    The CVT transmission in this car was one of the reasons why I went with the previous gen Accord. I dont mind modern CVT's that fake shift but ones that just rev up like in this 2016 Accord, I just really don't like. Apart from price another reason I didnt go with this generation of Accord was for the oil consumption issue. Apparently, Honda did the Hyundai thing and made the K24 a GDI engine which leads to oil burning. My 2012 Accord has the 5 speed auto and the legendary K24 motor before GDI. Great car. Has never let me down.

    • @TRZ__TRD
      @TRZ__TRD 8 місяців тому +6

      Bro, the 8th Gen k24 also burns oil and it didn't have GDI.

    • @glanzera
      @glanzera 8 місяців тому +12

      Oil consumption on the 8th gen Accord is far worse than the newer K24w engines. Oil consumption and GDI are completely unrelated.

      If the problem is the CVT transmission you should get the V6, the v6 doesn’t has a CVT transmission but should better say that you can’t afford it

    I have the 2014 EX sedan 2.4. It was my first car and it’s a great car all around. Yeah you’re gonna want the v6 when it comes to more spirited driving, however, as a comfortable daily driver for a 19 year old it’s perfect. CVT isn’t the best but it’s certainly one of the better CVTs in the market. It has a good power band and enough torque to punch the gas here and there while taking some tight turns. I get upwards of 35 mpg on the highway and I honestly couldn’t ask for a better first car for its price.

    • @stells7656

      Also , the newest gen ILX has the K24 motor with a DCT. It’s essentially what everyone wanted this car to be. Both cars are phenomenal pieces of machinery though.

    12:53 the hiccup you are referring to is most likely the cvt adjusting it’s ratios and belt to get you going. They just take a little bit of time to do that, that’s all. It’s kind of the same with my 2018 1.5t sport, it’s a little slow at first but then the torque comes into play.

      @@michaelbanko9965 like something along the line of a dirty MAP especially in the case of your 2018 Accord(my 2017 CRV had power lag, not the turbo kick in lag), or in this case some relay that's having difficulty making connection. I own this gen from new in both 2.4L and 2.0L(NA engine R20), and later years since I had them, in both I experienced lag(from stop or any rpm) and power degrade. When both new, they absolutely would just go as you put down the pedal. Im still testing, but the culprit very likely lies in the ignition circuit, the ignition coil relay connector. Dont look at the CVT, cuz Honda's CVT does not lag.

      Yeah my 2018 1.5t is not the fastest when you first tap the gas, but like 1-2 seconds later it starts to pick up pretty well. You don’t need to get the revs up that much, you just have to be a little patient.

  • @michaelbanko9965
    @michaelbanko9965 Місяць тому

    Interesting when I drive my 2018 accord 1.5t cvt just normally, the revs usually go up to about 2,000 rpm and simulates 2 gear changes and then goes back up to 2,000 and then it holds it there. It depends on how much gas you initially give it though, cause if you give more, it’ll go up to about 3,500 and then I let off a bit as mentioned earlier in the video and I don’t like the sound it makes when it does that.

  • @mackfar27
    @mackfar27 9 місяців тому

    Another great review in my very own backyard... I must agree. I find this generation a bit quicker off the line compared to the 1.5T engine in the more recent Accord's. The next time you are at Fitzgerald Hyundai of Gaithersburg. Ask to test drive a 2015 Genesis 5.0... It would be interesting to hear your feedback and comparison from the 2015 to the recent review you did on the 2018 G80 5.0...
