Great vid man, been trying to boardslide a rail for a while now, its a bit taller and round than yours but i feel like with these tips im gonna get it. main problem is not being able to get off the rail after a nice slide
I am nearly 39yrs old and i started skating again, two weeks ago. Thank you for this perfect timing, because I will get a rail in two days. I will have to commit because I am not getting any younger and I want to be able to do this.
@@PursuitSk8 no. I am to scared to commit. I know I can technically do it. But because of my responsibilities I am afraid to get badly hurt. This summer I will work on it. Because then, I will on vacation and some responsibilities will be put on hold.
Dude - THANK YOU. After watching your video I got motivated and I finally managed to get myself to Ollie into balancing on the rail and I’m so stoked!! Hoping to slide it soon!
my biggest problem is that i cant get out of the boardslide again like, i can boardslide a really long rail, but when i get to the end i just land with my body still facing forward
Last week I actually committed for the first time to getting on the rail with both feet still on the board. I didn’t roll away but I’m so happy this video just came out I’ve literally watched every other board slide video and I’ve been dreaming about going back to try again. Thanks Sean!
the flatbar at my park has this little base plate where my wheels always get stuck in when landing ,so i have to go full speed, slide it and then roll in to grass
I’ve been skating here an there an after getting into it more I’ve been able to get comfortable at skate parks. Never been able to hit the rails because of my confidence but I finally did it an boardsliding was my first! Just have to land it cause I haven’t got around it.
yesterday i was at the skate park and i was like gonna ollie on it and i pulled the board slide out of anywhere and i was like doing it but yea i struggled and fell so i’m here to learn
question!! i have learned a board slide and i have it on lock .. so what should i learn next on the rail ? i want to be able to do smith grinds and feebles but i want to work my way up to them so what is helpful after a board slide ??
Been skating for a year never did a boardslide, my problem is committing, i almost got my tre flips and still can’t boardslide so it’s about time imma start learning em
I was really scared to try it and wasn't committing, but then I saw the part where you recommended to stationary ollie on and then jump off after a few seconds and it changed everything. I'm starting to get them consistently with like 1/3 of the rail. I'm really hyped about, the video is great! @@seanbrownskating
i know how to boarslide, i made a diy flatbar and its the same height as yours but when i go to the skateplaza in my city the flatbar there is like knee height and i cant do it i just cant commit any tips? i got my ollies really solid and nice i just cant commit
If you're talking about getting onto the rail with two feet, then it really comes down to commitment. The only way to really battle that is to try to hop on the later part of the rail so you don't have to slide for too long. Also wear a helmet or protective gear to build up your confidence. Really just focus on keeping both of your feet glued onto the board.
my local park doesn't have a flat rail, only a ledge :( I can get into them and slide almost the whole ledge but I have a hard time getting out of it for a 5050 and 5-0 I just pop off but i can't manage to get it on a boardslide I have a bunch of tricks but I just never learned board slides because I tried when I was younger and just snapped my board I'm a lil older now and actually have income so i can afford new boards so I just started learning them now lol
It's a Zero flat bar. I haven't seen it sold anywhere else though, I was handed it down from a neighbor. I'd recommend either a FreshPark or Element flat bar though.
I did this in 2 days and all I can say it’s all about your head it’s kinda a head game and you should do decent front 180s and be sure that you will fall
Mix of wax and my back wheel not locking. You should’ve seen how much he was waxing it. He mainly waxed the top of the ledge and not the coping, hence why I slipped when my wheels hit the top. Prob could’ve jumped off if it wasnt over waxed
Why you can’t nollie shuv? Edit: I know that nobody wants to see that but I’m having trouble, or do fakie shuv cause that’s pretty much the same thing but switch
Brooo I just bought a rail. How did u know I was going to search this up? That's crazy
Im just smooth like dat 😎
@@seanbrownskating lol
This could not have had more perfect timing...
Im just like that 😎
Sean Brown yeah I guess but it’s starting to happen to often 😑
Lol same here
Fr lol
Same lmao
Tip: don’t go super slow when you are first learning and make sure the rail has some wax because sticking on the rail is the worst
For sure bro! My first boardslide I did was extremely waxed, and I feel way more control and comfort on slidey rails
Me too
Tried for the first time today and ate tarmac. It will be a while before I try again 😂
@@KyeHortonNinjaWindowCleaningyou got em now?
Yooo I just got a rail three days ago and searched specifically for this video by Sean and I couldn’t find it but now it came up and i’m hyped!!!

@@seanbrownskating where'd u buy that awesome rail?

@@seanbrownskating aaahhh okay thanks but which rail do you recommend to buy?
Firas Elmiger Element Flatbar, Freshpark Flatbar, or Transformer Rail
Thank you, sir! Just bought a rail. I've been able to heelflip/180/ollie/popshovit all my life, hoping to get in some boardslides. Great footage!
kickflip?
I used to watch Braille tutorials on how to do things but I found you and realized they suck at teaching in videos lmao. Thanks for another great vid!

This is very helpful
solid advice
Thanks!
the flatbar at my park has this little base plate where my wheels always get stuck in when landing ,so i have to go full speed, slide it and then roll in to grass
the tip that helped me was to lean back slightly. dont focus too much on this, as long as you dont lean FORWARD and your rail is waxed your fine!
Bro, youre the best! Thank you a lot, i was injured months ago and returned to skate today and tried some boardslides
I’ve been skating here an there an after getting into it more I’ve been able to get comfortable at skate parks. Never been able to hit the rails because of my confidence but I finally did it an boardsliding was my first! Just have to land it cause I haven’t got around it.

Thank you! also thanks for going straight to the point
At 7:49 your goofy shot is the same video clip from your regular slide at 7:42 only it is mirrored, omg, that's hilarious!
Yup! Some people just can't visually imagine the opposite stance unless I mirror them

Try to do the pop on the rail stationary like I mentioned in the video to feel it out before going for the full slide
Yessssssssss

And I landed it Fakie first
hey bro, I can do the boardslide on the rail but I can't land it on the ground then, can u help me?
i mean, how to turn around the board after that
My ollie is so, so much better on rough concrete than smooth. Pls help
Not going to lie. I bought an oc Ramps rail. And every time i use it I just slip out and end up on my back. Round rail btw
My guess is you’re leaning far back or are landing with your feet close together 🤷🏾♂️
i’m landing it 60° how can i fix that?
I can't get my back foot onto my board when it's on the rail...
6:01 Why did it hapen? Back wheels does’t lockin cause it overwaxed?
Mix of wax and my back wheel not locking. You should’ve seen how much he was waxing it. He mainly waxed the top of the ledge and not the coping, hence why I slipped when my wheels hit the top. Prob could’ve jumped off if it wasnt over waxed
Sean Brown It’s like Pro check spot by hands before go it might help.
Why can’t you Noseslide ? 😄 cool video by the way !
And I’m wearing a gray shirt 😂😂🕶
its a little different than with a round rail you cant really ollie on to it to feel the balance unless you have like really good balance
True. By that point, it's best to go straight to tapping the rail at the end and then working your way back to slide more.
@@seanbrownskating for me round rails are more fun and there more common at skate parks crooks are eaz
Next do why you can’t manual?
When I find a manny pad, for sure!
Our homie do's as he does. We wish we could skate how he was. 🛹🙏
i find it hard to get on the rail..
for some reason i can boardslide and get out to fakie, but i can never get out to regular if anyone has any tips pls lmk
Sean, you should make a tutorial on beanplant 180s
I have a round tail and it's way tougher than a square flat rail
I honestly think its easier cause you can BS the slide a little more. But I guess it could be easier to fall off the side 🤷🏾♂️
Why you can’t nollie shuv? Edit: I know that nobody wants to see that but I’m having trouble, or do fakie shuv cause that’s pretty much the same thing but switch
It is just about commitment and staying centered over your board you can figure it out by yourself
Tomorrow i will land it :D
QUESTION. Is it bad to practice on a taller rail? Like a foot high? I know I can Ollie that high. It’s just scary as hell
It’s more practical on a taller rail actually
