I moved boats for almost 10 years back in the early 80s out here on the west coast from southern California all the way into Canada and east to lake Havasu power boats ,sail boats , wood , steel ,fiberglass .pleasure work and navel my truck and trailer was 75 foot long fixed length with a mast i could be over 85 foot long .I loved my job . best story one time i moved a 42 foot Catalina when i got to the delivery point the owner climbed on board before off loading then came back out and told me she had left a glass of wine on the counter and it was still standing when i got there over a 1,000 miles later .
I was loading up a car to move from the house to the shop.. Just a pickup and a regular little old car trailer.. Started drinking beers with the neighbor across the fence.. . Got up in the morning, and took off to the shop, 25ish miles... Get out of my truck, and there is an empty beer can sitting on the corner of my bumper.. Empty Empty, not an inch or 2 of liquid, empty empty, the kind of empty that gets knocked around in a 4mph breeze.. No idea how it stayed there.
Tim, you did an excellent job maneuvering that boat through that town, but I was sitting there in my chair watching you and my stress and anxiety got to building up.

I gotta say this video gave me a little anxiety or ptsd😂 Lousy permits, poor routing, customers that had no clue regarding sizes, access and how to get what was on my trailer off. Wow! So much going on in this delivery! That was one stressful job from beginning to end. Thanks for the video and giving insight into the life of a trucker.
I grew up on a small grain farm, 3000 acres my dad had some help eventually by 9 or 10 I was picking rocks. I always wanted to be out with my dad, and I got to be. Eventually I got to be out working together with him, drive grain truck while he combines or whatever. My point is my man, I am happy for your boy and you that you can bring your kid to work, show him what a hard days work looks like, that if you love it that it will work out. So many kids grow up with dads who either are entirely absent or work long hours, we all do these days. Just saying, thought of my dad and me sitting in the cab of the combine or tractor, can't put a dollar amount on those early lessons from my dad.
Interesting video. I went through the same thing back in the late 90's as a new boat owner. I bought a distressed sailboat and paid to have it hauled out and delivered to my parents farm for DIY overhaul. After a few years, I sentenced that 1974 Columbia 22' sloop to the landfill. It couldn't be helped because it sat on boat stands so long, the fiberglass hull was giving way at the support points. For some reason, I thought spending time with a new girlfriend was a better idea than working on the boat.
I love watching you pull oversized loads. I always wanted to haul oversized/ long loads. I drove for 17 years before I got my leg smashed by a forklift. Disabled at 38 😢. I loved the challenge. I loved the log books. I see driver cry about working.
I'm glad I'm not the only person that sees those sketchy convoys going down the road. I see at least one of those rolling disasters once a week going thru NC where I live outside of Charlotte, NC.
Mount a raise/lower air valve inside cab to override tractor leveling valve. Just remember easy does it...ujoint to yoke interference can occur. Assume you have such valve on rear of trailer.
Best of luck to the couple that received the boat. I'm sure it has good bones, but they have no idea what they are in for to bring that boat back to its former glory. I fear this is a passion project that will break them.
Doing a very quick look at the boat, I'd check the thru-hull fittings, scupper lines, power wash it, apply some VC-17, and sail it. Few tubes of marine silicone, four quarts of VC-17, the cost to step the mast, and some elbow grease. What do you see that I don't on a fifty plus year old boat?
The state agencies issuing permits need to hire competent personnel whom know the width, grades, and rail grade crossings of the all roads they intend to place an oversize load to travel upon. Good video. I understand the want to keep your tractor idling... but it takes about 70% of the audio quality (when standing around talking) and chucks it out the window. Video shooting tip... record the mirrors during parking/slow turns/backing (shows off your skill more).
First time I’ve seen your channel and just wanted to say good job! I paid 4k to have my uniflite moved and it was a tough decision. Depending on the interior condition, that boat isn't terrible. There's some gelcoat cracking on the white section (not terrible), the keel fairing is in good shape. The lower/blue section is VC-17, and it's "ablating" as it's designed to. The topside looks like it needs a good powerwash, and it's serviceable. "We weren't planning on getting this at all." That couple is in for a lot more surprises - boats like this are a giant hole in the water to pour your money into!
That is just why I refuse to do oversized loads, because I don't trust route plans. I have had route plans for a regular tractor trailer and got screwed up.
dude, when you made a right at that RR track, the place was right there on the right. spiting distance. ashamed you had to go all the way around just because you were Pullin a low trailer. Recognize that area real well. Slidell La. Bayou Bonfouca.
Those kinds of guy came to a job I worked at the bought some straight trucks and put three cars inside each one then had tow bars to hook up to another straight truck crazy
Put some OG mirrors on that truck. You spend that much for power you don't need a shitty mirror. Wire care hasn't set you up with reusable zip ties. I'm sorry some of us have replaced the square mirror. Sorry old school west coast hauler.
That's a mean gift. Guy said "It looks like it's in pretty good condition" lol. Those people have no idea what they're getting into. That old boat is going to bankrupt them.
And when they get tired of it, and finally realize just how much it costs to keep it even as is, to say nothing of bringing it up to actually sailing it, and then annual expenses, they will not get much for it on t he used boat market, and may not even be able to sell it, or worse case, give it away, since anyone who knows boats, won't want it even for free.
@@jonathanjenkins4742 For sure. If it were me and I had fond memories on it with my grandfather I might consider keeping it. But they didn't even know it existed. Well, maybe they'll start a UA-cam channel and show us the journey!
He did the right thing, i would have done the same, none of the governing bodies for heavy vehicles know the roads they send us on, they police it hard but take no responsibility for when they screw us over, ive spent more time off road train routes than on them in Australia, just gotta know what your gear can do, nothing about being a super trucker its about having common sense, knowing your gear and getting the job done. The two off route fines ive had in 15 years totalling 1600aud are worth every bit of the time, money and headaches ive saved myself, my boss and my customers .
Well they have the boat. It's not going to be a beginner boat. You're going to have to have some high level of skill to restore it and sail it. But, most boats just sit in the morning anyway.
Great content, and I'll check out more of your videos. Two suggestions: 1-Try not to film / post yourself doing illegal stuff (running stop signs, on phone while driving). 2-Turn off the truck if you are going to record dialog. A lot of the conversation with the owners was probably interesting, but it couldn't be heard.
Any idea what boat this is? underside looks like a Pearson but can't make sense of the coach roof and exterior chain plates. First day in a long journey for the new owners. Hope they enjoy it. I've been sailing for 30 years. Good driving.
@@smaarch1 Cheers. I was looking at the chain plates and wondering if they could be done that way with ferro. With a bit of luck, they won't have a huge spend in front of them. External chain plates, full keel, ketch rigged... it looks like a pretty seaworthy design.
17:54 you were coming through my state like probably 2 hours from me. they shouldn't have sent through Hattiesburg that place is always hell for oversize loads

It looks like your permits consider the clearance above the axles but not the clearance under the axles.
"We weren't planning on getting this at all."
That couple is in for a lot more surprises - boats like this are a giant hole in the water to pour your money into!
Another prime example you need them argosy back on the road to handle them long loads
Please tell me why you leave engine brake on when shifting. That has to be hard on u joints and drive line.
It doesn't do any harm, snaps your revs back nice and quick so you can shift faster when you need it, mine stay on full time
Love that truck 🇺🇸🤙
That is just why I refuse to do oversized loads, because I don't trust route plans. I have had route plans for a regular tractor trailer and got screwed up.
It can definitely be a gamble!
dude, when you made a right at that RR track, the place was right there on the right. spiting distance. ashamed you had to go all the way around just because you were Pullin a low trailer. Recognize that area real well. Slidell La. Bayou Bonfouca.
Those kinds of guy came to a job I worked at the bought some straight trucks and put three cars inside each one then had tow bars to hook up to another straight truck crazy
More outside of truck shots. Add cameras to truck and trailer please.
That’s why I love Oversize loads it will keep you on the edge of your seat but when you done it’s like a natural high love the challenge
Put some OG mirrors on that truck. You spend that much for power you don't need a shitty mirror. Wire care hasn't set you up with reusable zip ties. I'm sorry some of us have replaced the square mirror. Sorry old school west coast hauler.
Great job Timmy be safe out there ❤
i entered the contest but forgot to enter code gentry. hope to bring the beautiful truck to st louis
Ad free is only $15/month on you tube! Very worth it!!
Im a Operator for a Company that makes filters. We make those paccar filters! One of my favorite filters to run.
Hey what’s up fam how y’all doing much love let’s go #GNSTRUCKING stand up checking in with y’all one love fam
That's a little load on day you will get there With the Big Boys
Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
You too!
Remember to cancel that blinker driver....
Seat belts wearing is optional is it ,and the chit chat room 🤔 😳 😄 👀 😅😅😅
I used to pull 130 ft. concrete beams out of state . Not fun when you get in a bind somewhere .
Two suggestions:
1-Try not to film / post yourself doing illegal stuff (running stop signs, on phone while driving).
That's what I was wondering. Is it ferro, or GRP?
@@davidbrayshaw3529 definitely GRP - not ferro
@@smaarch1 Cheers. I was looking at the chain plates and wondering if they could be done that way with ferro.
With a bit of luck, they won't have a huge spend in front of them.
External chain plates, full keel, ketch rigged... it looks like a pretty seaworthy design.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 pretty sure it's not ferro
@@smaarch1 I hope not. GRP wins hands down in that race.
You're right turn signal light stayed on for a very long time, what's up with that?
17:54 you were coming through my state like probably 2 hours from me. they shouldn't have sent through Hattiesburg that place is always hell for oversize loads
It's a bumper not a buoy. But nice driving!
Better put t the medal in that truck to be there at 4pm
Well you're in my neck of the woods now. Hattiesburg.
Pro tip- diesels are loud so next time turn your truck off so we can hear what you're saying or utilize this new invention called microphones. 😆
Rooster would look amazing with a custom oversize on the front something like HaterMade. And what kind of flashlight are you using at the end?
Great Job on the boat. I am actually sea sick. I recommend your camera person back up and go slow on the pan. That's a movie camera word that means don't make people sea sick.
