Like you've said before Tim; it's just a big old learning experience for everyone who hasn't done wide and oversized loads ever before when your just starting in the trucking world.
Steve’s good people you can tell by how he carried himself and how Tim n him conversate…. They seem like they been friends from day one… u know those type of people that u meet… both tim and Steve seem like that to me. I am that way. There’s not a face I won’t make smile and a tear I won’t catch, that is why I like gentry n sons..
Watching that video brought back lots of memories of us back in the 90s hauling coal out of West Virginia in w900 Kenworth with a 38 ft frameless dump trailer air ride we went up mountains that you wouldn't hardly take a four-wheel drive truck up curves that you had to back up in but we loved it and done it every day chain up at the bottom in the snow and ice and go up it and have a dozer tied to you to come back off
Love your attitude and disposition it makes me feel that there is a chance for this crazy world to right itself. I hope Brxton sticks with you he has a great dad.
Has the pleasure of driving a cab over like that, scariest 140 mile round trip ever! It was a local farmer's truck, ran and shifted like a dream, steering not so much. The farmer came and took it away saying it was not safe(a wee bit late!) Definitely an experience that put some hair on my chest. Good times!
This is why I believe someone should make cabovers again…for mountains caves down town city driving. It would be a huge help cause some dispatchers think a semi with a 53ft trailer can go where box trucks barely fit lol
@@philgrimsey3637 yeah and up here in northern europe 114.8ft long without any special permits needed. Wouldn't have taken long b-train on that road willingly though haha
Volvo offered the European style FH XXL to the US market and they refused it due to not believing it would sell haha. Have a look online, the cab space is huge for a cab over and here in the UK we have 750/770hp trucks from factory everywhere offered by Scania and Volvo that will return 11mpg all day.
I was 18 years old and I took my driving test in a 1978 coe GMC . No trailer. It was in 1978 yep, it was a new truck, i wish i could be there with y'all, having fun. Sure miss my dad, and mom . Y'all keep on trucking. God bless,

You actually helped sidetrack my thoughts from this crazy situation I find myself in to something more enjoyable..Thanks bud , you made this banged up Canadian happy for a few hours.Takecare and I will be looking forward to watching your activities from day to day on trucking ,building whatever you do on this channel.
I miss doing this kind of trucking! Always something interesting to haul, and customers always came running up to you with a smile on their faces. Fast forward to now, hauling reefer loads......well, I'm just another damn truck on someone's property. 😟
Wow the gmc 1977 Cabover came down the mountain with the exvator with nice jake brakes sounding loud great Cumming motor great to have a old school Cabover tractor still around the farm in bussiness 🚛👈👈
Awesome Trucking Tim. Love this video and love seeing these old trucks on the road working. Reminds me of the old GMC conventional single axle we had for hauling machinery. We called it “The Horse”. Loved that truck.
That’s what we all used to do, make work fun. What a fantastic place to live. Fingers crossed you didn’t meet another truck in the opposite direction. Loved the video Tim.
that old cab over seems like a pretty decent tight truck and looks like it rides good and the engine and transmission sound great Plus it seems like it shifts really smooth
Used to haul hay off of farms to road jobs such as I 79 WV and coal mines with my dad in the 60’s clear up to 1980’s. I wish i could do it all again! Thank you! Thank you for sharing! Makes me very happy to see COE’s and those boys driving and learning as I did!

Some excellent downhill truck driving; slow & safe. The only thing I can add is, after loading the excavator on the trailer, I would have checked the adjustment of each of the 10 brakes, and done a brake check.
@@guyod1 I kinda agree we own are own excavating company its just 2 of us now but when we had several employees they would smash panels with no grapple just not paying attention or trying to grab trees with out using a chain. Our 312 has a thumb and it's the cats ass but she's a older machine I believe a 1996 so we aren't to worried about scratches but the new 313f id murder someone lol

I used to haul coal with a tractor trailer on roads just like that Tim. Used to pack 150-170000 gross. It was pretty sketchy at first but you get used to after awhile.
I think it's funny how big of a thrill you guys get out of driving a cabover truck i would be willing to bet if you had to drive one all the time like i did when i started driving you wouldn't be so happy about it and one front tire blow out if you made it through it and you wouldn't want to drive one ever again.
This is an awesome video. That go pro footage👌 Tim had the ol girl talking to us, nice driving!! I'd definitely subscribe to Steve's channel to see more of this truck build.
Only two pieces of advice. First of all when I did heavy haul I always turned around while I was empty. It’s easier on the truck trailer in if need be you can see across the trailer to the other side. Second piece of advice I would give you is learn to side load and unload. Jackson and Jimmy almost did it with the ripsaw but you need to be perfectly Street coming off And on the trailer. Then he’s been around what you’re up on top of the deck.
Sideloading might be convenient and save time but it’s not the way you should especially when you got ramps you can go up on, and over time you’re replacing your deck wood more often, and most importantly it puts unwanted strain on the trailer. Might work 99 times but that 100th time you could be up a creek without a paddle
Sideloading on these trailers is not the greatest idea as you tear up the trailer crack welds tear up the deck mess up suspension components etc but highly agree on getting whipped around empty.
Man as usual I love your videos the road was kind of small that I see you made it through with the truck it's always good to have friends like the ones you have especially when you can count on them I'm from down here in Alabama we love your videos and and give Braxton a high-five for me as usual keep giving out them good videos Man

Love the jakes mate, Just love what I see on youtube showing the USA. Looks like a very beautiful country... I am from Australia... Love the older trucks too.Regards Rob.
If that trailer does not have an overlift, you may wanna strongly consider adding it to that trailer and tractor you'll mainly pull that trailer with. Drove stinger style car carrier for 15 years, having the overlift saved my butt many a time in those occasional tricky situations. Height wise off the ground, was only a few inches different vs the rgn, but close enough where having the overlift still was worth every penny...good luck Tim.
Lot of respect how you handled that. I was in a Uhaul moving truck and was routed off the highway in Colorado mountains by google maps saying highway is closed- it wasnt. Put on a mountain road with many switch backs, I was so teed off trying to navigate that

My dad always told me, son those aren’t mountains, Colorado has mountains!😆
Dam !!! That truck sounds awesome I could hear that all day, Steve has got a champ right there.
It amazes me how people can manage to smash panels and counterweights on a zero tail swing excavator.
It's easy when they're backing up and not paying attention where they're going.😆
Once there is a thumb on it all panels are open for damage. its no longer a machine for just moving dirt.
