I spent 3 years building this boat in 1991 in South Tampa. The hull was made with a "Plug" not a "mold" meaning the inside of the hull was the finished "part" and the outside of the hull was hand handed, starting with 36grit sandpaper all the way through the grits up to 600 wet sand. Every evening the paint crew would spray a heavy coat of ultra high build. (Kinda like gelcoat) Then first thing in the morning, we would wipe the whole hull down with Blue Dye. We would then spent the rest of the day hand sanding it off with what's called a "board file" A board file is a piece of 1/2" plywood 8' long and 8" wide with sandpaper glued to it. The board file had 6 knobs on it to hold on to while 3 men would walk up and down the side of the hull pushing it at a 45 degree angle, ALL DAY! There were 4 board files sanding at all times. That's 12 men walking up and down the side of the boat 10 hours a day, 5 days a week for easily 6 months. working through all the grits up to 600G wet sand, all the way to the clearcoat. In addition to this boat, we built a 104 all epoxy Kevlar sailboat for Charlie Gordon of "Gordons Gin" a 91' sport fishing sloop for Mr. Entenmann. Yes, the bakery. A 96' Jetboat for Mr. Sharp of "Sharp computers" and a few others. It was very hard work, but when we saw that boat slowly pull out of the slip on its maiden voyage after 3 years of construction, was very satisfying. I can tell you anything about this boat if anyone has questions.
BTW, I never got to sail on her.

      Hi,
I know what it is like to prep plugs and make moulds. It is very hard work and I take my hat off to you for all the effort put in. I am left wondering if it took so long to fair the outside of the hull, 6 months. Would it not have been better to lay up on the plug and make a mould first? The inside of the mould would then be of a higher finish and a finer product produced in less time? Which would probably still need some fairing, but overall save a lot of time and money? What do you think?
      Cheers 🍻

Hi Tony love your insight into this vessel. what would you look for if purchasing this vessel and what would you do once you had her to keep her in top shape? Did you work on her refit?

Despite my current financial challenges, I am dedicated to learning programming and confident that one day I will establish a successful IT company. With hard work and determination, I will achieve financial abundance and fulfill my dream of owning a luxurious yacht. When that day comes, I will proudly say, "I knew I could do it!"
