been just about the voice. He is a brilliant musician, composer and poet. My brother introduced me to Cale about 30 years ago. Thanks Dan!
Such beauty and grace, total musical mastery. Witty and funny songs and beautiful melodies performed with exciting arrangements. He's at the height of his innovative powers. And what a beginner's guide to John Cale: one of his best songs from Fear starting the set and then proof that his new music is up to past gems and he's still developing. I think NOOKIE WOOD is one of his best records.
This guy always re-arranges his tunes. Always has an excellent band... wish he would tour with Chris Spedding again
This man has a great voice. I wish he played big white cloud.
+jimmielee i love big white cloud!
jaaaaa!!!
such a banger
so glad you are around to cheer us all up on gloomy wor ld where everything doesn't make sense! only got into your music a few years ago but i am really looking forward to seeing you at a theater near me soon! i think that you are very underappreciated and should get more recognision that you do! the sixties were a great time weren't they!
Wales is the land of hills that bring blood to the sky yet drips in the heart as though its a sticky occlusion that ferments the poison and dilutes the spirit enough to be Hwyl.
I've been il love with his music/voice since my teens, he brought such an amazing atmosphere to the Velvet Underground with his violin and mysterious look, I would stare at his pictures en dressily. And he is a peerless melodist. He ages so well...
Agreed. Always on the edge.
Nothing wrong with him and his music, theres something wrong with society as to why he's so damn underrated.
The velvets wouldnt have been if not for this man with a splendid brain.
The Velvets themselves were never appreciated by many until after they'd broken up
I hung out with jc in 1979 during his Sabotage Live tour . He was very cool. That is all.
Got any stories?
@@antifolkherofor what it's worth, I saw him during that tour in Atlanta in 1980. He was completely out of it, but his fretless playing was incomparable.
THE GOOD OLD , BAD OLD DAYS. GENIUS
his voice is like good wine, better with time, thank you Mr Cale, the little big man
been a fan since fear and explored his entire catalog...huge talent!! He has it all!
Certainly my all time favorite musician. And as his performance of Guts shows age hasn't lessened his ability to rock out like others. I never miss a chance to see him live. Thanks for this. (:
I 💗 John Cale
another thing i dont understand.. such a great artist.. around for such a long time.. not enough views in context of everything else.. i like it anyway.. thx for this !!
I worked for Island Records as a plugger way back when and remember the very first John Cale we were pushing.....Helen of Troy. This man is an artiste....
oh wow i love that album. my favourite along with mercy. what was he like to work with? i heard he shouts.
Anyone listened to All Summer Long yet? Love his music, makes me proud to be Welsh.
Very enjoyable to watch and listen to... I would love to see him live!
When I hear John Cale, I remember The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed and Andy Warhol.
Thank you, KEXP Studio!
Have just seen the great John Cale at Bexhill/the dlwp/...with 2 superb musicians.Transendental.
awesome
thank you for this 'good morning' music !! KEXP, excellent again ;}
Amazing
Pure musical genius.
Cale is so underrated! It's not even funny...
Un genio, lo mires por donde lo mires.
Absolutely great, as was his show the other night at BAM.
Maestro del rock. Muy elegante y gran musico.
Bellas melodías, buena para el alma :)
Oooh! Stuff I know. Still need his book
Good Good stuff
The greatest
You guys know the name of the bass player? I saw them live recently in Dublin, he still plays with Cale. The man is a show on his own, what a beast. Would love to know any more projects he's involved with.
Joey Maramba
💜
fucking legend
Que chimba de toque.
Drums - Alex Thomas
those eylashes 😍
Shame the band members are not credited. The guitar player is amazing.
I love John Cale - he's so much more consistent than Lou Reed...
guuuuuuuuuts!!!!!!
owwwh. so close. Cale almost had me.
With that voice he couldn't have been a pop singer, he's a drama artist, no laughs!
Ciaran Hinds was born to play John Cale. Fact.
NO
Did y'all know that John Cale found a copy of "Venus in Furs" in an old schoolroom?
Cale XP
Good morning, you could tell me the names of the musicians who play with John
I second this man's opinion, whoever the fuck he is. Cale forever
Enjoy,I'm getting lots of requests
Who is playing the synth overdubs on these songs or is John Cale triggering them on his keyboard?
Who was playing the synth strings at the end? The interviewer?
lol
modern day cooooooooooooos' bee sweater....sighted. : P
Shame the sound is swamped with so much bass early on in this film. Sorts it'self out laters though. Never tire of his music.
John Cale Vs David Bowie ...like AND Why John Cale... Theres no one like
are you trying to imply that john cale is gone?
The host reminds me of Gale from Breaking Bad
he is gale!!
that first song sounds like a radiohead song.
I hope I’m half as cool as him at that age
Υποκλιθήτε στον γίγαντα της avant garde τον μέγιστο JOHN CALE. Θέλω το Pablo Picasso να ακούσω και τι στο κόσμο.
Kevin Ayers is gone... Cale lives on!
nein. ist er nicht. es ist john cale von velvet underground. :/
Whats all this Nookiewood all about? Is he pimpin?

Jon. I want to be in your band ..I'm 56..57 justs wanna play clive
He sounds like the original Nick Cave.
Absolutely, Cale's influence on Cave must have been massive.
much much better than cave. his voice his energy his intensity is all beautiful.
Did this guy kill an old lady in texas then jack black rejuvenated his character, nah love that dope sweater!
I have the feeling that he might like Little Dragon.
December Rains version is better than the one on the album...
Nee, das ist John Cale, von The Velvet Underground, Nico, Andy Warhol, Lou Reed...
Ich denke, es ist der Selbige.
Great songs, but the mix is off.
how so?
The performance is amazing, but in the interview moments Cale seems to be slightly intimidated by the creepy interviewer
I don't think that's quite the case, even in more recent interviews he seems to handle himself pretty well and give concise and interesting answers. But I think phrases like "you are still much loved..." and "please sir, can I have another?" are somewhat offputting in a performance-interview situation due to their strangely intimate nature. The host is obviously very fond of John's work and knows a great deal about him, and the very pertinent questions he asks make for a great interview, but his affectated manner of speech and silly remarks make the conversation slightly awkward. Or maybe i'm just reading to much into it and John was actually having a blast playing and answering the questions.
lol i don't think the interview is creepy
Gawd these horrible sounding KEXP hosts
