    Roberto Carlos is widely regarded as the greatest Left Back ever - so he was a defender. He did overlap past the winger, dribbling the ball down the left wing, and he was also an excellent defensively. His most exciting attribute was definitely this incredible striking ability though. He’s one of the hardest hitters. John Arne Riise is another one, who also played LB. There’s some great US commentary where he says “Riise - release the Kraken” 😂

      @@denker032047146 Where did I compare? As I said, Carlos is the GOAT. Riise could hit the ball hard though, that’s not really up for debate. He broke Alan Smith’s leg with a free kick!

    You won’t see him dribble because he’s a defender. A full back to be precise!

    They are called freekicks, not penalty kicks. Else nice reaction, keep it up and watch Ricardo Quaresma next

    My favourite footballer when it comes to just goals. The PROBLEM with watching this compilation is it makes you less able to appreciate other goals. They're just too good. The 4:47 of not understanding of what that goal was was hard to watch tho

    • @denker032047146
      @denker032047146 2 роки тому +1

      yeah most dont understand how insanely hard you have to hit the ball to make it act that way in the air. And the ball is litterly going out befor it breaks and just makes the goalpost. On at the time the best keeper in the world at the world cup. Cant make it greater than that.

      Yes. I was flabbergasted that he did not notice the greatest free kick ever. The. Greatest. Freeeeeeeeee. Kick. Ever.

      he even missed how goalie came forward to take ball at 2:32 and ball took a curve and went in

    The thing is Roberto Carlos played as a left outer defender. His main job was defending his flank and helping the winger get past the opposition defense. This is a compilation of his goals and as a left defender most of his goals will come from far away or from set pieces - corner and free kicks. That's why you don't see him dribbling much, these are just his goals, even though he knew how to dribble ofc Roberto Carlos had a rocket for a leg and is widely acknowledged as one of the best free kick takers ever.
    One more thing. In Football (Soccer) there is no such thing as a quick sub. Once a player is subbed out he can't get back in and you also only have 3 subs per match. That way even your sub has to be fully ready to play for the rest of the game.

    He's a left back defender. He doesn't dribble much and he doesn't have to. He is a good defender too and he just has the most powerful shots in the game.

    He is much more than a power player, you are just seeing snap shots of his long distance shots.

  • @thiagowwz
    @thiagowwz 2 роки тому +7

    05:55 - his shots could reach over 130km/h (around 80 mph, I guess), no one would want to get hit by that, lol
    I see you got disappointed (lol), but this video was more to show his powerful and precise kicks. But he could also dribble and assist very well even being a defender (and a really good one). If you search for his name and "skills" you might find some other videos.

    • @KaoloDikkeHond
      @KaoloDikkeHond 2 роки тому +3

      yeah it's absolutely stupid how powerful his kick is. I have the highest shot power in my club, and i still only reach about 120. And that is just purely shooting for power, he's doing this kinda shit in international games from like 30 meters out and bangs it top corner. not to mention the fact that he was a defender. absolute madness.

    • @thiagowwz

    @3.30 sometimes in soccer an indirect free kick can be awarded depending on the type of foul/offence committed, indirect free kicks are not allowed to go directly into the goal from a shot, the ball has to be passed first (possibly why they passed it between 2 players first) but with direct free kicks you can shoot straight at goal.

    I can easily tell that you don't understand much about this sport called Football (soccer in the US) this man played as a left back which is a defensive position not a forward or attacking position like Messi so dribbling has little or nothing to do with playing defense specially in the years when he played. And NO he doesn't kick a single penalty shot in the video like you're saying "he's just kicking penalty shots and no dribble" This guy was and is legendary because of the tremendous power in his left leg when he kicked the ball either on a free kick or with the ball in movement from very long distance and that's why the title of the original video.

    4:42 Why do talk and not reacting to his best free kick goal..?! 😭
    External side of the foot. (not inside not front) and crazy curve effect.
    What's amazing (because you alaways say "he doesn't dribble much") is that he's a DEFENDER..! And he scores goals! That's crazy in football/Soccer.

    He's a defender (left back), and defenders are not the best dribblers but he can do it he's a Brasilian !!!, but it's not their main job, even freekicks, scoring goals, are an extra job for a defender (in the past) now things have changed. I think You should see more informational videos about the sport.

    of course he could dribble too, although as a defender, this was not his main job. If disarmed in a dribble, defense would be open.
    So usually, he would go for the power shot, as that would either result in a goal or in the ball going outside, or an opposition played injured by being hit by the ball (haha) so he would have time to return to defense.
    He was crazy fast anyway
